    Tracks to big Bear

There are several fire roads from Silverwood lake that can get you up to Big Bear. You literally can take any trail in the direction of BB and it will get you there. It's that easy.
  2. I did this ride on December 29th and got fucked up bad, broke 3 vertebrae, collapsed lung, bruised liver, bruised kidney, broken 6 ribs in multiple locations and did a number on the ol' collar bone. Crash occurred just after the cattle guard after exiting the single track. It was a weird one, stuck a rain rut or something and POW. I don't remember much, wish I did so I could understand what went wrong. Anyhoo, I ended up taking the fire roads back to the truck, that was the longest ride of my life, was in a lot of pain, good thing the adrenaline was pumping, otherwise, not sure how I would have pulled it off. Thanks to my good pal JB, he was a big help in ensuring that I got an ambulance ride to the trauma center. Couple surgeries later and I'm doing good, 3-4 months off work, laid up on the couch, pain meds, physical therapy, etc, etc. Starting to get a little stir crazy, DVDs, books, netflix, blah blah blah, I just want to be healthy, haha. 5. ha, I see what you did there lol So what about that frame tape, does that pre-cut stuff hold up? I normally use the skateboard grip tape, little more durable, but sucks trying to cut it to size, not as clean and factory looking as the pre-cut stuff.

That thing is cool, that's like the motojack rack design, solid mechanical security, peace of mind with that product imo

    Biker Hauler Question

That's still a lot of tongue weight mainly due to the cantilever installation.

    Biker Hauler Question

Personally, I think the Moto Jack rack is more secure than a Joe Hauler. However, Moto Jack Rack went out of business. I have one that I don't use, kinda like to keep it around in case I do ever need it. But if seriously interested, maybe we could work out a deal. There is a famous picture used for ASV advertising where someone's zook fell off a Joe Hauler and the bike was totally beat up, looked like a trophy truck drug it through Baja, needless to say, the ASV levers were still intact. For years that exact bike sat in the entrance of Cycle Pars West in Orange County. I will try to look for the picture.

    ADV Rider!

It was a silly joke, seeing Zepfans payload made me think of that picture. It's not my set up, came across that somewhere on the interwebs, so I'm not sure who it belongs to. I'm on KTM 500EXC.

  21. The current design threshold does not withstand the extreme conditions, doesn't mean that they can be designed such there is enough margin for extreme conditions, just whether or not the purchasing entity desires the elevated costs associated with a robust enough design to withstand the cyclic loading. The real question is...when a wind turban falls in the desert and nobody’s there, does it make a noise?

    Ride and camp

Nice report, thanks for sharing. Guessing it was a bit chilly for camping
  23. I always carry a couple tie downs. Came in handy few years back in Big Bear......end of a long day of riding, super beat, improper gearing, climbing through a chunky section, started to get wheel spin, then she hooked up, bike rocketed out from under me and down into a ravine, about 20 feet. Took us 2 hours to haul that pig out. We saw jeepers all day long on the trail with the exception of that 2 hour window.
