  1. Ouch... I hope you'll follow the advise and that you'll heal fast!
  2. signit98

    Really?

I saw your report, Chris... no fun! Glad you found help, though.... you learn the value of that quickly in situations like that. That is why I NEVER refuse to help...
  3. I did the search without the OHV stuff and it led me to the Malibu canyons... I knew that couldn't be it... smartass Thanks... so, it's one of those "I have often driven by but always ignored it" type of deals... worthwhile, it seems!?
  4. Where exactly is this particular Corral Canyon, if I may ask? Thank you.
  5. Yeah, we had to go down the 8 and then cross over the S2 to Agua Caliente... where the bastard sat in the Pool and had just eaten Sorry I didn't stop, but you just waived and everything seemed ok.. it didn't click with me that the other guy was with you... luckily, Kirk on the Husky was more coherent.
  6. Did my buddy on the Husky stop to tell one of you that the other was waiting at another gate? Up on Sunrise? We were just on our way back to the truck, to pick up another friend who was stranded in the desert...

    No, REALLY!

What really got me was that I got stuck in the burning heat of the desert last weekend, no water, virtually no shade and waiting for over 4 hours... while he today was instantly invited to join some folks who were camping at Agua Caliente. After the remaining two of us blasted up Mason Valley Truck trail (very nice right now, btw.) and then back to Alpine to pick up the truck, we drove down the 8 and then across S2 to pick him up. When we got there, he sat in the pool, well fed and just having fun... SIGH! It was still a fun day... some nice riding to be had right now!

    No, REALLY!

Then we meandered along S2, looking for roads to discover, when my buddies dinosaur ATK decided that 4 valves are to many and dropped one... AT FULL SPEED! Yeah... engine stuck, he is stuck... the truck was in Pine Valley... here he is, in search of what was wrong. The initial thought was timing belt. Then the starter motor clutch... no mas. Maybe it's time to rethink?

    No, REALLY!

Then we figured out why the Phantom Trail is called that way... somewhere in the last third on the way down, all of a sudden THE TRAIL WAS GONE!!!
  10. While last weeks trip required a mud-stuck-puddle-rescue, today's variety was that of a broken-valve-hits-piston which in turn lets engine decide to strike (pun intended). I don't think I am going to ride with him anymore... We started with this somewhere along Laguna Meadow Road...

    Really?

Took 3 guys and a 3000 pound winch, believe it or not... any attempt of towing just let to the front end digging in deeper... top was hardening while the lower layers were super soft. Even with the winch, it took two of us to constantly pull the front up, in order to get anything done... and we were winching from a 10' elevated level.

    Really?

Ouch, Mimi... to his credit, I'll have to say the the engine was off before he even went all the way in and that he did not even try to motor the bike out... Mctrails... I was prepared to do the same...
  13. signit98

    Really?

For Sale... CHEAP! Husky 510, CA Street Legal... low miles. PayPal money, we'll give you coordinates... I had so much fun with this AFTER we were all said and done and no one got hurt (well, except for that badly bruised ego)... This picture was taken after we had tried for an hour to at least raise the bike a little...

    Really?

You can't miss it, trust me. It's in the San Felipe wash, I believe... and not something you'd blindly run into. We had been out riding for a while and I guess the sun and the heat had just gotten to him... when he was standing there, even contemplating the whole stunt, I was thinking to myself "No, he will NOT"... just to see him try seconds later. Brain fart, simple as that. Here is a picture of what it looked like after the bike was out and after we had already cleaned up quite a bit of the dirt... uhu!
  15. ...there are still mud-puddles in the desert? My buddy found this one somewhere between Superstition and Ocottillo Wells... 5 hours and $150 later, we were on our way back to Plaster City (where we parked) again... fun times! To further elaborate... the picture was taken seconds after he "dipped" in... the bike (and he) was still sinking and stuck so badly that after an hour of the two of us trying to exhaustion, the bike was down to radiator level. Peg stuck in the side of the dirt, wheels in the mud... Tow guy came with his Kawasaki Mule and winched it out. No one got hurt and we replaced both fork seals today I am still laughing...
