  1. Thanks guys. I know Black Mountain is closed, but the others should make for some good practice.
  2. I'm going to be doing a dry run of my touring setup with the KLR sometime early next week. I'd like to spend Monday riding as much easy dirt as I can in the area, then setting up camp on top of Palomar. What are some good roads in the area to practice riding a fully loaded KLR?
  3. Can anyone recommend some easy "Adventure Ride" style routes near Superstition? Some friends are heading there the weekend of the 12th and 13th to go play around in the dunes and I'm planning on riding my KLR out to meet them. I'm not really interested in thrashing it around that weekend so I'm looking for some easy, low-stress routes to go exploring on. I've never been to that area, but I've heard about some mud flats that are supposed to be cool.

Hope there were no serious injuries! I'm looking forward to the report....
  5. Hey everyone, thanks for the great ride! I don't have much to add to the report, but I got my pictures up on SmugMug for y'all http://levvy.smugmug.com/gallery/4490478_84JFf
  6. FYI - a bunch of stuff came up and I'm not going to be able to make the trip. Sorry guys.

Awesome ride everyone! I'll get my pictures posted up sometime this weekend. Thanks for organizing this Chris!
  8. Are you still going this weekend? Let me know how your run goes - I still need to figure out a route.
  9. EDIT - Trip canceled for a variety of reasons (and some personal responsibilities that came up that weekend). Details on AdvRider: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=318386

Don't worry about the pace Gery - I'm a noob on a KLR No one gets left behind - ride at your own pace and you'll be fine. ALL SKILL LEVELS WELCOME!
  12. Alright, I've been slapped with the n00b stick for not reading the rules about posting rides involving questionable routes: http://www.dualsport-sd.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=1225 I'll keep searching and see what other areas I can dig up.
  13. No ----, I work right next to you I'm in the big office park with all the ViaSat buildings. I'm in 6197, the one non-ViaSat building. Daryl, let me know if you want to meet up. That sounds great once it starts staying light later. I can't get off work until 6, so it might be a few weeks before it stays light enough for a full ride for me.
  14. Does anyone know of any fun dirt roads in the Carlsbad/San Marcos area? I work near Palomar Airport and I'd love to find some nearby riding I can hit during lunch on the KLR. Not looking for anything gnarly, just some decent public access roads I can tool around on.

I was thinking of exploring some of the backroads up in the Ramona area if you'd like to come along. Has anyone been riding around the Guejito Road, Black Mountain TT, Lusardi TT area? EDIT - Nevermind, they're still closed from the fire.
