    Husky 901 Concept Adventure Bike

Somethings not right as the 1190 didn't come out until 2014 so there are no 10 year old 1190s out there yet. Perhaps you rode a 950? In which case, yes, there have been very dramatic improvements in the bikes since the 950/990 generation.

    Sicass in ABSP

My assumption was that the officer was just pointing out the potential issue with the plates. Didn't sound like he/she was trying to make a big deal out of it. If an officer is pissed off and "overzelous", then you are probably riding away with a ticket. Doesn't sound like that happened here. Maybe Kug can elaborate a bit on the encounter? My experience in dealing with the Rangers has always been very positive out there. I definitely don't see a problem.

I know of 2 people that got cited for this. It can potentially be a problem if the plate is at too much of an angle that it can not be clearly visible from the rear. They took their case to court and lost. I can elaborate more if there is interest. The good news is that it's a fix it ticket. The bad news is that it's subjective on the officers part and can be RS (reasonable suspicion) for a traffic stop. For the most part, most LEO's would consider this a chicken shiot stop and not cite for something like this.
  5. Yes, the axle nut (or bolt as defined by Mr. J) is threaded on the outside of the sleeve area. It threads INTO the inside diameter of the axle. Grind off two flats surface perpendicular to each other and get a crestwrench on it. If that doesn't work, just start grinding that sucker off. You might end up needing a new axle and axle nut (sorry, bolt) but that's not going kill the bank. As far as torque wrenches...yeah, no, I always hand tighten my axle nuts (damn it, bolts)...
  6. If the 4 10mm axle pinch bolts are loose, the axle will just spin when you turn the axle nut. Even if the axle nut is seized on the axle itself, you should be able to pretty easily spin the axle by turning the axle nut. But you are staying the axle nut won't budge at all, correct?
  7. So the nut is not only stuck on the axle, but rounded off now, correct??? Since the nut is aluminum, welding another nut to the face of it becomes a little more difficult for us garage welders. I'm sure someone on her can weld aluminum though? Personally, I'd start grinding a flat surface on each side of the nut, parallel to each other, so that I could then get a good size crescent wrench on it. Then heat up the nut with a propane torch. Then put some muscle on it.

    CA and NV BDR Loop

I can see all the pics. Nice write up. Section 3 of the CABDR is nice. I'm sure you'll get a chance to hit it one of these days.

KTM 450 70 Degree Thermostat Question

I see your point. There are other advantages too. Higher pressure rating (less likely to fail on the trail), fewer connection points (failure points), no thermostate to fail, they last longer than stock rubber hoses, and they look good. I'd venture to say just about every pro sx/mx/enduro team replaces the stock radiator hose and thermostat with a highflow silicone hose kit.

KTM 450 70 Degree Thermostat Question

Yes, remove it. The cooling system performs better without if for our riding condition.

Had my first flat tire today.

First flat ever? And here I've been thinking you've been riding since Hodakas were invented...
  12. So you beat your own record...good going.

    Canceled

4.5 years ago...unbelievable. I'm pretty sure I won the last teather ball game. I can't commit yet, but will try my best to make this one.

    2 stroke jetting.

Pull the carb and open her up, remove the jets, and inspect them all. It could be something as easy as a clogged jet. Compare your jet sized and needle position to factory specs. Post back with the details and we'll go from there.
  15. So I got to the bottom of La Posta first. I found a nice spot to chill in the shade a wait for the group. Eventually the majority of the group showed up. When Kenny arrived he said that someone had lost a gas cap. At that point, we assumed Darren and "someone" had turned around and gone back to find it. After waiting for about 30 minutes, along with the group, I realized i was running out of time and needed to get moving since I needed to be home by a certain time. My main side kick, Mikey777, and I decided to break out and slab west on the 8 so we would have time to grab some lunch. From there we hit some more paved twisties trying to make the most of the new Shinko 705's I installed on Fury the night before. They didn't disappoint. Before I met up with the group, I had already knocked out 80 miles of twisties. Ended up with 150 miles for the day. Had a great time.
  16. Might cruise up on the 950. Would meet at the gas station if I can motivate.

    Greetings from Chula Vista

Sounds pretty much like the rest of us...
  18. Hard side bags do have their advantages too...
  19. Nicely done. I see on FB you got home safely EARLY this morning. Laying down the miles...I'm jealous.
