    4/2 ride

I have the day off but not to wake up so early to truck it out. Any other plans? Maybe I should open another post.

    Probably a noob question but...

You guys are kidding me. Hey the question is interesting. The washboard and the whoops follow a certain wave length. It will take a lot of vehicles landing exactly at the same spot to create a perfect sinusoidal wave. So, I would rather have another explanation. Sorry for being skeptical.
  6. Today I went to the Laura Recovery Center Foundation (11858 Bernardo Plaza Court behind Citibank, Rancho Bernardo, 92128) and I offered to search on my plated dirt bike (a.k.a dual sport). They turned me and people with horses down. I told them that my dual sport club of 900+ members knows the trails very well and I could probably enlist some to comb whatever areas they needed. They took my phone number but told me to go back home. Then I went to talk with the police at the Lake Hodges and they turned me down too. They had ATVs but nothing for single track trails. I went searching by myself on Highland Valley, Bandy Canyon and 78. Eventually I joined the San Pascual Fire department –that had been turned down too- and jointly went searching the river bed in the 78 where they found a couple of bodies a few years ago. I've talked to the people that manage the farms between 78 and Bandy Canyon and they were willing to let people in on foot among the orange groves and on vehicles in the dirt roads. Some people let me ride in their private property some didn't. I found washing machines, fridges and entire cars dumped in the canyons; among some evidence of people living there and the usual trash. I found several search parties and I was surprised at what areas they were. Some had no connecting trails to the original one and they were not accessible by car. I couldn't figure out what search strategy they are conducting since nobody could direct me to whoever was coordinating it. I spend several hours and a tank of gas and I wish they had better coordination and used ALL available resources.
  7. I went again today to the office and spoke with the people running the volunteer show. One co-worker is in the mapping team and when I shared my story he made me print the areas I thought could be good spots to hide her. He also introduced me to the people there and talked about SDAR. They turned me and the maps I was carrying down again. They didn't even look at the areas I printed. This time the excuse was that the police had told them that we could perturb the evidence. Two people next to me where organizing a search on horses. Like they would not disturb the evidence! Following the news it looks like they already have evidence enough to detain one guy. And I don't see how people on foot are less likely to mess any evidence up. Anyway, in my opinion they don't want our help or they cannot coordinate more. The office was really small and it looked pretty chaotic there. At the end I dropped a few ink cartridges so they could print maps that made little sense to me. It doesn't look to me like a crisis or emergency when they keep turning help down so I guess I'll pass on this one.
  8. I called to report my findings and they sent me to some kind of supervisor. I let them know on the local resources they could tap on. They called me back saying that they would pass on us because they could not provide transportation for the bikes. I told them we are street legal and we know the back roads and trails better than them and the police. They said they would reconsider ...
  9. Hi all, Christian and I will try to make this ROUTE Does anybody see any closed road? I just plotted it in Google maps. We are starting from Highland Valley at 10:30, probably 11 @ Ramona.
  10. Yes, there is NOT an open connection between 76 and Lusardi TT (your points M & N).......Lusardi is a gated /dead end off Pamo Thanks, I figured somebody will new. Do you know any way to make it from the bottom of Pally south grade to Ramona or the 78? If there is a link somewhere in the site with open trails around the area I'll take it.

    New guy from Ramona

Welcome to the group! I live at the end of Highland Valley. Hit me up for rides around Ramona.
  12. Paul was right. The other end is Mexico. I stand corrected. Did the same google maps exercise and saw it too. Today I was talking to a guy that works for a company that installs surveillance equipment on the border and he told me that they have cameras and other sensors. He also mentioned that some part of the border needs to be open so wild life can cross it. That is what I was told; don't quote me on that.
  13. Some videos as a playlist.
  14. If it was Sunday I'll definitively go. I like that area.
  15. Hi all, I missed today's ride. But I can take tomorrow off, Saturday and I have MLK off too. I saw some going to the desert but is too far away. Anybody up to explore more local trails? Based in Highland Valley with Pomerado Rd. Xavier

    Five birthdays?

Taking into account that we have 937 and the year has 365 days it is not that much of a coincidence. Somebody with good knowledge of mathematics could prove it for us. If birthdays were uniformly distributed one would expect to have ~2.56 members celebrating their bday each day.

    Brand Spankin' Noob

Welcome. I live at the end of Highland Valley (nursery side). DRZ-400-S too. I am always up for half day rides without trucking out so if you and husband want to ride local let me know.
  18. Ill be in LA and riding Mullholland which is a "racer road" but I try to be always careful of people coming into my lane regardless Two words... X man... Mulhulland Is FAMOUS racer road. and you can't avoid others, sometimes, mid corner... alter your line (you had "reserve" right?), hope you're wearing clean underwear (for a while anyway) and hope the other person can correct... sometimes, it really IS out of your hands Uh? Why I am in this thread? I always ride <70% of what I think I can manage; if that is what you call 'reserve'. Always keep twice of my braking distance with the next rider; yada yada... If I lead am the first one to find any $h!t coming so even more careful. As for "racer-roads" I am on the aforementioned roads pretty often. I think in any riding there is people that are nuts or just ignorant and those that parked the ego home and ride at their own pace. I've been passed on the inside of a corner in Palomar just to see the retard try the same maneuver and almost take my buddy down. My buddy was into racing and knew how to block a line. We had a few words at the top. As a sport bike rider I assure you there are plenty of yahoos there that give us bad reputation. Same is probably true for dirt riders that don't respect private property or just damage the environment.
  19. @Jaynen: My beloved 01 Aprilia Falco SL1000 Now I ride a crappy 05 SV1000S. @bikeslut: No that was 'My life started again smile' @dirt dame:There are those who crashed and those who will. It comes with the ride. There just so much I can control or influence. If an cager does something stupid I can't do nothing but try to survive.
  20. I didn't. Wanna see the police report?
  21. We entered from 79. I don't remember an RV park. There was a maybe 200 yards of dirt and then pavement with debris all the way up to an abandoned "house". Regarding the riding, I was taking it very carefully in the blind turns. I was riding twisted just to see what was coming up. I normally look as far ahead as I can for incoming traffic. If I see none then I take a wide line and try to square it out. If I am not sure I rub against the mountain side Believe I know what is upcoming traffic at 70 mph
  22. Awesome trail and good buddy! I did the first half of Pali Div before but on the way down was great too. I hope the video shows the fishtailing action; almost lost it a couple of times. Kris pointed me to Christi's track. I wish somebody runs a 'class' some day so I can learn to ride dirt by the book. Riding street tomorrow
  23. Kris and I are going Pal Divide and then decide what to do next afterwards.
