    Slow Look Press and Roll?

Chuck's old spot has been usurped by some douchebag, but he's out there every weekend giving us what we want. The dude on the UJM has been watching too much Moto GP, but at least he was all geared up. Oh wait... BTW: Please pay for the image he shoots and you use. His work is pretty good, he works hard, takes a risk, and deserves to be paid for the images from which you benefit. Don't just swipe them from his site without paying. Thanks.

    14 Legs, 7 Wheels

Thank you for taking the time to write this up. No easy thing, I know. GREAT STORY!
  4. FINALLY!!! MCN has entered the 21st Century. Most of you probably subscribe to MCN and likely got an email about the new digital version.. Those that haven't... If I were to get only ONE magazine, this would be the one. Great bike and doo-dad reviews, moto industy news, informative and enjoyable columns, tech question/answers, and a regular comprehensive price guide.
  5. Everyone I've talked to says he is a real class act.
  6. That happened to me headed up towards 4 corners while a largish group of SDARs were coming down. 1150GS fully in my lane in the turn. Blind f'in luck.

Spin off ... What have you Hit ?

Hit a pit bull on Mesa Grande about .5 north of Black Canyon. It put a pretty good dent in my header and messed the dog up pretty badly. The header was replaced. I assume the dog was, too.
  9. Friend of mine knows a guy- Ned Suesse (2012 Dakar finisher)- who gave him this tip: Buy a Starbucks gallon of coffee. Drink coffee. Clean well. Fuel filled bladder goes in backpack.

    Ok, so I'm cheap.........

A young came into the service counter at SDBMW on a new G650 and the Bilt Adventure package. He said the helmet was the "worst helmet he'd ever had." I said, "Well, it's not like it protecting anything important."

    Shipping a bike

After spending some time at a dealership, I have this to offer: 1) Get the bike crated correctly - It must have a correctly sized motorcycle crate. I received a few bikes on make shift pallets and all suffered freight damage. Dealerships in the area can be contacted. They have to dispose of the pallets anyway, so they MAY give them away. They'll charge you to prep the bike and secure it to the crate - and why not? 2) Use a company that is going to ship it IN a freight truck, not ON a car carrier. See No. 1.

    Sold

It just seems like KTM is trying to make their Adventure BMWesque. What ever happened to less is more?

    Tents

I picked up the Drifter 3 on Sale at REI. It isn't the cheapest or most expensive, but it's got room for me my stuff (and perhaps a guest), and it has kept me dry and warm.
  17. Watch for 2 way traffic. I was there a few weeks ago and some jerkoffs were coming up Rouse side by side. It's pretty rutted up in some spots. Those damn 4 wheel guys just can't stop themselves.
  18. I'm not a fan of Barcia - His antics the last 2 years really put me off - but he was on fire Saturday. He's 50/51 points behind Dungey/Millsaps. Assuming they both finish the last 2 races, he ain't going nowhere. RV may have decided not to push it given the point spread, but he has been consistent great all year. He's the champ. No doubt. Millsaps did well, and then settled down and eventually out. Dungey is Mr. Dependable, and - based on where he was after turn 1 and where he was at the checkered flag - may have taken Seattle but for the pileup after the start. Then again, RV would have had a reason to go all out if Millsaps or Dungey had been challenging. If I were a better - and I'm not - I'd say Dungey is going to take 2nd overall. I'm hoping both 250s will go to KTM. The racing has been great and both of those riders are nice kids. Hey, I suffer from KTM envy, too.

    No Toil Filter Treatment

Notoil is fantastic. Cleaning the filters in a sink. Who'da thunk. As for it being water soluble... not without the special powder. If oxyclean removes it, I'm in!
  21. John Herman's 35th ANNUAL WILDCAT CANYON RIDE When: April 14, 2013. 9:30 - 2 Where: Giovanni's on Clairemont Mesa/Ruffin Rd. Restaurant opens at 8:00. What: 36 Years ago, one of San Diego's most renowned riders was attacked by an Indian on Wildcat Canyon Road. Being leery of riding that road again, a group of friends offered to escort "The King of the Alps" through the reservation. As the years went on, this became one of the larger local rides people of all backgrounds and bikes participating. Ride ends at San Diego BMW Motorcycles with a hosted lunch.

    Bike camping chairs

I bought that thing. I used it once and got rid of it the next day. The ubiquitous Kermit chair is the ticket to comfortable camp lounging. They also come with leg extensions and a cup holder.
