  1. Plated KTM 350 XCF-W on knobbies.
  2. I do believe I will be there tomorrow morning as well.
  3. Working in the evening on Monday, so would like to do an early ride of intermediate single track. I'm thinking McCain, but am open to other ideas. Anybody up for it?

How much pavement do you have in the route?

I may do some looking tomorrow, but I'm guessing its going to be tough to find a place to stay up there right now. It seems lodging isn't as scarce as I would've expected this close to MD weekend. Anyone else going to ride trails up there? I could be up for a ride up Friday, ride BB trails Sat, ride back Sun - or just ride back Sat.

    Monday May 20 ride

Nice to meet you...not sure if scubatoe got any video That was a good ride, with good riders and a good pace. I was thoroughly whipped from two days of Lark, but I'm starting to like that place more than Corral. A ton. I'll get around to sifting through it for anything worth blackmailing people over...

Up and back would be brutal in one day unless you stopped half way and returned to SD. Depending on your work schedule, I'd recommend staying in BB and riding some of the trails there before returning if you can. I may do some looking tomorrow, but I'm guessing its going to be tough to find a place to stay up there right now.

Hmmm...lurking. May be up for it, but I'm thinking up and back same day may be a bit punishing.
  9. Free tomorrow. Assuming I can walk, I'll be there. I'll try to meet up at Pine Valley - if I don't make it, I'll drive to 4 corners, and catch you guys on a loop back through the lot.
  10. Yeah - let's call it 8-ish, though. I'll truck out.
  11. That'll work. Depending on my work schedule, I may be able to do Corral later in the week as well. What time do you want to meet at McCain?
  12. I could be up Monday morning through to the afternoon. Any help on a good dirt route out there from Coronado (or Otay)?

Ocean to Desert -- The Hard Way

You have my attention. Being on Coronado, I'm very interested in whatever you have and find out...

    Seen any piggies?

If he's ever thinking about downgrading to maybe 24,490-24,495 acres, I'm totally in... for the right price.
  16. I get where you're coming from (and totally agree with it), but I challenge you to ride around in a tank and not get the same brand of jollies that roosting dirt gives. I propose "minivans" be substituted for "tanks". No offense to the minivan crowd... well, maybe a little.

I use the Big Agnes Seedhouse SL2. Its been a great tent, and packs down pretty small - got it even smaller by using a cinch sack for the tent and rain fly, allowing me to pack my mattress and inflatable pillow into the tent bag, too. However, I think one of the models with a cross bar at the top that gives a little more interior room, and a side zipper would be a better choice.
  18. I'm up for that, but have a few commitments - when you going?
  19. I would be, but my GF is in town from Tahoe this weekend... Definitely next weekend, though.
  20. Ditto. what did the link say? I dont like to read or hear anything negative about riding. I mean I know its good to be warned and prepared but is it worth entering between my ears or is it not? Click on it - its awesome! Sweet freak accident. Just another reason why I like to ease up a little in blind corners...

Second picture is what I use - one of the four legged REI chairs - it packs up small enough to fit nicely in a GL Coyote bag. Find it much more comfortable than the 2-legger, since you can rest your legs easier. First picture is one of these which I spotted my last time at REI. It packs up even smaller than the one I have, and I'm seriously considering trading mine in. BTW, if you're not familiar with the REI membership return policy, I recommend it - I've returned/exchanged a couple things that haven't survived well on the trail, and they take it, no problem. Worth the extra $$ up front at REI to me. I also used to be against the Ogio flight vest, until I got sick of digging into my luggage for crap I needed on the trail. Now I use the vest for anything I'll need while riding - wallet, camera, tube, tools, munchies - and break into the luggage (Giant Loop Coyote) only in camp. A jacket gets strapped outside the GL, if I need to bring one. Straps only - no bungies. No matter how hard you cinch down a bungy, it'll always have more give - whoops will find a way to free anything you have bungied.
  22. So after my first trip to Big Bear last weekend, I'd really like to do the Big Bear Run next month. I plan to ride the hard routes, until I run out of gas to continue the hard way - but will be hard pressed to give up on bragging rights and bail to the easy routes. Anyway, I could use a riding buddy/group. I'm planning on staying at the Marine Corps Recreation Area cabins, which are cheap, awesome, not far from the Convention Center and have 3 beds, shower, and kitchen. I'm really looking forward to riding those trails with a rear brake this time... Anyone?

    Big Bear Run anyone?

I'm not an organizer for the Big Bear Run (which is what it seemed to me the Formal/Organized Ride section was about), I'm just looking for someone else participating in it that I can team up with. That being said, I DO want to get back up there, after I fix my rear brake, to run some of the other trails before the Run. I'm unable to ride this weekend and next - how about 24-26 May?
