  1. Agreed. The newer VStroms come with 3 mounting options....none of them work for me.......high isn't high enough.......low isn't low enough.......middle solves nothing.......I'll be cutting the shield down or buying an aftermarket "lower" shield to get my head about the chatter...... Well, I appreciate all the replies. I have no street bike experience so this I feel a bit better knowing it is a common problem among different bikes, not just the KTM. Now, my next questions, based on comments I've read here and other places, I get the impression people are moving away from the 950 /990 Adventure. Is that an accurce perception?

  3. So Paul, how does cutting down the stock screen fix the problem? Does it just drop the air flow so it's not hitting the rider in the helmet or??? So do I go for it? The bike I'm seriously considering is a good deal.
  4. Josh, hope to see you there. Slaugo, I'll PM you my cell in case you want to try and catch up...
  5. Satuday morning, June 1st, 0800 hours at Packards in Ramona. Anyone else wants to join, holler back. Zancat has already sent me a text that he is in...so two so far. The plan is to leave from Packards, head down Pamo Rd., catch Santa Ysabel trail to Black Canyon, Black Canyon to Mese Grande, take 76 west to Nate Harrison grade, go up to the top of Palomar, then head home. I've never done Nate Harrison before so I'm not 100% sure on distance and route once we get on the 76. I'm guessing about 80 miles range required??? Big bikes OK on the first part for sure, I'm not sure about Nate Harrison??? This is an adventure for me and don't know all the details, so be prepared. If you want to join the adventure, post up, because otherwise we might not even stop at Packards...
  6. Yeah, I've got that road pretty wired...It's especially fun at 0430 in the morning in a twin turb BMW 535i... :lol:/>
  7. Good shout out. I always try to make it over there for that. Dibs on your bikes when you move over there...
  8. Cool. I live off Highland Valley Rd. so you may just see me on the way to Packards
  9. Sounds good! I know what it's like to be on-call...sucks!
  10. I'm heading out around 9 am from my house. I'll be hitting everything off Pamo Rd., including Orosco Ridge, Lusardi TT, Santa Ysabel TT, Black Mountain, Black Canyon, etc. I'll probably head over to Mesa Grande from there and head down to the 76 just to get some slab time in. Then...turn around and head back. Probably about 3 hours and 50 miles or so. I ride this route solo frequently because I'm more of a spure of the moment type guy but figured I throw this out a whole 1/2 day in advance if anyone wants to join If there are any takers, I'll meet you at Starbucks, 1315 Main Street (highway 67),by 9:00, rolling out by 9:15.
  11. HVYWT...Come on man, gaff off responsibilities and lets ride... Crawdaddy...maybe we'll cross paths...keep it on two wheels... All others, I'm going to start another ride thread...this one is clapped out!!!
  12. That Anza route looks legit, but I'm thinking more of Nate Harrison Grade this weekend....
  13. Ok, help me out with some directions...I'm going try and plan something out. HVYWT, get the bike rolling. I got an PM from Arne (Zancat), he says he's a strong possibility...and maybe Mike (Hayseed) could join? Shooby? Anyone?
  14. You managed to make me jealous again...thanks
  15. So, anyone want to plan a ride for this Saturday morning? I'm not much for slabbing so the more dirt the better. Is there any good tracks leaving Ramona, Pamo to Santa Ysabel, Black Canyon, Mesa Grande, west on 76, up Palomar (trails???), down the back side, come back on the 79 or possibly drop down into Pala?? I'm not familiar with much outside of Ramona yet, unless you wanna talk open desert...That area I know well!
  16. Is this McCain? I still haven't been there but the single track looks awesome.
  17. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ yup, that could be a problem ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Welcome to Ramona...it's an awesome place to live!

  22. KTM 530. Any takers, make sure you post up, otherwise I won't be stopping at the Starbucks.

    Clutch

X2 Are you adjusting your clutch often? Is it clunking when going out into 1st or hard to get into 1st. Both could be signs of wear.

Head on Swivel / Stay Frosty

We, as two wheelers, must take the lessons we learn and pass them on so others can learn from them as well. I'm glad it wasn't a harsher reminder! Keep it on two!
  25. That was pretty killer. They were just railing some of those berms
