  1. My experiences in Mexico have been 100% positive. The only trouble I get is at the border with the US guards. This would be a fast, easy ride on graded dirt roads. At least that would be our going in position. steve
  2. Hi All, I have a 990A and I want to do an interesting desert ride tomorrow. I was thinking through Anza Borego park. Does anyone have suggestions for an offroad visually interesting or pretty route that would be appropraite for a big pig of a bike? I downloaded the offical trail/park map already. steve
  3. I want to try this one! Thanks for the pics too. steve
  4. You might also consider Bagstr's "Ramona Loop" on a future 2 up ride......easy/scenic/hardpacked terrain: http://www.dualsport-sd.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=3213 (though I'd skip upper Santa Isabel if riding 2 up......when you leave Ramona turn right off Pamo onto Pile....that'll run you over Magnolia Rd./Black Canyon Rd..........take a left on Black Canyon and that'll run you out to the Black Canyon Bridge, etc....) Thanks for this suggestion. Yes, that ride is perfect but I have done it about 4 times in the last 2 months! That is exactly the ride "type" I was looking for. The other ride we enjoy is the boulder canyon from hwy 8 to Julian. Thanks for all of the replies. steve
  5. Thanks, If you ever feel like riding let me know. I am up for a day or 1/2 day each weekend. steve \\
  6. Yep, well I looked at the online pics of Blair valley and was not too enthused. I remembered driving by this as i went through Rodriguez canyon and Oriflame. We ended up riding slab to 79 and then up to Idyllwild. We explored a few dirt roads but mostly it was rural twisties. It was fun and we had a nice mexican lunch at Arribas in Idyllwild. Not much of an adventure but perfect for the pillion spot! Thanks for your ideas I want to see more of anza borrega than I have. It seems like most of you SD ADV riders ride smaller bikes than mine. Yes?
  7. All, I went with an ADV group down to Tecate and south by dirt. As far south as we got was just north of Camalu. Anyway it was fun and the link has lots of pics. This is my second trip south in the last month and it is remarkable the lack of gringos. Hardly any in Ensenada or Rosarito. Everyone was friendly to us though! http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread....76&page=286 The report for my trip starts on post #4277 It was a good group of guys and pretty savy to this type of thing. steve
  8. I'll check this out, thanks. steve
  9. Yes I have TKC on front and scorpions on the back. That being said I do not like sand.

That IS steep looking. Have fun!
  11. OK. Good to know that Hammer is probably gone. I saw a thread from him a few months ago it was a bit ....uhmmm...agressive. steve
  12. I would be interested in a bike/surf trip. Todos Santos sounds a bit extreme to me. I like Punta Cabras. Nice sandy beach, friendly campers, great rip currrent to pull you out, not too crowded. I surf 7.5-9.5 ft boards. I would need to come up with a way to carry my board on my ktm990. Or we could trailer some dirt bikes down behind my truck. steve
  13. Ladies and gents, I am new to this forum but I am an active SD rider. I wanted to say hello and share a ride report that I posted over in ADV. http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=417265 I look forward to seeing some of you riding. steve
  14. I actually do not speak much spanish either. With this bike down I said, "Muy Grande!" They got the message! Hey, if any of you are interested in an adventure bike ride, this is a group of guys that I am hooked up with to ride a 3 day Baja trip in January 8-10. I have not ridden with them before but I have read some of their reports and they seem like good guys. http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread....472&page=26 Thanks for the welcome. steve
