  1. Rode today doing some testing of the new Chinese radiators and 3rd times a charm fork work. The bike seemingly held up, no apparent leaks....WAHOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! But she was flaring out like a bugger today. ARGH!!! Did some semi-tight stuff, tight stuff, rocky stuff and open stuff. The video is simple, but I'm not editing the other 1 hour plus of footage with the more interesting stuff. Just happened to have the 6 minuter segment on it's own and so here it be for the sake of a ride report. The weather was awesome between 11 and 1pm
  2. Found out why she was flaring out so much. Rode Sat. and lost my clutch. Farging slave failed again. Need to rethink parts as the prior fix did not last very long.
  3. Ken, this was the first run. All I can say is no leaks. They are cheap definitely, i.e., not made (welding is horrible) as well as the stock rads on the Husky. But at $90 for a pair and tons of reviews on CafeHusky and other enduro rider sites giving them props, I had to give it a go over the $400 for stock. Definitely would not run them without rad braces, but even then you should be alert on taking hits. Not to say you shouldn't do the same with stock rads, you should. These rads are deeper and they look like they would have more capacity, but when I refilled with the Evans I took out of the other rads, they did not need more fluid. My guess is the tubes are slightly thinner so things work about to about even between stock and these for capacity.
  4. NM? I hear its been a bit weatherly there lately. I miss aspects of the state, but not living in Albuquerque. Some good dirt riding out there.
  5. I never looked for that in the packaging . I just found it. It really does eliminate the bottle sound.
  6. I tell you what, anyone who threw our, lost or does not have the rubber noise stopper can send me $20 and I will give you on piece. Then I will call or write Gopro and get one for free and be $20 richer. Honestly, I have gotten free camera cases and mounting arm kits from them and have known people to have similar experiences. They have great customer service. Of course that was a few years ago, but I have not reason to think it would be different. The company is only profiting. Just saying.
  7. Oh Axel. Call or write a note, via their website, and they'll send him some for free. Just tell them you thought it wasn't part of the kit or something like that and you tossed it. https://gopro.com/contact-us
  8. Bob, it sounds like you don't have the little C-shaped rubber dodad that goes on the clip. It stops all of those camera knocking sounds. Unless that's a tether I hear.
  9. What is the stuff that some call rain? Me too missed out on both the rains. Oh well, there will be another day. Maybe two more before the year is up. I'd much prefer my own blood over bike blood. I heal cheaper than my bike.

    radiator repair or new rads

Anyone know of a radiator shop in town well versed in the repair of dirt moto radiators? I don't want any rad shop, just names of places who know the ins and out of repairing bike rads. Also, any suggestions on where (online or otherwise) to get like new or new rads would be helpful too. I of course know how to use the webs, but it never hurts to ask others. The '06 Husqvarna te450 needs some new lungs. Cheers, Log

Oh and looking at Chinese rad potential. I have read that there are people having good success with them, but haven't seen which brand they're going with yet.

    radiator repair or new rads

I've used him a few times and can vouch for him. However, I crushed a radiator on my 530 a few months back. It was badly damaged so I decided to replace instead of repair. OEM radiator for my bike was $230. I found a used one in excellent condition on Ebay for $100. New for me is about $150 or $320ish for both. I have seen only a few on EBAY, but they were beat (gouged fins, twisted and/or bent rad) and they still wanted $100 plus shipping coming out to the price of a new. I haven't given up on EBAY yet.

Helmet mounted go-pro - bad idea?

The can be said about everything, tool bag, goggles, handlebar, etc. While there is always a possibility for bad results, I think a chest mount is probably the least likely place on the body to cause harm. If you wear body armor (chest protection) injury is lessened, also chest impact, I assume, is a very, very small percentage with accidents. But as stated it only takes one odd hit for things to be bad. I would make sure the chest mount sits above the sternum and not on it. Otherwise the safest option is no camera, or no riding.

'08 is a very different bike from my '06, and I can see difference in those rads from mine. Keep trying in your state of boredom.

    radiator repair or new rads

I've already been in talks with Mylers before this treas. he charges $65 a rad and that does not inculde shipping there and back. Hence me looking for a quality job shop that is local. I'm seriously considering a new or like new rad(s). Yes, I'll be getting on C.H. about it, just haven't had the moment to do a search and post.

That reads like a challange. Please, someone get lost on this ride.
  21. Out for now, bike needs copious attention. Switch your day to Sunday and meet peeps at McC. Check the board, there's a ride.
  22. Water + Electrolyte food. Carry water on your back, use it during the entire ride. Carry snacks on your back or fanny and eat them thorough a ride. Also hydrate well the night (no binge drinking sugar and alcohol the night before) and morning before a ride, and after. Try to stay away from sugar foods or artificial sweeteners. Foods for your body. Potassium = supports cell and heart function, regulates blood pressure, prevents bone loss and kidney stones, and plays a vital role in muscle contraction. Banana or pick fresh or dried fruits like oranges, melons, raisins, or prunes Sodium = helps the body hold salt which in turn retains water i.e., helps you stay hydrated. Soups the night/morning before, salty nuts, peanut butter, etc Chloride = Hand in hand with salts. The mineral, which is needed to maintain fluid balance, blood volume, blood pressure, and body fluid pH levels. whole food sources such as olives, seaweed, rye, tomatoes, lettuce, and celery. Calcium = calcium-rich beverage does a better job than water or sports drinks at rehydrating the body after a workout. Milk delivers a mix of carbohydrates, calcium, sodium, and potassium, along with high-quality protein, which aids muscle recovery. Aim to include calcium-rich foods like milk (regular or soy) and cereal, yogurt, or a latte each day.
  23. Stay hydrated boys and girls and know how to do it the correct way. It makes a HUGE difference on your health and riding. http://www.thumpertalk.com/blog/5/entry-61-a-guide-to-proper-hydration-for-optimum-health-wellness-performance/
