  1. As I lay in my pop-up trailer at Butterfield Ranch late Friday night listening to the endless rain pelt the canvas, I couldn't help but think; "what's it going to be like riding in a flash flood?". Turns out its a blast. My friend and I both had a great time. We rode Saturday only and bailed out 3/4 way down the pole line road, calling it a day at 110 miles. Thanks to Randy and all the other volunteers, and my sincere apologies to the partially inebriated spectator girl standing next to the mud hole on the pole line road. It was an accident, really. I carried a camera all day and didn't take one damn picture. See you all next year.

    ATTN: Desert Dash People

I have a little Honda 2000 watt suitcase that I can bring to Butterfield Ranch. I am only planning on doing the Saturday loop, and given my exceptional physical conditioning; I fully anticipate needing all day Sunday to build up the strength and motivation needed to collapse my pop-up trailer on Monday morning. The generator will be available to support fridge operation on Sunday. I may be able to assist in fridge loading and unloading if you can tolerate my whining like a little girl. I'll be in the Silver Tundra, with the Fleetwood pop-up and a 530 KTM Mike Sutter

    Another New Guy

Hi, I'm just another 49 year-old guy who is desperately trying to retain some connection to my misspent youth. I'm a San Diego native, my first bike arrived Christmas 1973, a Suzuki TS 100. I was 13. Bikes to follow were: Kawi 175, YZ 125, RM 250, Montesa Trials, Kawi KT 250, XR 600 and some street bikes. I sold the XR in 94. Yah, that's a while ago! My sons (10 and 12) recently became interested in riding so I purchased a couple of bikes for them last year. They have remained interested, and my wife suggested that I should get a bike so that the three of us could ride together. She didn't have to tell me twice. I lurked here for awhile after I bought a KTM 530 EXCR. I just registered here and participated in a ride with some SDAR members on Oct 3rd. A really nice group of riders. I had a blast. See you out there. Mike

10 year-old has just about outgrown the XR 70, the 12 year-old just got a TTR 125 Yamaha. The TTR is the little wheel model, (14" and 16" rim sizes) The Honda has been passed down through at least 4 kids, The Yamaha only once. No gripes with either so far.

  6. I'm sorry I dropped out early. It looks like the last 2/3rds of the ride were great! It was very nice meeting all of you, and I look forward to more rides in the future. Thanks,
