Schwinn, did you get a pic of me going up fairchild? I went right before Charlie. I need a good screen saver.
Awesome Schwinn! Thanks, Ben

I would have never thought I would ride through some of the challenges we did at the dash this year. Especially "pole line river" The advice to "just wheelie off the edge into the water" was just nuts! After seeing the KTM rider in front of us do it we knew it was possible but holy sh#t! The KTM rider before him endoed and was completely submerged then was hydro locked without a plug socket to pump it out. Charlie went first with no problems. I was second and made it through alright just stalled it on the other side and had to drain the airbox before I could fire it up. Jeff kicked it's ass with no trouble even though he was obviously WAY more worried than we were (I did a good job of hiding my sheer terror). Good job Jeff! You can ride with us anytime! This year consisted of lots and lots of mud and water and muddy water. Good times with good friends! Got a little lost a couple of times, had to do some bailouts but the most adventerous dash I have been on. Great food. Thanks to everyone who worked so hard to put this event together. Special thanks to KTMRad. Now only 364 days to go before Desert Dash 9! Thanks Megan for helping out this weekend. Ben
I took a few pics on sunday. Not great but it's hard to take pics from a cellphone and rip around at the same time.

Missed you at the dash. Happy Birthday!

I just depends on the ranger. It is a ticketable offense. Better safe than sorry.

Well when I built it I started with a new GEX 2110cc stroker. That lasted 7 yrs of lot's of miles (no odometer for years) until it broke the crank. Now I have a stock 1600cc dual port with the lightened flywheel from the stroker. Runs real good enough just does not have all that great stroker torque. It is pretty much a stock bug with a home cut and turned front beam and slightly lifted in the rear. Goes almost anywhere my toyota 4x4 will go just rev it up and dump the clutch!

I dont know of anybody in N. County. But in El Cajon I am sure that Kirks radiator over by Gillespie field would do a nice job. It really would depend on how bad and the locations of the damage to determine if it is fixable or just needs to be replaced.

I saw that rig in Pine Valley at the hotel this morning. I was wondering what he was up too. Quite the huevos to haul that up there.

Hey Randy, What about the photo gallery? Is it up and running and I just cant open it or is it not setup yet.
Patiently waiting, Ben.

That is pretty cool Kelly. I don't know anyone with a PW but I think he will grow into that one pretty quick. Or better yet get him a PW also and he can start his own vast motorcycle collection like his old man.

I went to elementry school next to Chem tronics in the 80's. It was a big deal for my mom to let us ride our bikes to Bike Shop III on second st. I lived off Greenfield. I worked at a tire shop on saturdays to earn 20.00 just to spend it all at Cajon Speedway sat night. If I had any left over it was spent at the swap meet at the eagle drive in.

Unfortunately I am out for this ride. Too bad because I really want to explore that area. After the Dash I will post a makeup ride.

This ride is open to anyone.

Bumping this ride up front if anybody else is interested. Or if any new plans have emerged. Uncle Champ and I are planning on being there at about 8:30. KKug still leading?

Cool write up. Thanks for posting that Kelly. Its nice to know that some of the pioneers of our sport are still kicking around and riding. I remember my dad had a Preston Petty Products sticker on the cab of his old '49 Ford p/u from when he was a teenager. I always thought that was the coolest. I do love nostalgia.

I plan on heading up after the fishing season opens in April. With or without dualsport. But I think it will be more like August.
-
Sounds good. Count me in.

Nice pictures Rad! I especially like the ones with Cody posing on the rocks.

Welcome, and thanks for the heads up!

I really like the idea of lunch at the airport and filling up with av gas. More octane= more fun.

Ya Robbie is gonna need all the help he can get pushing his giant 2wd hummer out when he's stuck cause he cant keep it on the course. Good call.

I sure hope that Versus carries the Dakar this year. I looked on the Versus site and it is very vague about the Jan 1st show schedule. Last year they were having a pissing match with directv and the channel was not even on. I missed the whole rally. Does anybody happen to know for sure or seen any commercials on versus? Maybe I am just worrying too early.

I would be up for a ride on thurs. Pending massive rain of course. I wouldnt mind heading up pine creek or bear valley. I will watch your post for info.
