    GPS Question

You'll be good to go with any of GPS offerings. Be sure to get GPS that you can "download a track" to. For me, I want to be sure the GPS I purchase has a "track back" feature "satellite based" for exploring areas while camping. I have experienced to many times that "I can't see the forest through the trees" and sometimes all the turns will look a like on the return trip to camp. Too many times, the choice was a coin toss. My cell phone has a free GPS app installed, which I like, for general use and has a easy to use "track back" feature. Easy cell phone apps I use: Basic GPS Tracker, US Topo Maps. Tip: Save your Google Maps "exploratory ride areas" to: Google Map "Offline Maps & Navigation" for use "off line" with no internet access needed and reference your maps later on your cell phone. ? Someone please verify this statement (I am only 90% sure of this). A satellite will place a blue dot on this map for your location outside of the cell service area. ? True or False?

    GPS Question

My wife and I used the e-trex when we scootered through Europe a few different times. The e-Trex has good basic functions of following a route. Small design, mounts easily. Economical. We used velcro around the handlebars of the scooters. The unit weights nothing, so it will stay in place well. The more expensive units are easy to use also to do the same basic functions. All units will require reading the instructions to operate and download tracks or a buddy to show you. What other GPS units are economical out there?

  6. What is up? Sure is a lot of tools involved.
  7. looks great and good photos. I sense a retail market for this one. I have found only hydraulic lift versions or custom builds like this one on the internet. Thanks.
  8. Thanks for the referral.
  9. "The off the shelf receiver style bike haulers all have a 3000# limit on towing behind them. In their case they are supporting the bike on the hitch." Wow! Custom built then? Where? Joe Hauler? Any El Cajon builders you recommend? CID, have you figured this out for your similar needs?
  10. pbdblue, Brikman, tntmo, Thanks for your posts and links.
  11. Bags, What setup is this? Yours? What a great response from the group!!! The first hand experience sharing has been terrific and important. The RV centers and myself have been concerned about the extra "leverage" from the extensions affecting tongue weight specifications and RV driving performance (the straight tracking of the RV). Any comments regarding "RV tracking" with a 26' class A and tail whip/sway? Anyone have an extra setup they no longer need? Thanks.

Valle De Guadlupe, OCT 14th Sat

What a great time. A day well spent on an unique baja day wine tour. I did miss out on the early morning classic biker club events. The send off the bike club's brother to South America. P.S. Dan, the Puerto Nuevo beach home is owned by the Claudio. He spoke 5 languages and studied at Cambridge in London "language arts" and owned a fantastic HD. Just sitting on it made you smile. I have not ridden a HD so I don't know what I am missing. What a enormous following HD has. From classic biker clubs to lawyers and CEO's. There must be something to it. Those that are in the know, please share what it is like. What a day. A guided tour in another country, neighborhood wineries, coastal views, local beach house dinner and drinks, and a maze at the border crossing in centro T.J. I know I would have struggled to drive through T.J. centro and the border crossing on my own at night without a guide. I did not even bring a map. In the end, it would have been me joining the "solo angles of T.J." club and turning in my BMW f700gs for a "real motorcycle" with the "proper exhaust notes" of a Harley. I do wish my BMW sounded like a Harley. Our guides HD's sounded like they could set off every car alarm in the Baja California. What a great sound. Then it was onward to a beautiful evening ride home and where I arrived home in Jamul at 9:00 pm.
