I don't know who Tree was (I did do a search and read some posts however), but I have to say that your post is obviously heartfelt. I'm sure he is looking down and smiling

  4. PM returned; looking forward to chatting tomorrow.
  5. So the coincidence remains: just got back from Hidden Meadows and meeting Brian (who I thought you may have been) and found out there's a couple of guys named Brian (I am obviously making the assumption you're named Brian by your screen name) looking to build pools up there. Depending where you are located, there is obviously a lot of rock up there (you guys have a lot of blue granite-very hard!) which is always a concern. Sometimes you can build around it and some times you need to blast if you find it in the dig. Be prepared to make changes/adjustments if you start to see rocks appear during excavation. The sooner you can make changes the better (excavators are not cheap). The rest of the project should go pretty easy with the right subs. I'm a licensed C-53 (License 969351) pool builder and have been building pools since 1995 and am happy to answer any questions you may have before you venture off on this (I am not looking for work, just offering to help a fellow bike brother). PM me if I can help. -Bruce
  6. I better not catch you going 50 in the fast lane! Congrats Mr. H!
  7. Bri-Man: Am I seeing you tomorrow night? The name and location sure sound familiar If not, PM me and I will give you some honest answers. It all comes down to the subs and paying attention. From there it is easy...........

A must read.....I did not write this

Awesome piece for such a terrible tragedy. Thank you for posting; I will be cutting and pasting on an email so that more can see this. -Bruce
  9. Have any of you ever had to clean a neglected gas tank? I'm not 100% positive that it is rust (I took the carb apart and cleaned it, and while it was varnished up, I didn't see any signs of rust and it did not have a filter inline) but I'd rather be safe than sorry. Feeding fuel through a makeshift assembly produced a running bike on the second pull (it's an '82 Honda 185S Three Wheeler that I'm working on and it hadn't run in almost ten years) and a quick couple of turns had it idling easily, so I think I've got the carb pretty much handled, and I don't want to risk running any rust or varnish to it. I appreciate any help or guidance anyone can give. I Googled it but would rather hear from someone that's done it as opposed to trusting some of the videos I saw! Thanks for any help!

    Cleaning a Rusty Gas Tank

I really like the part about pouring it in my neighbors yard, especially since that is my sister and brother-in-law next door! Do you think diesel fuel would work as well as kerosene (I have 100 gallons of it on the back of my truck!)? I've seen some suggest muriatic acid (I'm a pool guy, so I have a lot of that too), citric acid, etc., but that all involves water and something tells me I just don't want to put water in there. Thanks for the response, and the laugh about pouring it in the neighbors yard! Classic!

Check out this XT Yamaha 500

Yeah, I have a long way to go before mine looks like that Kris! I'm still kinda old school on these. I bought an XR500, a 185S and a 250R all on the same day in '82. Hated the 250R and traded for a built 185S which I loved. Always said one day I would have another one just to reminisce! Now I have the POS and have to get it back together! My brother has a 200X still. Those are a lot of fun (to me) and the suspension is nice. Yours looks great!

Check out this XT Yamaha 500

Nice! Picked up an '82 185S this past week and am working on bringing it back to life. Might have to hit you up for some sources for parts since you seem to know where to find all of this stuff! Want to find the old "butterfly bars", header and exhaust, and maybe tires for starters. Lots of clean up to do, after I get it running!

    Where to buy firearms?

I agree with you on the selection, Czechsix, but I would caution that they are not the friendliest nor most helpful there (in my opinion). I took a buddy there that wanted to bring his wife and daughter to the Friday night classes and was checking it out. We were there for an hour and no one would even recognize us or ask if we needed anything, even when we were standing at the counter and no one else was around. Trying to get help was a total waste of time (seemed like if they didn't recognize you they didn't want to acknowledge you). Just my .02 I was pretty disappointed when I was there. Not to say everyone would be treated the same, and maybe they were having a bad day.
  17. Not insecure, Aaron, just a desire to continue on living! Did you ever get a hunting license? If so, you know that you need to take the test and qualify. No biggie, but I have seen folks fail; not sure I want them in the woods with me if they can't pass the test in a controlled situation. I don't disagree with you on wanting less government involvement in my life, nor do I desire a nanny state or more expense. I also agree that taking a class or passing a background check makes you a responsible anything, but it does provide for some degree of comfort that we know who is out there with a weapon (not to say, or think for one minute that those without a permit are not carrying). I will fight to the end for my right to bear arms. Even though you and I seem to disagree on a couple points (don't take it personal), I would feel comfortable shooting with you based on your comments here. The bigger problem-and you allude to it-is that many folks are no longer willing to take responsibility for their actions anymore. I don't wish for the days of the Wild West to return, but I do think some degree of accountability needs to be in place. I think we should agree to disagree on the few points here, and look forward to seeing each other on the trail!
  18. + simicrintz --> did proper background checks and required strict certification for those who have a need to carry and prove they are responsible enough to carry (which obviously is done, but then someone in the state decides to start revoking existing permits and make it all but impossible to get new ones). I 100% fully dis-agree. I shouldnt have to do anything more then a background check. There shouldn't need to be any 'training' or 'strict certification' or 'proving anything' Last time I checked, the 2nd Amendmant of the Constitution CLEARLY states "A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed." CA, the Feds, any other state or person/people who think, want or force 'training' or 'strict certification' or 'proving anything' are infringing on my/our rights. PERIOD I say that so I don't get shot by someone who passes a background check but cannot properly handle a firearm! I'd like to know that if I am carrying and the guy next to me is also, I don't get shot when he fumbles with his weapon and discharges it into me! I have several LE friends, and I do have a tendency to carry large quantities of cash on occasion for my business. If I did need to defend myself, I would like to think I qualify under these conditions. Sadly, the CCW process is so slim in determining who gets to carry, and why, that this does not fly (I have zero background concerns that would impede me from passing any check). I do agree with our 2nd Amendment rights, and I will have my guns forever. Let them try to take them!
  19. Glad he is okay. I wish CCW permits weren't so difficult to get; I bet we'd have less crime if California did proper background checks and required strict certification for those who have a need to carry and prove they are responsible enough to carry (which obviously is done, but then someone in the state decides to start revoking existing permits and make it all but impossible to get new ones). The sad part is that he is now "exposed" and a CCW holder and will probably be "reviewed" and then lose his permit. Lots of permit holders have had this happen in the last couple of years.

OK, sounds like it is under control. If the one o'clock can't make it happen, let me know and I will see if I can help. B-I-L can easily handle what you need. I'll be on the road a good chunk of tomorrow. If you get the voice mail, please leave a message and I will call back.

My brother in law is, and he is good and reasonable. He gets back tomorrow (not sure when), but I can check for you if you like. Do you have it shut off now? Don't over pay for an emergency; let me know if you need some phone help and I'll see if I can keep you out of over paying! 760.535.8411

  25. I have five jobs (and you guys wonder why I never go on any rides with you!), and I work from 7 am to 10 pm most days. I work a little less on the weekends, and I have been known to take one day "off" (if you can call it that, since the phone/iPad is never far away) on a weekend here and there (I am hopeful to make a day trip out this Sunday). My jobs all are construction related, so under the table pay is common (dare I say the norm?). As a licensed, bonded, insured company, we cannot compete with the "cash" contractors. As others have said, don't get me started. This has gone so far now that it is all but impossible to earn a living (I do not want a hand out, unlike so many these days) and it shows no sign of slowing. We give so many freebies to folks today that have learned how to work the system, and they just keep coming. When I was a kid, you worked your butt off to make the team, if you were into sports. Today, everybody gets to play. What are we teaching our kids? Why do we think everyone should get the same?! If you suck, sit on the bench!!! Rant over....... I better go take my blood pressure medicine.
