Remove that power limiter from your KTM
Dan Diego replied to Dan Diego's topic in Equipment & Technical Forum
Was going to link the original article but it wasn't in their main site, just their FB site. Appears to work on several KTM models. Let us know how it goes. Mine is good enough as is.- 2 replies

Rottweiler posted this recently: How to remove the limiter from your KTM 990/950 ADV Interesting... So you've heard about how 990 KTM's have a 'power limiter' in 1st and 2nd gear, but not sure what that is? Purportedly your 990 retards the timing a bit in the first two gears to keep from wheely'ing or something to that effect. Well, that is NO FUN, so most people in the know remove two wires from the shift sensor. This is easily done with a small pick by depressing the tang in the plug and simply removing the party killing wires from the housing and taping them up. The plug can be found just in front of the shift lever and under the engine and the wires will be coming out of the same area to this 3 way plug. Remove the two wires shown from the engine side and leave the green wire. (This is your neutral indicator for the dash) The other two are simply gear indicators and do not have any negative effects unless you don't like power, in which case you have landed on the wrong FaceBook page. This stuff is old news to allot of KTM veterans but we had a recent picture of it and though we'd post it for the ones who can't stand pouring over forums.

And another one yesterday. ? http://www.kusi.com/story/34419596/motorcyclist-killed-in-when-striking-car-making-u-turn A grim reminder that we as motorcyclists are constantly at risk and must ride accordingly. Please be safe out there my bothers and sisters. Motorcyclist killed when striking car making u-turn Posted: Feb 03, 2017 7:29 AM PST Updated: Feb 03, 2017 7:29 AM PST The headline should read, "Motorcyclist killed by car making improper u-turn." OCEANSIDE (KUSI) — A 36-year-old man was fatally injured when the motorcycle he was riding struck a car making a U-turn in front of him on an Oceanside roadway, police said Friday. The crash on El Camino Real near Basel Street was reported around 5:40 p.m. Thursday. "The collision occurred when the driver of the sedan made a U-turn in front of the motorcycle," Oceanside police Lt. Daniel Sullivan said. "The motorcyclist struck the sedan on the passenger door ejecting him from the bike." Officers arrived to find the downed rider not breathing. He was taken to a hospital and died a short time later, Sullivan said. The victim's name was withheld pending family notification. A passenger in the Toyota sedan suffered minor injuries in the crash and was taken to a hospital to be treated, Sullivan said. Sullivan said the car's driver was interviewed at the scene and released. Intoxication was not believed to have been a factor in the accident. Police have launched an investigation into the crash. Anyone with additional information was asked to call Accident Investigator Bryan Hendrix at (760) 435-4882.

Ah, that makes sense as I hadn't asked for any additional (Mexico) service and the cost was minimal. Good info, thanks! -

Dan Diego replied to Goofy Footer's topic in Baja Info, Upcoming Rides, Ride Reports, Photos, etc.
I recall that there was a charge per text, but it wasn't too much. It was prior to my iPhone (or FB). FB Messenger, Skype and the like are the new way of communicating, when wi-fi is available. -
I've recently spoken with two other SDAR members about GPS use. I told them both I was fairly proficient with routes but not so much with tracks. I learned as I rode on the AZBDR but it wasn't a piece of cake. With all of the experience among the members of this site, I would ask if anyone would be interested in walking some of us through basics of off-road GPS use. Maybe prior to the next SDAR meeting or just at a get-together at one of our places in the near future. Who'd be interested in either learning how to use their GPS unit better or providing some instruction?

Good stuff, Tim. You really know your way around a GPS. Your input is appreciated.
