If only there were a 950 cc (or so) enduro type bikes - that weighed close to 400 lbs. You'd think someone would make something like that.

We had a fatality on a street ride about 3 miles east of the CALFire Rincon station on the 76. We waited 30 minutes for help.

After some time out after a street get off, I am back in the saddle. After torturing myself about it for 6 months, I picked this up last Friday. See ya'll out there.

From John Hermann: What were you doing on April Fool’s Day thirty eight years ago? I know. I was riding my beautiful silver smoke BMW 90S. I’d recruited a friend on a Kawasaki Z1, another on a Honda Four, and a third on a Suzuki 1100, to go for a ride out Wildcat Canyon. We started from Bob’s Big Boy on El Cajon Blvd. They were leading. Just north of the dip, I saw them go off the road. Then I saw why. A red Datsun pickup was headed straight for me. It didn’t deviate until it hit me and knocked me and the 90 S down. The Datsun driver got out with a piece of pipe that he swung at my Bell Star helmet, yelling, “Get off the reservation.” Eventually, my three friends returned and we limped back to civilization. In January of the following year, we finally got the driver in court, where he muttered constantly, “I’ll get you.” That left me hesitant to ride Wildcat Canyon, that great escape from city roads, until a BMW club rider said, “Come on. We’ll all go. You’ll be safe with us.” So now,thirty eight years later, I need all the help I can get to keep me safe through Wildcat Canyon on Sunday, April 3. We’ll depart from Giovanni’s about 9:30, make a pit stop at Dudley’s about 10:30, over Mesa Grande and down to Bate’s Nut Farm about 11:45, then celebrate at San Diego BMW Motorcycles for BBQ.

I'm in discussions with a guy selling a '14 500 EXC. He tells me he got it from someone who crashed and broke their arm so got rid of it. Haven't seen it yet, but I'm wondering if any of the miscreants on this site have knowledge of the bike and how badly is was wadded up after the crash. Bike currently has +/-2800 miles on it. So... I'm looking at the 1190R. Been off the bikes for over a year. Falling down at 40 sucked. I know we've got some Orange fantatics here, so what would YOU do to a new one? Rottweiler air intake? Stabilizer? Bags - hard or soft? Bigger tank? Input on accessorizing appreciated.

A low miles, gently used SE. I'd love one, but it's like a unicorn.

I'm still recovering from surgery and won't be riding this Dash. I kept my reservation on one of the larger cabins, because I didn't wan to lose my right of first refusal next year. SO... If you and 2 friends want to sleep in beds, have access to a real bathroom - tub/shower, toilet; kitchen - microwave oven, fridge etc; there's also a folding couch. You are responsible for linens. All other items such as utensils, pans, dishes, coffee maker AND toilet paper are provided. NOTE: TURN THE HOT WATER HEATER SWITCH ON UPON ARRIVAL. It's comfortable and reasonably priced. A friend has the Tenere and loves it. He's got nerve issues in his hands and swears it's the smoothest ride he's had. He also has a Tiger 800XC and still loves it for "just pure fun." ​I've got a lot of backroad/fireroad twisty touring miles on the 800XC. From here to Moto GP to Eureka and then back via 36 and ultimately 7 sierra, passes... Most fun I've had on a bike. When all the drama is done with the R12R, that's what's being added to the stable... Unless I can buy an SE 950R off a friend with some spares.

Let's clear one thing up: There's no rule that says you have to crash. No matter WHAT type of bike you ride. In fact, as a friend of mine says, that's unadulterated horseshit. He doesn't say it like THAT when teaching Streetmasters, but get him alone... Educate yourself. Get training above and beyond MSF (Streetmasters, Total Control, etc), and practice. Practice. Practice. - But practice with "correct" positioning and cornering strategies. Dirt will make you a more proficient street rider. BMWOCSD and San Diego Sportbike Meetup are both new(er) rider friendly with some good people.

It 's the 2010. Now, with 73K, the 2010 looks as good as new. The '07 died on HVR as well, but that was pilot error. [No more whacking the throttle at lean in tight stuff.] The tank bag saved that ugly steel tank from any damage, but most everything else on both sides was scuffed up/ground down. The guys behind me said it barrel rolled and then cartwheeled a couple of times.

I were everything - every time I throw a leg over the bike. Klim Badland Jacket. Sidi waterproof armored boots. Lee Parks Deerskin gauntlet style gloves, Triumph pants. Yeah, it's overkill... except when it's not. I was riding with some friends in the BMW club on March 9th... Just a regular day. Tore it up on Highland Valley's fun stuff, then eased up for the simple stuff after the school. As I was exiting that sweeping left just past the Wildlife place I suddenly found myself on the ground. At about 45mph. Started sliding then went into the death tumble. What happened? Tranny drain plug has fallen out and my rear tire had become oil soaked. Completely unexpected, and could have happened on the way to the store as easily as it did on the way to Santa Ysabel. I got a little scuffed on my ass when the seat tore, but came away remarkably unscathed even after doing the death roll. Pants failed on my ass. Jacket had a ground down spot just below the elbow. Helmet got dinged up. Gloves and boots pretty scuffed. AGATT. Period. Oh, and that drain plug? Bike had recently been serviced at SDBMW.

Did the previous owner have an unfortunate accident... yet?
