  1. I was one of those street-tards last Saturday - what a blast! I figured I should have a put a post here, will try to remember ahead of time before the August race. Shoot me a PM if you're (or anyone else is) planning to go. Would be great to have some more adventure racers
  2. Wow, what an 'adventure'. Enjoying all the pics and threads, E-N-V-I-O-U-S! BTW, Quote of the week:

    hard clutch pull

What year is the yamaha? My '01 yz250f clutch is the same way and is a work out in technical stuff. Same thing, tough clutch. Here are a few helpful mods (for most older models): http://www.thumperfaq.com/clutch_mods.htm Should help soften it up to feel more like a WR than a full out motocross setup. PS> Swapping cables on mine didn't help. I still need to do the above mods, someday

Pleasure riding with ya today, looking forward to more in the future. Ahh shucks. You're just saying that cause my bike is black What an incredible atmosphere yesterday. A solid effort by all, now if only we could have rode through the preserve area I know, I know... Couple of pics of heart attack hill, looking from the top down. http://s112.photobucket.com/albums/n175/th...DRZ/Mickey_SAR/

Need a good shop for a/c stuff on car

Usually a result of the bearings/races being worn within the clutch mechanism of the compressor. Depending on your compressor, you may be able to change out the bearings without replacing the whole compressor (without uninstalling the compressor, too). It may depend on your vehicle/compressor type. Try to find a place that knows your vehicle or a/c, keep in mind most shops will probably be lazy and simply want you to buy a new compressor == $$. Good luck...

My Saturday plans feel through, so I'll be out there hopefully by 9am. In case I'm late, is there an established freq or repeater I could monitor? -Greg
  7. For those of us with radios, what freq will we be using for this ride? Noob question - is there a default freq used for trail rides (I noticed 146.505 posted in a different ride thread)? Glacias

    Portable fuel containers

REI has them for the same price as well, i have four of them and they work flawlessly. +1
  9. You guys are really building my expectations here; don't let us noobs down I'll be bringing my passpost/radio as well - looking forward to an epic day of riding with good weather (knock on wood)!

    Another Newb - Hi!

The lighting sucks, to be honest. I find myself following to close behind others so I can use their headlights at night Doesn't help that I just changed my goggles tint. I'm kinda over the look 'n feel of it and really wish I didn't flebay my stock setup I have a custom carbon fiber 'number plate' so that helps mix it up a bit and keep the 'black is faster' look - lol. Looking forward to the RIDE on Sunday
  11. If there's still room for a FNG, I'd like to join in on the fun Sunday! With all the rain recently, any idea on how deep the water crossing(s) are? PS, will try to bring along my helmet cam as well. I hate video editing (I have no patience), but don't mind posting raw footage in case others have a nack for it

    Another Newb - Hi!

The arm coming out from the stabilizer doesn't reach 'beyond' the pin enough. It's short by just a wee bit. Almost seems like the bar clamps are 180* off, but they're offset and the mounting holes for the the top clamp are then out of whack. Seems like the wrong parts. Arrgh. Pics will do a better job of explaining: (img removed, up above still) After a couple Pacifico's and quite a bit of staring, I figured it out. Somehow the washer that should be under the steering stem nut found it's way under the triple tree causing it not to sit flush and properly seat. It's still a bit tight, but at least now the pin fits in the arm - Id10T error In other news, I have a working stabilizer now - yay :lazy:
  13. Mexico will take anyone It's only upon return that you'll be checked, scrutinized, asked to bend over, etc :lazy: Speaking of return trips, how long/quick is the return line on a bike via Tecate crossing? I've never rode across the border before...

    Another Newb - Hi!

Like wise, I might head out tomorrow to Mccain or CC to meet some folks. Although, I ran into a snag w/ the DRZ today. Trying to install a GPR (sitting around on my sportbike) and think I was given the wrong 'kit' - specifically mentioned SM too, arrgh. Basically, the arm on the GPR is to short to reach the thingamajig that mounts to the frame.
