Dude, your skills were much appreciated.
Though my BMW mechanic buddy was greatly saddened that you didn’t read the manual or watch the videos he sent…🙄- 1

Wait…what?!
KLR rules!

Got it! Thanks.

I’ve been down the aftermarket shock trail. It’ll leave quite a mark in your checking account.Info, please!

Nice hanging out with y’all and nice to meet Alex. Happy trails, my friends…until we meet again!
Tom is being modest. BMW says it’s a 3.5 hour job; he did it in under half that time.

and a PIA to get to.
Are you rolling again? Or waiting for parts? There’s only one place in the country that rebuilds BMW shocks because they’re not re-buildable —EPM out of New Jersey.
It cost $260 to rebuild and it’s about $100 each way to express it over there and back.
And an aftermarket shock probably would’ve cost me about $1200, and believe me I thought about doing that.

I’m pretty much heading east back to Tampa from San Diego when the shock comes back and it’s installed.

I wish. I’ll set up a quick meet and see who wants to toss back a cold one and talk rides.

I’m in town for a week or so. Will definitely make time for brews.

Badass indeed. Just another great part of that movie.

In November 2013, my wife and I went to see a showing of Why We Ride, a very neat motorcycle documentary in La Jolla. We were surrounded by other motorcycle enthusiasts--and several fellow SDAR members.

If there’s a better motorcycle movie, I haven’t heard of it. Bruce Brown’s epic bike flick is hitting 50 years old. Unbelievable. Mert Lawwill, Malcolm Smith and Steve McQueen…among others.
This month’s edition of American Motorcyclist is all about OAS. And I see that a newly digitalized version will be available on the big screen this Fall. Yes, please.
Ah, the memories…

Hey, Kelly, I wanted to follow up on the job a local cobbler did on my boot.
I bought a pair of the Gaerne oiled boots to supplement my Sidi GoreTex Adventure boots that I absolutely love. The problem is the Gaerne’s had a hot spot on my left foot where my small toe would touch the side and it bothered me quite a bit. I tried thick socks, thin socks…nothing worked.
Dave recommended I find a local cobbler and have them stretch the boot at that spot. Luckily, I have an old school cobbler right down the street. I left the boot with them for a couple days but it still caused me grief. I took it back and they used a different stretcher and kept it wet the whole time (4 days).
After I picked it up, I wore them for a couple hours and can tell the difference. I can see where it’s been stretched and the boot feels much better now.
Just FYI so you don’t throw in the towel on a pair of boots you really like.
