    Suzuki DR 650 any one?

Goofy is a member...here...I believe it's the neutral sending unit screw that fails. I had an xt600 also, and it felt bigger (to me). But as I alluded to...you can probably adjust. Have fun

Rick- you are, but what am I?

    I'm the new guy!

Welcome to the group! Noob rides are, by definition, a ride for new riders. Most, if not all, have bypasses for obstacles, mostly graded roads, crusty old farts willing to help/ride/mock/pick you up. On "my" n00b rides, I like to throw some slightly harder options in to keep things interesting...also, on "my" n00b rides, we usually have skilled lead/sweep/midpack riders, usually with communications, so we can assess those that can't sellf-assess themselves. In all the n00b rides I've been on, we have had exactly ONE disgruntled person...and he wasn't even one of the guys that went to the hospital or took a helicopter ride. Not sure if the guy on the BMW was disgruntled...hmmmmmmm...anyway; join a ride; you'll have fun

    Suzuki DR 650 any one?

Jaja- I "think" the DR650 will feel very small for you. Tight cockpit and low bars. Low seat height as well. That being said, they have a nice motor, good gearbox and ratios, and as soon as you adjust to the feel, you'll really like it.... I will leave the details to the dr650 gurus on this site
  7. Another good group ride. Some vets along to help the n00bs, and some found the limits of skill and bikes. We mostly emerged unscathed...one bike may have been scathed...I don't have pics or video, but I saw a few devices...post 'em if you got 'em

Single Track Etiquette and unspoken rules.

You mean for hiking, right? pine valley cul de sac is 17 miles... I can be on dirt in less than a half an hour... unless you're bustin my balls because I haven't been riding much lately... in which case hardy har har

Bags has a point, but time restrictions don't always allow me to drive that far. Corral is 15 minutes from my house

Single Track Etiquette and unspoken rules.

The last head-on I had (@ corral naturally); got there at sun-up. No cars at the trailhead, none at the crossroads, none at 4 corners. Didn't hear a single bike all day. Getting more relaxed and had one small section left before I was gone...and I smashed head-on into a guy I actually know. Blind corner, faster than I should've been going, and a deep V trail...when we both slammed on the brakes, we both funneled right into each other. Keep speeds down (what's the fun in that?), even slower around blind corners (most of them @ Corral), stop, and listen a lot. Black diamond trails have a LOT less traffic. I've seen traffic on ranger once, 5 never, 3 once (jeeps), but Kernan almost every single time! Trail one before the granite usually also, and spur is another dicey one for traffic. Ride safe/have fun

    the slut went awol

it was brought to my attention that my role as postwhore has been "lacking" as of late that my reklusive nature has taken hold, causing certain concerned individuals to wonder if I was still around, or even alive I don't think he really cared of my well-being, I figured he wanted to root through my garage and grab some antique tools or unused moto-gear and yes... I do have some unused moto-gear sitting in my garage... a very nice klim jersey purchased for me in November, and a set of Fox Pawtectors purchased a few weeks ago. which illustrates my situation... unused... since November because of a number of conspiracies hurled in my general direction, I have not been able to ride for months. injured family members, house fires, moving septuagenarians (sic?) around southern California, house painting, engines blowing up, new car purchases (yes... plural... two new cars), work pressures, and lastly, but not leastly... bike problems So the DRZ is giving me fits, and I can't sort it out, nor have I had much time to try... I have the KLR, but... it's a KLR... with small street tires, and long-range gearing. Not exactly the ticket for my preferred riding style anyway... so I am fine; alive and well when I start riding more, I will start posting more I still lurk on occasion, and ride vicariously through y'all...

    KTM vs. DRZ + YZ

Wr250F vs DRZ400S...my "seat of the pants" impression. WR felt like a mountain bike...great suspension, and great power up high. not near enough grunt for tech trails (for me) but it was a blast on the track. DRZ is well-balanced, with decent torque, and cheap suspension. If a wR450 fits you, take it to George for suspension work, and call it a day

    KTM or KLR?

V Strom is not meant for real dirt...or maybe I'm just not very good. I took mine on dirt, and it was really rough, and ended up with dented pipes, etc. Shocked I didn't puncture the oil filter (look at the placement)...not my choice

    KTM or KLR?

It is "to accompany her on the TW"...FFS people, get over the kool-aid. You don't get a saluki to do coursing with a dachsund
  15. Both my kids drive Focus'...so far we like them. Prius...clogging left lanes everywhere you go, but they're "saving the environment" so you're supposed to be nice

He went somewhere? That explains my bike not running

Ok...shrug...free white is better than crappy boots in an appropriate color. If they fit, take them, and don't ever wash them; the "white" will fade to a proper moto-color.

One punch knock-out. Was legit, but they still need to "fight". Looking forward to a rematch. Haven't watched the Rockhold fight yet

    Rear Brake Calipers Sticking

a recurring issue I have with ONE of my rear brakes... every time I touch the brake caliper area, the pads get off center and drag... So I have to pull them, and reinstall. also... master cylinder vs slave cylinder... I think I'm a little confused. The master is the plastic (usually) reservoir up near the right ankle... the slave is where you pump it to expose the area for cleaning

Helmets age... really consider a newer one; they are much better than they used to be if you're talking fashion: retro is always cool... don't sweat that part of the equation. I actually wear gloves from Home Depot and Harbor Freight... good protection (except knuckles), cheap, and throw them away when they start to wear out. Boots... first and foremost; do they fit and offer protection... and hopefully they're not white... seriously; who even DOES that? $100 boots feel more comfortable out of the box, but they wear faster and don't offer the protection you really want.

THAT last fight of hers was classic... everybody saying the same thing: If Holly can keep the fight standing up, she'll win. If she gets dragged into a ground game, she's going to lose

    McGregor/Aldo

Aldo... I think his leg kicks will be an issue for McGregor to handle. He can take a punch, and I think he's quicker (legs and hands) than Mc Gregor. Mc Gregors last fight actually impressed me, though... He can take a punch too. I wish I didn't have a gig that night; I totally wanted to catch it live NOW... Rockhold/Weidman? I'm leaning toward Weidman for this one, but who knows? I was SO happy when he knocked out that smug SOB Silva, then just as happy when Silva got his kick checked, and saw his leg go carbon-fiber (catastrophic failure) Silva seems to have dialed back his cockiness a bit, but I always felt he didn't respect his competitors. Like he was bigger than the sport. That confidence may be "who he is", but I find it disrespectful. Conor is in the same category to me... cocky to the point of arrogance. I don't care for it. Grow up, respect your foe and the game, and give every performance your best.
