  1. Last thing I remember is standing up hauling ass down a fire road to make up time we lost messing with the husky.
  2. Thanks.. Yeah, I'll definitely be back next year!

Big Bear Run - June 21/22

I heard some jerk yardsaled himself this year at about the 1/2 way point and mangled his shoulder something fierce. I also heard that same jerk is excited to go back next year...
  5. Depending on how my shoulder heals up, i might be up for this!
  6. Ya know what the kicker here is?? I LOVE hard sections and boulders, grew up on the East Coast in the woods of New England. The disappointing and embarrassing thing here is that i am 99.9% sure, i crashed on a flat fire road... DOH!!

Who has a Garmin Montana and.....

Very cool mount!!! Custom? I got the Touratech one to ease hardwiring and so far so good with an epic high speed crash.. Zero damage to GPS! Yours looks a lot cleaner though! I dig it!

Yeah, i have mine re-arranged to make it easier, but its still nothing as easy as the 276C I will keep it and enjoy it, because it works so well, just adding my ,.02 on my opinions of the drawbacks

Who has a Garmin Montana and.....

I just bought a Garmin 78 (took GPSKevin's advice). One thing that I picked up researching before the buy was that the new Garmin 62's have a different OS than the 60's. Lot's of complaints due to the fact that it requires several more toggles through the menu to reach what your looking for on some pages. garmin 78.jpg That looks like a big pretty unit (no pun intended) for such a tiny screen in my opinion

Who has a Garmin Montana and.....

I used a 276c for almost 10 years and 10k miles of dual sporting through baja, Mojave, etc... In my opinion, best unit ever made for what we do!! Period! Mine died a few months ago, so replaced with the Montana 650t. The main HUGE advantage of the 276c is the use of their Mapsource software.. It is UBER easy to use and very customizeable. The Montana uses their new Basecamp software and it is 100% garbage, a pain in the ass, and take 5x as long to do anything compared to Mapsource!!! As for the units, here is my .02 276c pros: -Screen big and easy to see -very easy to do any functions -insanely durable 276c cons: -horrible battery life if not hard wired -VERY small memory options compared to new units -size (didn't bother me) 650T pros: -touch screen that works with gloves -satellite images using the Birdseye view are awesome -AWESOME battery life -5mp camera -huge memory -preloaded with GREAT Topo maps -perfect size 650T cons -the software on the PC end of it to get full use out of it is brain damaging poor in design and very tedious -have to scroll through several screens to do anything unlike the 276c which has hot buttons That's about all I can think of.. I love the 650t just REALLY hate the software! If you end up with a 276c, lemme know, I have a really nice Touratech mount for it I'd let go cheap! Big Bear Single Track?

Hey Guys I am going to Big Bear this weekend with a friend of mine.. Anyone have some trail names or # designations of some good single track? Going to map it out before we head out. Thanks Kevin

    Big Bear Single Track?

Ditto! I've ridden up there a lot YEARS ago and once i get the general area down i'll figure it out, just need a little guidance!
  17. Not a chance you will get to top speed in the straights, they are too short.. I ran my YZs with short gearing when racing, to "Squirt" out of corners faster, and that is where i made a good amount of my passes. Going up there with stock gearing would be plenty fun! I have Wednesdays off and will join ya! Lemme know Kevin
  18. Sold the Hayabusa and my YZ450 Supermoto to buy my dream bike.. Wanted one of these forever! Today it became a reality! 2011 BMW 1200GS Adventure 13k Miles From Original 60 year old owner afraid of dirt! Showroom clean and bits of Farkle a plenty! Lets hit it!
  19. Hey Guys... Brian is a good friend of mine.. I might head out there and join u guys for a bit on my EXC! Zoom Zoom! Kevin
  20. Just got back from an amazing trip to Gorman.. Never been there before but some of my Supermoto buddies that live up there rave about it so i went to check it out.. WOW!!!! We covered 65 miles of fast paced single track and only did maybe a 1/3 of it.. All of the trails are labeled like ski slopes, Green Circle, Blue Square, Black diamond.. They even have a huge MX track inside the park, and a small one for the kiddos.. First time here and definitely not my last! Its a drive, but well freaking worth it! Oh, and they allow camping too! Probably a good idea to spend the night there (i spent night BEFORE, and did it backwards, FAIL) after riding all day.. Place is freaking amazing! Highly recommend it!! Oh, and cost is $5 PER VEHICLE!! Plates arent required, but registration is.. Red sticker ends May 1.. Then Green Sticker or Plates only, and yes, they were checking! Some pics:
  21. Nope, no issue at all.. We had a plated bike, a green sticker, and a red sticker bike with us.. All were fine. Red stickers are ok until May 1
  22. Honestly, i am not sure.. I went with 2 buddies that live up there and were my guides. I had never been before and don't know the area at all.. From what they (and a few others said) were that they occasionally close down trails due to staffing, and inability to maintain them all. Also, so they don't all get overused i guessed.. Someone posted a link to a website somewhere in this thread that lists what is open and when.. Sorry i cant be of more help, i was just a follower! K
  23. I was there last week... That Snowy Creek trail and the other really cool stuff is closed due to some fire earlier in the year.. My buddies that i was with that live up there said its epic! Yeah, definitely have all your stuff legit, they checked out registration and our spark arrestors when we pulled in..
  24. Anyone interested in riding April 2nd?? Let me know.. Down for whatever.. I am an intermediate rider. I am in Clairemont and can fit a bike and body in my truck if ya wanna venture further away. Lemme know Thanks Kevin
