    TM40 carb wow!

Trophyhunter, I wanted to use the keintech kit because it was $75 cheaper but it didnt come with the steel adapter collars, it uses new clamps to squeeze the oversize rubber couplers down to size, and it didnt come with a bag full of extra jets just in case, I let them know at pro cycle about my mods and they jetted and set up the carb accordingly for me, the idle was even set perfectly when I started it up. Since I am new to carb swaps (on bikes anyway) I wanted the quickest change over possible, I think it took all of 45 minutes to complete the whole job, and that included new cables. alyeska
  2. Bikes running good, but can't miss the playoffs, wifes a bigger fan than me and if she watches them alone I'll be alone all week. alyeska

  7. Great ride! met some more great club members (no more 2 strokes on these rides please!) Heart attack hill is still steep whether I am in a jeep or on a bike! alyeska
  8. Just spent the day working on the valves and carb on my dr 650, bike starting stammering on long steep grades in high gears, so carb was the suspect, I ran the valves anyway just to be sure, and changed plugs today, I cleaned the carb, cleared the jets, (were not blocked) and reassembled, problem was still there, so I took it apart again, and repeated also checking the float height with a caliper, all was good, then I found the cross shaft was pretty worn, so I am thinking heres my problem! I got it running again and sprayed water at the shaft and sure enough it effected the running. My dilemma now is, do I spend $449 at pro cycle for a tm40 kit or do I try to find another new or used oem unit? has anyone run the tm 40 kit? I noticed keintech has it for $375 which is $75 less than pro cycle, but it looks like it comes with less stuff. alyeska

    Tombstone 1/24

Great site, thanks. My last piece of equipment just left the house, so desert off road recovery is no more (at least with me running it) I was thinking of leaving friday morning now (1/28)and getting into tombstone before dark, but my schedule is wide open from this friday on. alyeska

    Help! carb problems

Your right about that! I bought a new dl100 in 09 and making it the way I wanted cost another $3k, and after a trip to the sierras with my wife in winter she won't even get near it anymore! alyeska

    Help! carb problems

Thanks trophyhunter, I think I will check that weld, this is the first used bike I have bought in years, lesson learned, you never know what people have done to a bike before you get it! I think I am into this thing now for around $4k and thats alot for a bike that books at $2500 high! but at least its going to be exactly the way I want it when done. I will post a ride notice when i know which day I am leaving, I am in the middle of selling my business and should close it by this friday, I figure after freeing myself of that burden I will cut loose in tombstone for a few days, some real good riding in that area, and you can get some decent beverages also. alyeska

    Help! carb problems

Drilled the second hole this morning, also cleaned vent filter and even tested removed, carl also told me about suzukis tiny filter inside the carb fuel inlet nipple, I removed that also, I think its combination worn out carb and cross shaft (the shaft that the brass butterfly is screwed to) these shafts caused alot of problems in buggy carbs, wearing very fast due to sand and dirt. I am done with it, anyone need parts? talked to carl at pro cycle 5 mins ago and just ordered the tm 40 kit, $500 kills me, but it seems they have the most complete kit ready to go pre jetted for my mods and comes with an extra jet kit and cables. If I had more time I would have put something else together, but I plan on a run to tombstone next week and I am riding the bike. Thanks again for the help troubleshooting. alyeska

    Pro cycle

Just thought I would give a plug to an outstanding parts supplier. In the last 2 weeks I have been ordering springs, chain guides, tanks, lights, etc. from jeff at www.procycle.us they are in oregon and seem to always have everything in stock (for my dr anyway), and he will ship the same day, of all the things I ordered I recieved most of them within 2 days and some sooner, this is huge to me since I live in a remote area and cannot always get to a local shop. I was just at 3 shops this week in town and could not even find an oil filter for my dr650, I finally found one in santee at a small shop. Talk to jeff if you need something fast without all the backorder crap (chapparal) . alyeska
  18. Has anyone done this? I bought the kit for my 06 xr650l and it was easy, but it looks like the dr has no smog pump and only has hose routing, any help appreciated. Thanks. alyeska

Look for the guy with the 5x size helmet. Its only about a 30 minute shot across pole line road to the arco in salton city if anyone needs gas. alyeska
