Well I broke my foot and ankle this weekend at Ocotillo so I'm out anyhow!

That's what I had done to mine + cam, full pipe, 680cc, 9.5-1 piston. the tank is FREE. Craig. What cam did you install? I have an FMF Q4 can (not installed) and was thinking of getting the FMF header too.

So I headed out this morning to get more off-road seat time. This time I took the GS with a newly installed TKC80 front tire. I should have taken my bags off but I decided to go with them anyhow. Bike handled well but a big brutish. I took I-15 to Pala 76 then Nate Harrison Grade, onto S7 then made my way home from 67. Nice day out for a ride. Next time I'll do the same route but with the XR.

Thanks guys. It's a 2002. I rebuilt the motor just after buying it from a dishonest dude. I sent the head to XR's Only for new valves and guides, springs, port and polish, and the big fins welded on. I installed a new piston and rings, and had the cylinder bored and honed. I felt accomplished and must enjoy it now.

I rode out to Pine Valley from downtown on my XR650L with stock tank. I was so concerned about fuel so I filled up downtown, then when I got the the Pine Valley exit, rode 5-8 miles on the trail, then set fro home when the Sun was coming down. Here's a pic anyhow. More to come!

Make a deal ahead of time with the sweep riders....bribe them with something good....bottle of Patron, perhaps? LOL. Maybe a possibility!

I want to do this ride but not sure if my skills are up to it. I have some off road skills, definitely more road/track and supermoto time than dirt (roughly 90k miles under my belt). Been off-roading between my GS1200 and XR650L maybe 8 times and never crashed. My weakness is that I cannot change a tire nor a tube (guess I still have time). Needless to say I can handle the rocks and trails. Will there be a support network (in case I get a flat)? Reel me in!
