  1. I found it varies by In-N-Out. I love the ones in PB and Ventura, but the further inland I get the less I favor them; the only exception is on the way to Vegas, sometimes the one near Barstow is all right. Anyhow, after a day at the beach I crave a double double animal style and sometime will throw in a rootbeer float for kicks. However, I'll take any In-N-Out over most other burger joints with a drive through.

  2. So I know it is sacrilegious to promote another fast food burger place that directly competes with In-N-Out, but its got to be said, because it is good, really really good. And dare I say, I like their burger more??? What???

    Five Guys Burgers & Fries

    Liberty Station in Pt Loma

    2445 Truxton Road

    San Diego, 92106

Background- Five Guys is essentially the east coast In-n-out based out of Virginia. I got hooked when I was temporarily assigned out there. Same business model, fresh, never frozen. And now, they are here!

Do they still have the trays of peanuts to eat while you're waiting? I've been to a few Five Guys in various cities; good to know there's one here now.

  3. And it was probably some of the best riding I've had in months. :D I've always had friends, coworkers and neighbors in law enforcement, so I might be more at ease and show more respect than people who have had negative encounters, but today I had an awesome experience.

I was sitting at a stoplight in the far west reach of town having just got off work. I had my one earphone in with music playing, and my visor up. I catch an officer splitting cars and coming up on me and then he pulls up on my right with a big smile and asks how my day was going. We BS until the light turns green and I let him lead the way. Somehow we managed to hit literally every light from west to the center of town and at each light we shared the lane and swapped stories like old pals and came to find out we live in the same rural community up the hill, so he let me hang off his fender while moving and made room for me alongside at the stops as we cruised through town.

Just before our fun little highway grade he lets me know that both he and I need to respect the CHP, but he doesn't mind me hanging with him for a little spirited run up the hill. I had so much fun cruising up the grade and I was laughing like a little kid. I knew he was going straight when I had to make a right, so gave a wave, a head nod and rode home smiling from ear to ear.

Never met the guy before, yet he let a kid on a pseudo sport bike chit chat with him and hang out like an impromptu riding partner. I wish more of my riding buddies had his attitude and skills on a bike  .

Anyhow, long story short...there are awesome people out there, some of them wear uniforms, and not all of them are out to get us. He could have given me crap for the visor up, earphone in, missing reflectors, fender eliminator, and who knows what else. Instead we had a fun ride and I hope he passes along the story of a younger guy on a bike being pretty cool and having a fun ride home.

  4. Name: Hendo's Local Pizza and Pints

    Type: Pizza, pasta, salad, ect...

    Location: San Elijo

Website: Hendo's Local Pizza and Pints

    Cost: $$

    Recommended By: Craig

Notes: Sit anywhere, but order at the bar.

I ride Elfin Forest almost every day on my lunch, but normally turn around and head back into Escondido for a quick bite. Stumbled across this place on accident after getting fuel and have now found my new local pizza, beer, and probably sports watching spot. Pizza was great, salads looked good, and staff was super nice. Three TVs hanging about the bar, and a nice shaded patio to hang out outside. It's in the town square, so it's easy to get to.

Anytime someone wants to ride through Elfin, I'd be willing to meet up there for lunch or dinner. Also the owner, or managers boyfriend rides a KTM, so they might even have orange kool-aide

If Christy is your waitress tell her the kite guy sent ya B)

  5. I have always loved Cougars, 351 c or w

 I love wearing my Cougar Club of America shirt around.

Actually, 67/68 had 289, 302, 390, 427, or 428s. Mine started life as a 302 4bbl, but I built up a 347 off of a new 302 roller block. The 69-73s moved up to the 351 c's and w's to give some umph to the bigger cat and had optional 390, 428, 429 or boss 302 choices.

  6. I dusted off my old Cougar, the 4 wheeled kind  , this last weekend and might head down to Cruizn Grand this Friday. My parents are typically down there with a car or two, so I might as well join them.

I'll wave if I see you. Keep an eye out for this:

Nice Blazer by the way!

  7. Looks like a blast!

I always had the most fun on my stand ups, but the blaster is the next closest thing! They're fun to watch people try to back on from the water too. Takes a little more balance and skill than the giant couches.

    Is that a local lake?

  8. I know I'm slow, but those guys make me look like I'm riding a moped with training wheels.

I actually watched Dust to Glory yesterday too just so I could feel even worse about my desert riding ability.

I love watching those guys out there.

  9. I think it was KLRoger at Glamis North that told me to drill holes through the fender near the clips and then run a zip tie through the holes and clips/straps to help secure the fender bag.

Now me being lazy, I haven't done this yet, but may just do this before heading out.
