Hi all. I'm living in Carlsbad now. Does anyone have a good local mechanic to refer me to? I need to get my chain and sprockets replaced asap. Thanks very much for any helpful information you might have. Sincerely, -pyro

Thanks for offering bro that's really cool. The last time I did this job myself I had a problem with a couple of the studs breaking loose from the hub. Probably because I really suck when it comes to torque wrenches, but that's why I was thinking I'll just go with a real mechanic this time.

Sweet, thanks brother! I just called but they are closed monday's so I'll call them tomorrow.

Hey brother! Glad to hear that you are doing good and healing up fast. Let me know if you need anything bro. My fiance and I just moved in right down the street a couple blocks from you @ the Dolphin Beach.

This is a good thread. Thanks for all the info y'all. I am getting a spot for my bday present this year. Is the spot2 still the way to go? I do have a droid g1, but I don't like the idea of having devices that need to link up and work together. My phone is for calls and text, and turned off usually when I'm riding. That's why a dedicated tracker and emergency device is key I think.

I got a late breaking message from Bluefintuna. Ride to Palm Springs tomorrow! Woooohooooo@@! Well we didn't go to PS thank god. But we had a great ride today with great peeps. Thanks for the invite brother! It was 3 KLR650's and a sick gs800. Good times were had by all. I snapped lots of pics so here we go: There was a few hazardous ruts Found a fun little ohv area around the way. We did a few laps around the mini oval. I chased Jdog for 10 laps or so but couldn't catch him. Oh did I mention the perfect weather? What a blast! Thanks again guys. Sincerely, -pyro

WOW, great job to everyone! I am completely dazed and amazed! This is a story that could have had many undesirable outcomes, but it ended with what appears to be the best possible under the circumstances. I am very impressed with all of you, and the amazing technology that made this speedy rescue possible. Huge props to everyone involved. That's really great stuff. P.S. -> that trail looks totally nar nar! You won't be finding me out there any time soon. -
Well I pyro'd almost everywhere for 5 years. Now it's time to extend my range a bit and open up some new options for the future. I'm going to sell my beloved '96 honda civic, and I am looking for a small pick-up truck so I can stick my bike in the back. I just started looking yesterday on cl. I think what I need is a toyota tacoma with an xtra cab or something similar. Requirements are that my bike fits in the back, goes 75mph, easy on gas, reliable and has enough leg room. I haven't checked the blue book on my honda yet, but ideally my new truck costs the same or less than what I can get from the civic. I've never owned a pick-up, so I'm wondering if ya'll have any tips/recomendations for me. And also if anybody has one or knows someone that wants to get rid of one on the cheap.

LOL didn't think so. I would pop the clutch and do a wheelie and then break everything including the frame, the bike and my arse.

Happy B-Day Tommy! ROck on brother you are the $hit!

hmmmmm, What is the reality of fitting a joe hauler on the back of my honda civic? Do those things carry KLR650's, or just minibikes?

Well according to the dates on my pictures, it's been 9 days since I replaced my chunked out D606 with a new one. I was on my way out for another adventure this morning, but when I pulled over for a short break guess what I saw? Yep, it happened again. Exact same thing, brand spanking new tire. I'm glad to have caught it before I got too far out there this time. This time the manager at Cycle Gear said he would swap it out for store credit towards another tire. Twice was enough . . I am done with my once trusty Dunlop D606's. He has nothing in stock so I can order whatever I want. Debating over Perelli mt21's, Continental twinduro, or Metzler Enduro 3 Sahara. Is there anything better I should be looking at that you would recommend? Thanks ya'll.
-
that is too much of a coincidence... there is something else going on here... are you sure the tire isn't hitting something? Wow. You nailed it Don. Thanks so much amigo! There is plenty of room for the tire when i'm looking at it, but there is an obvious rub mark on the swingarm and the spot below it where the suspension link is. I never would have thought these tires changed shape that much. But with the heavy tire and a tube that weighs in at like 5 lbs, that's a lot of centrifical force. (especially with turbo engaged at full boost). Looks like i gotta get a new chain. Thank's again guys. Wow. Mystery solved.

Cool vid, that brings back memories for me too. I missed the good old days down there. Would have loved to fish for corvina, but by the time I first visited it wasn't looking so good. And every time I go there it is beautiful and tragic at the same time. The sea is mostly dead now i think, but could be saved and revived with some effort. That would require a lot of water management, filtration etc. Invest now while it's still cheap!* *(don't take that as sound financial advice) Photos below from '07-'08.
