A TDub and bboyle9 make it to Big Bear
bboyle9 replied to Goofy Footer's topic in 1 to 3 Day Ride Write-Ups, Stories and Photos
Every part of the ride was out of this world. Can honestly say those 2 days were the reasons i wanted to start riding. Well that and watching goofy cannon ball his 20 yr old tw into a mudpuddle the swamp thing wouldve been proud of. -
I was looking on Procyle and saw this nifty tool tube, thought about buying one and then saw that its 50 bucks and realized i could make one for way cheaper. I went to Home Depot bought the PVC stuff i need but was wondering what i should make the brackets out of, and where i could get some aluminum or steel stock of a similar thickness and malleability. heres a picture for reference thanks for the help!

George does awesome work, great service and its nice to know when someone working on something u really care about takes a genuine interest in you and what you do. I would recommend to my mom if she rode, he definitely gets things done the right way. anyone feel free to PM me if you need his number.

nOOb Backcountry Ride Sunday, Sept 30th
bboyle9 replied to Goofy Footer's topic in Informal Local Rides & Who's Going Riding!
I should b in on this and as usual breaking myself and my bike -
So thanks to some SDAR faithful, TNTMO and goofyfooter my dr 650 was up and running again. I felt bad she was neglected so bought her new plastics installed them last night and reinstalled the taillight and it worked fine. I used no solder crimp on leads wrapped it in electrical tape and when i turned the bike on this morning the light worked for about 1 sec,, then shut off...no nothing. Either i did something wrong and caused a short, or the universe is against me this week. Im guessing its the former. Hopefully someone who knows about electrical gremlins has an idea of why this happened. Thabks in advance guys!

I thought i fixed it but i guess not

Yea well, i want to but i managed to lose my liscense plate somewhere. The super trick custom mount was most definitly a Boylefix and testing tje suspension by hitting the speedbumps in the parking lot at work prolly had something to do wth it. Going to AAA tomorrow to see what They say -

Busted fuse caused by exposed wire in tailight, I knew I was never destined to be an electrical engineer. Thanks! -

No, because the starter and the headlight both didnt work figured it was more than the bulb -
Stupid auto correct, I meant to say the bike started "no problem"

So here's the deal, my 99 dr650 has 17k on it. no engine mods, I've had it since June and added about 8k to the odometer. I recently road it to San Francisco and back and on the way back I suspected that it was leaking a little oil. The reason being, it smelt like oil was burning and it wasn't gas leaking so there weren't too many other options. Got home changed the oil and filter and everything ran fine for the last two Weeks. Fast forward to a couple days ago and the bike just won't run right. First it won't even idle unless the choke is on. I had to stay on the gas to keep it from dying. Its not sputtering at all when I'm in hear and riding but the second I come off the gas its dead. Tried starting it yesterday no luck. There's plenty of gas, I ran it wit the reserve on and still same result. I imagine its something with the carb, but I don't have the tools or any idea of how take the thing apart without breaking it. I'm more concerned about the oil residue that's on the cooling fins and around where the top end meets the engine cases. I haven't really tried to diagnose the problem I was just looking for some directions or ideas. im no mechanic but This seems bad, hopefully someone will tell me its not.
