  1. Planning to do the valves on the 990 adventure this weekend and still waiting on a tool to be ordered. Just wondering if anyone has the little bolt I could borrow for a couple days at most. Would happily pay.
  2. Going to finally get the 990 out for a much needed ride. Saturday 10/29/2016 meet at Packard's in Ramona, kick stands up by 9. Ride will take go from Ramona, Black Canyon Road to Mesa Grande(Smooth Dirt), Mesa Grande to 78(Paved), 78 East to 76 to Ranchita (Paved), Right Turn off Montezuma Grade to Culp, Jasper, and Grapvine (All Dirt) to 78 West, Great Southern Overland Stage Route (All Paved) to Mason Valley TT/ Rodriguez TT (Dirt) to 78 at Banner (Just east of julian). Banner to Ramona (All street). I remember some sand on parts of Culp and Grapevine, but doable on a big bike with a little confidence. If Culp is really washed out/sandy, may take alternative route. Per previous rider (Thanks Arnie) fuel range of approx 75 miles is fine. No real restaurants so plan to bring snacks for the ride. Hope to see you out there. Ian
  3. Weirdrider, Thanks a ton for sweeping. Definitely couldnt have kept even the remaining few together without you. Ill be putting real knobbies on now....
  4. Zubb, Youll be fine on Tourances', no finger wagging will be had. I'll be running old k60s. I cross posted to another group as courtesy, so group seems to have multiplied. If everyone shows, we will be looking at 14 or 15 of us.
  5. Looking forward to seeing you all on Saturday. Been dying to get out for a ride. Please remember to bring tools/tubes for your bike should anything rattle apart on these treacherous fire roads....
  6. Really bummed i wont be able to make this, wont be out of work until after 5.
  7. Sorry you cant make it. Next time hopefully. Ill still be riding.
  8. Well for clarity we will take Rodriguez TT. I will be riding a 990ADV. Id say this is still big big friendly.
  9. I guess I never remembered it being that rocky... Well, I'll be riding regardless.
  10. I guess I dont remember that sand. I had done this route previous on my old vstrom 1000. I haven't taken the KTM through here yet.
  11. Assuming its plated, I think you'd be totally fine. Longest street section would be from Hideout to Ranchita or Banner to Ramona
  12. Hey Weirdrider, Thanks, that what i get for working 18 hours straight. Anyone is welcome. I think the amount of pavement is doable on anything. What are you riding Weather looks great! 70s in desert.
  13. Looks like next weekend will be cooler and it's time to get the big bikes out and hit some dirt in San Diego. Plan would be to start at 8:30 in Ramona. Hit dirt over to hide out. Drop down into the desert or head up Palomar Divide or Nate Harrison. If heading down through the desert, would cross down to 78 and come up through Julian and back to Ramona. Route can be determined or solidified based on group. All are welcome, will not leave noobs behind. Let me know who is interested.
  14. Unfortunately bike is not ready, so ill be wrenching tomorrow
  15. Would plan to leave from Packards. Id like to get a good size group together. If necessary we can schedule farther in advance.
  16. I would be interested in joining if this is a morning ride, on big KTM

    Fallbrook to Santiago Peak

Either time actually works, I will just need to be heading back by 12:00. So just depends on the pace you want to ride whether i will cut out early.
