  1. I'm in for location.. out for day of the week I'm a "On Any Sunday" type of guy Play hard Saturday, sit in chair all day Sunday.
  2. No other takers eh? The weather temperature is reportedly going to be nice, mid-70s.
  3. Nice ride/write up. I bet you still dream about that trip these many years later. I know I do. I miss AK. I lived up there for 5 years in Anchorage, and drove around much of the state from Fairbanks to Kenai, Tok to Valdez. Including driving up to Anchorage from the ferry drop off in Skagway and then driving out from Anchorage to San Diego. But those days were all on four wheels. I highly recommend if you have the cash to take the Alaska Marine Highway from Bellingham, WA. to Haines and then sickle the rest of the way up the Yukon and Alaska. Taking the ferry you see things only people get to see by boat or float plane. It's a bit pricey, but worth the 3 day set trip. Then if you ride out of AK, you have the choice of the AlCan (better maintained) or the Cassiar (most western route). Either way, you're gonna see awesomeness. By the way KTMrad, it used to be a common thing all over the west on less traveled roads where everyone would wave at each other when passing, not unlike what motorcyclists do with each other. It didn't matter if you were in a tractor trailer, motorhome, car or what have you, we waved. It was plain and simple, a wave meant, "hi, we're out here." It was a quick moment of acknowledgement. Acknowledgement that we are the few, we are the same (despite our reasons for being out there or where we came from), we are alive. Okay, maybe I'm taking this a bit too far, but it was definitely a sign of humans acknowledging each other. Something that is often lost in today's world. As seen by many people not waving at each other on the road today. KTMrad, going places like you did on your trek shows why people should wave at each other on the road. All of us have something to experience and share. That's what the traveler's friendly passerby wave means to me. Ride on gang and keep traveling by any means you can.

    I plead the 5th.
  5. Ok so from where we saw each other: exit sandstone canyon and go 2.8 mile down fish creek, towards split mountain, and you'll see the diablo "connector" on your right (it's easy to miss if you ride fast, so yea, 2.8 miles from where Sandstone Canyon and Fish Creek meet). take that to diablo drop off, go up it, then follow diablo to the intersection with arroyo seco del diablo. make a right on that then right away a left on the connector that takes you to Arroyo Tapiado (the connector is 2.3 miles long). Go south on Arroyo Tapiado, the caves are there all over. Google around you ll find a bunch of info, if you pm your email i can send you a file with gps locations for each cave, and their description. if you keep going south on Tapiado it'll take you to Canyon Sin Nombre, and from there back to S2. have fun! I don't use GPS so it wouldn't do me any good, but again, thanks.
  6. So where exactly was that cave in relation to where we saw you guys?

    This da finale

Good stuff SV. Getting valid coolness footage always comes with unease, especially if you are the shooter and content maker. Good job.
  8. ^^^Fixed it :heh:/>/>/> It's really difficult to see, but 1Kstep's meter actually reads as a "max" speed of 19.3 and that's pushing it for him. Here's the same photo cleaned up a bit.
  9. It's funny you guys mentioned speeds. 1Kstep checked his computer and it read 163mph as his last recorded high speed before our ride. Although, while that is ridiculously off, you gotta love the accuracy of them gauges on dirt bikes. I never trust what mine reads especially at freeway speeds.
  10. Glad you made it back. Did you land on a rock to break it? Great video. Was a really great day to ride. It was xr650lnoob's chain that flew off. Not sure what happened. Maybe a rock, maybe a chain being a little too loose and maybe a culmination of things. He was riding in the wash canyon and then revvvvvvv. Nice little groove in the swing arm, sprocket side and a few links. It's a lock clip type main link. Nothing "broke" per se, the lock clip and the plate came off and then the link bent under force, thus releasing the chain. It could have been a lot worse, like a chain getting all gnarled up in the wheel, etc. I actually think the chain issue turned out better than a flat tire.
  11. This past Sunday - Pinyon. You have to fast forward to find Heart Attack, Fairchild and the other ups and downs. Ups and Downs - Nicely done. A little step up - Boring stuff here, but it gave me some reverse time, thinking back to the sport bike days riding all over S.D. county. Slab formation -
  12. Good to see you guys out on the trails. Thanks for your parts help guys. Our chain fix actually held up, but we appreciate your offerings and camaraderie.

Logroller xr650lnoob 1Kstep Ended up seeing the Ocotillo ride group () along the way in the canyon. Thanks for the spare chain link. Turns out our fix held up and we did not need the extra parts. But your kindness is duly noted. We ended up taking the long way out coming out by the quarry and then slabbing it to Ocotillo Wells and back up to the S2. I hit my reserve tank about 1 mile from the truck. 70 miles on the day. Again, the weather was great.

Great weather. Had a hiccup with a snapped chain about 2 hours into things, but with a group effort of our three brains, spare parts, tools and a rock or two, we got a chain put back together allowing us to ride out another 2 hours.
  15. Looking to get some radiator braces for the Husky - 2006 TE450. I'm might have it narrowed down to two brands. Any input on these or other brands i.e., protection, air flow, durability, fitment, fan attachment issues, aftermarket tank issues, etc. The 7602 seems like it might be more sturdy than the Enduro Engineering as it has 3 crossbars. Enduro Engineering http://www.ebay.com/itm/Husqvarna-Radiator-Braces-2004-2012-All-Except-449-511-610-Enduro-Engineering-/271166983824#shId and 7602 http://7602racing.com/prod_radiator_brace_husky.php

    Radiator Brace Input Request

Yeah, guess I kinda got lucky finding my louver on Saturday. Thanks for noticing it was gone Robert. I actually had no idea when it felt off, but went with a hunch that it was during runs up the hill. Got lucky with that and found it atop the hill. I'm too broke to be buying aftermarket parts, nonetheless stock parts that fell off, or even gas to ride. :unsure:/> Got a little b-day cash, hence the rad brace thoughts in conjunction with the rad tabs snapping off. WHAT ABOUT POSTING PICS OF BIKE SETUPS. SHOW US YOUR SETUP IT WOULD BE NICE TO SEE PICS OF DIFFERENT RAD BRACES AND GUARDS ON DIFFERENT BIKES. Thanks again Robert for your pics.

Alright gang, thanks for all the info. Keep it coming. The more info the better for all of us, Husky or not. I'm sure there are others who have been pondering the purchase for their trusty steed.

    Radiator Brace Input Request

Thanks Robert. Yeah I know radiators and braces for that matter are not made or meant to take hard strikes. Realistically, I just want that little extra protection like they are meant for. I've read stories of guys dropping their bikes (without forward movement) with Rad braces and still having their rad get tweaked. Nothing is full proof right, but it just seems advantageous to have that little extra solid metal for that extra tender crucial area. The little extra weight makes no difference to me either. But yeah, I know why bike rads are made the way they are. If Husky or any other manufacturer really wanted tank proof rads they would have them on the bike, whether they outsourced them or not. I assume the same goes for the no radiator fan on my model. If they wanted a fan, they would have put one on. Although, they did on the bigger motor and later models as a OEM piece. ARGH!!!!! Same goes for not having an oil view window. ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not really a complaint on any of those things, just a.....OOH, THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN A NICE OEM FEATURE ON MY BIKE kind of thing. Thanks for all the info Robert, posts those pics when you find them, if you can find them.

    Radiator Brace Input Request

hobiee, That was vague, can you be more specific with your Enduro Engineering Rad Brace problems. I tell ya, my rads are not strong enough to take a blow and the tabs are already ripped off on one side. Husky just didn't put enough aluminum in the right spots.

^^^^Try it next time and I swear you'll feel the euphoria set in at about circle 101. :thumbsup_anim:/> So glad I rode there on Sat. with almost unnoticeable numbers of bikes. I think there were 8 total bikes on Saturday and the only time we crossed paths was in the staging area.
