Scumbags. I lived in Clairemont and on occasion - if I left he garage open - it was 100% chance I would get robbed. People just out trolling - driving around looking for stuff to steal. As if it is OK for you to work hard to save $14K but they don't have to - they just have to take your stuff in an evening of marauding. Sorry for you. DD

Wow, that is pretty cool! I would actually like not have the motor sound. Also, imagine the covert urban riding you could get away with. DD

I have been ignoring the need for radiator guards...Hmmm. DD

I like RJ and recently (June) bought a 500 from him. Gearing, remap, skid plate, Acerbis 3.2 gal tank, V4 GPR steering stabilizer, HDB hand guards. I just got a headlight from motominded. The guy 3D prints the bracket to fit to the OEM mask and then you can add a D2 Rigid light. I took the bike to baja last weekend and the light is still on there after 200 miles of vibration. So far so good. I have probably got $14K into the bike and around 700 miles. The 2014 models may be $500 cheaper than I paid in June. ------- It is pretty cool to jump on the bike and not have to fiddle with the choke or petcock. DD

Where is your office? I hate the traffic back there.

Great job! That section out of Mikes (to Coyotes) is tough on any bike. You got a good picture of the blow hole too! Steve -

Wow, great report. I read every line and enjoyed it! DD -
Sorry to hear that Ken. There are some pretty knarly spots up a BB. Were you doing something technical or was it just a happenstance? Steve
-
Yes, that looks really really nice. I need to get out there. steve

We actually have one from Costco we use in our master so my wife can have it the temp she's comfy with and I don't have a $400 bill each month from having to cool the entire house. They're pretty effective. You install it in the window?

Anyone here Love Baja, Riding and Surfing?
Dirtdiver replied to a topic in Baja Info, Upcoming Rides, Ride Reports, Photos, etc.
I have surfed many, many times at Punta Cabras and it is "OK". Sometimes big sometimes small - always cold- never great. I have ridden through the last two weekends and it has been small. On the upside the new bartender at Coyote's is cute. haha. The other nice thing about Cabras is that the beach is family friendly and sandy. I would like to find some other spots in Northern Baja. Dan, let me look at Crust's link and get back to you. I think it would be fun to see a group of us with boards riding together. :-) steve -

Hmmm. That sounds interesting since I also like to surf and ride. The other benefit is getting back through the border without wait since you/we are on bikes. I would have to figure out how to carry my 8' board on my 990. steve -
Big Bear Annual Run... Ate it harrrd!
Dirtdiver replied to Boston Mangler's topic in 1 to 3 Day Ride Write-Ups, Stories and Photos
My personal feeling with that big bear trail ride is that it is EXPENSIVE. A number of really hard sections and people wrecked everywhere becoming a hazard on themselves. My heartbeat still increases as I think of the different sections. All of those big rocks just waiting to impact into something brittle or soft. haha. My friend and I took a couple weekends and rode through the course by ourselves. We took different chunks for different days. It was fun to do and we had nothing getting in our way. Still hard and hot. My hat is off to the guys that can show up the day of the ride - and get the plaque. Better riders than myself, I think. steve -

Cyclops LED headlight - $60
Dirtdiver replied to TrophyHunter's topic in Equipment & Technical Forum
my friend has the bulb on his 530. It looked pretty bright. I just ordered one for my 500exc. I like that I can use the stock mask but get more light than stock without too much more money. DD -

Crusty, thanks for posting. True porn for the gear head! Also I have got to say i enjoyed your trip report on your new 250L. Amazing to do that rough stuff with your wife on the back. steve -
OK, I'll bite. They say to use what ever brand the manual suggests. Honda use honda; yamaha use yamaha etc... You are lucky in that you want to use the "best" and you don't care about price. Most people are looking for "best" at an acceptable price which makes it a lot more subjective! That motorex for my ktm kills me to use 2 liters every two days of riding at $17/liter. Anyway, I suggest the best thing is follow the manual. I personally try to follow the heat graph in selecting the oil weights. DD

Nice! He must be pretty confident that he wont fly it into the drink.

Talkin Tubes: Sealant suggestions?
Dirtdiver replied to Dan Diego's topic in Equipment & Technical Forum
I have used Slime a lot. Not all that happy with it. it works well for the pin holes. The tube pinches and bigger - not so much. I saw a post where these guys were riding baja (cross country due to one thing air another) and hitting a lot of cactus. The tires with slime had no flats. The tires without slime 30-40 flats. I forget the whole story but it made am impression on me. I would try a different product first. DD -
