    possibly going orange?

I'm looking to get a new(used) bike in the very near future and am looking at possibly drinking the orange kool-aid. Looking for something with more power than my CRF230(not very hard to get more power than this) but don't want anything near or over 300 lbs... Anyone here have a 530 exc-r? How do you like it? Any chance I could arrange a test ride?

Love this bike! Doing the valves now, both intakes were tight, luckily I can swap one of the shims to the other side and it fixes it, so I just have to buy one...

Anyone Ride Mid Week? Tues and/or Weds?

I'm very tempted to take a late afternoon/night ride this week if anybody is local enough. My normal riding buddy's bike is in pieces but I can't pass up the after rain wonderness... Thinking about a big loop out to the desert, dirt from Hemet to Anza, gas in Anza, dirt to Warner Springs, slab it to Pinyon, Pinyon out to Fish Creek, then either Grapevine or just slab it back home. 200 + miles, tubes tools etc, sorry but no new guys. There is no gas in the desert at night, unless you go to Borrego(I dont even know if there is any there at night) or near Salton City. Both of these are way out of the way... Might just stay more local and do Bee Canyon or Rouse Hill, haven't made up my mind yet.

WooHoo! Finally picked up new bike today!

Suspension is stock, I fit right into the weight range of the stock springs so bonus on that one. The way I figure it is the tank will actually protect the radiators where the shrouds are mainly just to direct air and to look pretty. I mainly ride harder single track and I do not see it being an issue, your bars will always be the widest thing on the bike, but that's what handguards are for. It's a 5.3 gal tank and these guys were almost $100 cheaper than anywhere else I could find: http://www.powersportsplace.com/parts/ACB-2250340147

WooHoo! Finally picked up new bike today!

Took a little ride up bee canyon last night before the rain came: Bike ran great, tons of power and the suspension is amazing! I wanted the big tank to get a 200 + mile range. When standing up, I don't even notice it. Sitting down, you can feel it a bit. I also plan to do single track. If you don't need the range, don't fill it all the way up, imo. They also make a 4.1 gallon... Came home in the dark. Man, this stock headlight sucks! Lets remedy that! Set to work as soon as I got home: My 48t rear sprocket came yesterday, so while its raining I'll install that, along with the TMDesignworks chain guide/BPD swing arm guard and TMD chain sliders. This beast is almost finished! It's a good thing too because my wallet needs some recovery time LOL

WooHoo! Finally picked up new bike today!

I got mine over the weekend, though mine is the 350. Had an issue with the clutch cover gasket leaking, which the dealer fixed gratis(got an oil change out of it too) Has 36 miles on her as of now, .9 of an hour. Even that was too long on the stock seat! I HIGHLY recommend the Seat Concepts seat... I've been busy:

    Current Communication Equipment

Along these lines, I'm running a bluetooth connected to my phone for music and I'm running a Baofeng UV5R with this helmet set: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DTUEZ3Q/ref=oh_details_o05_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 They both have nearly identical speakers, but I can't fit both pairs in my helmet's ear pockets cleanly. Anyone know if I can connect them both to one pair of speakers? Would it be a simple cut & splice? I don't want to fry the BT or the UV5R...

    possibly going orange?

Picked her up on Saturday. 2014 350 EXC-F Rode 35 miles to get her broken in, saw this when I parked. After sitting for a bit, still dripping. So back to the dealer she goes! Ended up being just the clutch cover gasket. At least I got an oil change out of it . Now the real fun begins! De-smog is in progress. Prepping for more mods and maintenance, partial list in no particular order(except the seat, that one HAD to be done ASAP): Seat Concepts seat 5.3 Acerbis tank Tm Designworks chain sliders and guard with BPD guard Tm Designworks skid plate BPD radiator guards Fork bleeders Trail Jammer Designs clutch case saver and exhaust guard Dirt Tricks timing chain tensioner and sprocket dome washer KTM 13T countersprocket 48T rear sprocket Giant Loop Coyote Shorai Battery ADV Monster voltmeter Pair of LR4 LED lights JD Jetting tuner other stuff I can't remember right now

    Flexx Bars by FasstCo

I run the red with no rebound bushing, Cycra handguards. Just enough flex to help, not enough to really notice. Will prob replace them here shortly as they are old...

Made up my mind and ordered the pair of LR4s and also one LR64: http://ledrider.com/shop/?model_number=LR64 Going to run all three off the dimmer, will run the LR64 in place of the stock headlight ala the squadron

Anyone here have the brand new 14 KTM 500EXC?

I'm picking up a '14 350 exc-f here on the 22nd, going with the 350 over the 500 because I'm not a big guy ~ 150lbs and I ride technical stuff rather than wide open desert...

    possibly going orange?

I don't think 50% dimming is low enough for road use, so it would need a program-able dimmer for sure. It does end up with a really clean install, but the price is out of my league... On the 230 I'm running an HID hi/lo conversion in the h4 headlight along with a pair of Model 30 and a single Model 44 from: http://stores.advmonster.com/model-30-led-off-road-spot-light/ http://stores.advmonster.com/model-44-led-off-road-flood-light/ Approx 8500 lumens(3500 from hid, 3000 from pair of 30s, 2000 from the 44) Cant wait to pick it up on the 22nd! Going to order the 5.1 gallon tank for it shortly

    possibly going orange?

Thanks! It's going to be a nice upgrade from my 230L of Furry... Now I have to decide if I want to drop the $ on a BD Squadron XL or go with auxiliary LR4's Squadron XL = 4300 lumens = $375 + dimmer and shipping http://www.bajadesigns.com/ProductDetail?ItemNumber=500010 pair of LR4 = 7000 lumens = $153 with free dimmer and shipping included http://ledrider.com/shop/?model_number=LR4P-FD Leaning HEAVILY towards the aux LR4's...

    possibly going orange?

I know a few guys have that or similar models- you will love the lighter weight and great power these bikes make They can be on the tall side (don't know how tall you are) hope you find what you are looking for I'm 5'10" and 160lbs, that's the main reason I don't want a BRP(xr650r), I don't want something that out weighs me by 2x... A low seat may be a worthwhile mod if it ends up being too tall for me to be comfortable.

    DRZ Rifle Mount

I just don't want anybody to do anything that would get them in trouble. Two things; first: "I could unload my rifle and carry it on my back with the sling and still be legal" Unloaded open carry is not legal any more in incorporated areas. So you'd need a case when you get on and off your bike (unless you are in an unincorporated area where discharge is legal the firearm must be completely encased[if the case is made specifically for a firearm, no lock is needed unless passing through a gun free safe zone(school)]) second: "it is perfectly legal for me to carry my rifle on my bike as long as it's unloaded." Again, it has to be in a case when you get on/off, unless you are in an unincorporated area where discharge is legal. " SEC. 12. Chapter 7 (commencing with Section 26400) is added to Division 5 of Title 4 of Part 6 of the Penal Code, to read: CHAPTER 7. CARRYING AN UNLOADED FIREARM THAT IS NOT A HANDGUN IN AN INCORPORATED CITY OR CITY AND COUNTY Article 1. Crime of Carrying an Unloaded Firearm that is not a Handgun in an Incorporated City or City and County 26400. (a) A person is guilty of carrying an unloaded firearm that is not a handgun in an incorporated city or city and county when that person carries upon his or her person an unloaded firearm that is not a handgun outside a vehicle while in the incorporated city or city and county. ( (1) Except as specified in paragraph (2), a violation of this section is a misdemeanor. 26405. Section 26400 does not apply to, or affect, the carrying of an unloaded firearm that is not a handgun in any of the following circumstances: ... © When the firearm is either in a locked container or encased and it is being transported directly between places where a person is not prohibited from possessing that firearm and the course of travel shall include only those deviations between authorized locations as are reasonably necessary under the circumstances. ... 16505. For purposes of Chapter 7 (commencing with Section 26400) of Division 5 of Title 4, a firearm is "encased" when that firearm is enclosed in a case that is expressly made for the purpose of containing a firearm and that is completely zipped, snapped, buckled, tied, or otherwise fastened with no part of that firearm exposed." more info on Calguns.net and here: http://wiki.calgunsfoundation.org/Transporting where you can loaded open/concealed carry: http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/showthread.php?t=186457

    URGENT - Help Needed Now

got through very easy, 2 more no encouragements
  23. 2 xr650r's and a crf230l set off for adventure, one xr rider is a NOOB. We started at my place in Winchester... Our camp friday night, yp site 1 on keller peak. Freeking guys on their phones Set off Saturday morning and hit a superb coffee shop in running springs for breakfast. Then it was off up Green Valley Lake Road towards Crab Flats. Noticed along the way my favorite connector trail from the staging area to crab flats is closed, fenced off. Not sure why but that SUCKS! Saw a bobcat scurry off the road up a hill then watch us pass by. Down Dishpan we go! Noob not doing so hot here. Only dropped it twice all the way though! Took way too long but we eventually arrive at Devils Hole, just in time for the work crew to be finishing up, Doh! B.S.'d for a while then across the newly renovated creek crossing we go. Ed(Noob) crossing Jesse(not noob) crossing Ed(Noob) riding up the single track above Devils Hole Got to the top with only one scary incident where Ed(Noob) decided to drop both tires 6" off the trail. Bet he needed a new pair of shorts after that. After that Ed(Noob) was toast, so we decided to drop him off at camp (yp site 34). Snapped this pic of them along the way. Damn it's hard to shoot and ride! Then Jesse and I go off for fun stuff! We go down 1w17. Holy CRAP! This trail is beat! On the good side, it's reverting to single track! Only one real traveled line in multiple spots. Fun but very tiring. No pics of this part, we were movin to fast. Done with 1w17 and we head up Holcomb Valley, took a peek at the Holcomb Creek rock garden and decided to try our luck on 2n06x. Good times! The rock gardens when we got back to Holcomb Creek were ginormous. No issues though we cleaned them quickly, again no pics :-( Then it was back to camp to enjoy the fire. Sunday morning Ed(Noob) was still whooped so we call it early and head down the mountain...
  24. I'll be up there with a couple buddies, mainly to help with the devils hole trail restoration on Saturday. Riding after, if you see a CRF230L of furry say hi...
