  1. Well its been a week since the ride happened. I met Dave Cisar at the ride. The weather was good as it had been snowing in the park on Wed.Their was mostly large Adventure bikes on this ride ,75% big ones to regular dual sports. Dave and I shared GPS duty leading a few riders around. One rode a HP2 all the way from MI and the other was on a 1150 GS. A few pictures. I spent a frosty nite at Keysville after a windy and cold ride threw the Mojave. The next morning I got detoured by snow on the 155 and had to go around on the 178 About 100 riders showed up. Great group! Great rivers running like crazy Great back roads ! Only single lane ,no passing for two cars. Stoped at the oldest bar in CA. Groveland Sunday we rode into the park. Had our lunch stop at Sentinel Beach. Our Group Dave ? me ? I can,t remember names The ride ended and I enjoyed the park. Bear Waterfalls More back roads on mondays ride home. Stoped at the Poppy Preserve. So I wish I had more time to explore the Gold Rush Country so it is a good excuse to go on a another ride. Later Ken
  2. You're going to drive all the way over from El Centro for pizza and beer then drive back to El Centro??? You've demonstrated how serious you are and you're definitely "in"......but stay home......that's just nutty Mabey he is going to fly in ?
  3. Chris you buying ? Im In
  4. Look for the updated Luguna Hanson ride thread if interested for more infro. Thanks
  5. Sat with a Corona Well you wonder about something going wrong. But strength in numbers and a little adventure spirit ,being somewhat prepared, and not getting to crazy helps a lot. Baja really has a lot of riding, just have to get out their and do it.
  6. So we finally get to the highway from T.J. to Tecate. A quick ride on the slab , bust threw the boarder, and back in the good Ole USA. Every body split to go home and get rid of the Po. Thanks Gene for posting the ride ,a good way to spend a Sat.
  7. We had a good ride back. We picked up the pace because it was a late in the afternoon. Back threw Ponchos and then we took a road toward,s T.J. We passed The plateau that you see when you look south beyond San Diego. I heard you can ride up on top but I think you need some locals to take you up their. It seemed all fenced. Good views.
  8. We finally made it to Cantarmar, stopped to gas up ,went to the restaurant. We sat in the coroner because we still smelled like Po. The food was good ,I had a burger and the meat was tender like meatloaf. A few drinks and we were good to go.
  9. So the rest of the story. Well Mikes bike was dead in the water. He pushed it on shore ,seat off ,water in the air box( vent was clogged )we tipped it up ,tank off ,plug out ,kicked for one and half hrs. to find spark. No visible spark but it started with a little bit of prodding. All back together and off to Ponchos. Ponchos is a way station on the middle of no where. A lot of riders that are coming from T. J. stop. Mostly quads . Had a soda and we were off.
  10. So after the Po we were hitting every puddle to get the stinky mess off our bikes. It did not work ! It is now 9 hours after the fact and I still smell it. We come up to a river crossing ,it did not look to bad but Mike was the first one in . ( He wanted to get the Po off ASAP ) So of course he falls in the water and drowns his bike out. But his bike was a lot cleaner after its bath. More to come tomorrow
  11. So we are riding threw the countryside ,passing nice green fields and cows grazing. Not just a few cows but a couple feed lots of them . Maybe a few hundred cows, maybe a thousand, I don,t know. As we are going a long off in the distance we see big long puddle . No big deal because we had already rode threw some of them. Their was a semi truck pushing a clapped put Toyota pickup threw the puddle . No big deal ,maybe the Toyota sucked up some water in the intake. All the people in the trucks gave us a funny look. Mike was the first one in the puddle and I followed. Well the puddle end up being Po Po . All Po Po ,solid liquid Po Po ,Cow Po Po. Needless to saw we dared not fall in this sh#$ ) Now I grew up on a dairy farm in WI.and I know Po Po ,I used to handle this Po Po,Worked with Po Po but this was the most Po that I have ever seen. My theory is that a Po reservoir( sh#$ pit ) over filled with the rain and it burst its seams. Maybe it was weaked with the earthquake-who knows but we were all covered in Po!
  12. Kug if you went on a ride and didn't call me I'm a gonna be p-ssed. You would have been pissed after this ride !
  13. Thanks to Gene ( 2 wheels ) four of us showed up to ride from Tecate to Cantarmar for lunch . Gene Kerry,Mike and me the Kug.Crossing the boarder was no problem for most but I got stopped and had to show my registration. It was a nice day, not to cold for the pavement ride to Valle las Palmas. Once we hit the dirt all was good. We had to dodge puddles, mud holes ,small wash outs.It looks like it rained a lot their in the last few days. We took our time as Gene was stoping to verify his GPS track. He misplaced his good GPS and had to use his back up that did not have a mount. It was nice and green ,all is good.
  14. Looking forward to it. Is it Sat yet?
  15. I went to the White Mtn Research ( ADV ) ride a few times . I might go again this year but would like to meet up with you guys for a beer ( oh crap I will be riding my bike ) We will see what happens later.
  16. I think I will make this one. 95% positive. If something comes up I will let you know. Will look for details. Ken
  17. I really don,t know much of this event ,so thats why I signed up for only one day. I really am using it as a excuse to go on a four day ride and to check out something new.
  18. Basicly this ride is canceled for this date. I was a little late posting it. Their is a lot of interest on the same ride later in May and or June. I will post up a new date soon and we will see what happens. Thanks
  19. Is any one up for a ride to Laguna Hanson It just rained ,probably all green down their, have, ent been for awhile, need to go! Looking for two or more semi experienced Baja riders. ( Strength in numbers ) Loop from the boarder-Sawmill for gas-casa Verde-back on Compadre. Sat is better for me so we can recover on Sun. Anyone ??
  20. Hail --I am signed up for Sat only. Yes we could ride togeather at the event. I am going to be doing my own thing on the way up ( camping-exploring ) and will probley ride on my own Sun and start heading home. So we need to get contact infro before the event. Later Ken
  21. Well Baja is a mixture of everything.Paved roads, dirt roads, jeep roads, sandwashes, whoops, single track. You always have to be on your game because you might drop in a hole, get kicked sideways on a root, have a head on collision with a bike or a military Humvee. Its pretty good riding! You can go forever if you want. No boundaries. Mileage wise my guess about a 140-160 mile loop. Depends on how many side trails you take. You need a passport, well prepped bike and at least 100 mile fuel range to be on the safe side. Its looking like more people will be able to go in May -June some time, so maybe I will pick a date for later.
  22. Look in Baja thread for more infro.
