  1. I'm heading out to Glamis for the last trip of the season. I'll be out there later today through Sunday. I'll have my three kids with me, so it will be a family oriented trip. If anyone else is going to be out there, or wants to come out and rail some dunes, let me know. My cell is in the members only section. Cell reception is bad out there in the Washes, but I'll try to post up my landing location. Most likely somewhere between wash 18 and 24.
  2. About to take on day 4...so far so completely awesome
  3. Amazing day out here. Weather is amazing. Dunes are epic but treacherous...not noob friendly. 3rd day and i have yet to even see another rider in the dunes.
  4. I made a donation a couple months ago but never got any kind of confirmation so i havr no idea if you have my info or not?
  5. Wash 23. Weather is epic. Dunes were treacherous yesterday...very soft and steep, but we broke fresh tracks all afternoon.

    Thinking

He wants to ride the south end of Azna Borrego on Thursday. He say's he'll buy lunch for anyone that wants to attend and pay for your gas. If that's not enough, he'll prep your bike for you and change any flats that might happen. Just be there by 8 am.

    The numbers are in.

    I don't know, but it's going to be a sic adventure....Good luck
  9. I just got back from a cruise around my local stuff, which includes SYTT. This is a route that many people on and off this board enjoy. I'm thoroughly disgusted to report that they have graded the entire length of SYTT. not only have they graded it, but they widened it as well. I know this is a truck trail, but it use to have the feeling of a fun, two track, challenging, trail. You could ride a Harley on it now...WTF
  10. Very cool. What trails did you take him on? I've been thinking about getting my groms out there. They (3) all ride, but I've never taken them on the local stuff.

    Mike's Racing Tire Changing Stand

Was the bead breaker part of the stand?? Link?
  12. So what are the cons, assuming you don't like them? I found the tires to be somewhat unpredictable and bouncy. They didn't seem to stick to slab rock as well as I wanted them to, prone to climbing the sides of ruts, uneven cornering performance especially from the front tire. Maybe they would work better on a heavier bike, with a heavier rider. I tried airing them down, to see if that made a difference, but it didn't. The tires made my normally smooth handling WR300 into a tiring and uncertain machine to work with out on the trail. The tread pattern is directional on both the front and back tire. It always seems that non-directional tires work better for me. The stock tires on the bike were Michelin Enduro Comp FIM DOT, a tire that most people swap out as soon as they can, but I ran mine till they were quite worn and chunked, because they worked well over a broad spectrum of surfaces. In fact, I ordered a set of Michelin Starfire MH3s that are closest in design to the OEM tires to swap out with the Motoz. They should arrive on Monday. I'm not sure why people didn't like the stockers. At the same time, I'm baffled by all the gushingly enthusiastic testimonials made by forum members over at Cafe Husky for the Motoz tires. Very interesting. Sorry you had to find out the hard way. I too have heard many good things about them. But based on your review will steer clear. There are too many well known tires out there to choose from. On the plus side, you should be able to sell them fairly quick and recoupe some of your money.

    Is it a good deal?

Yes, that is a good deal. If the rear hub is a cush hub, it's even a better deal. Retail of that set up is probably over $1000. You can add an oversized front rotor kit for about $200 and have a nice SM set up.

Now that the accident is behind me....

Yup, that's it, thanks for posting that Arnie.
  15. Bags, it's going to be a great day out there. You'll be breaking fresh tracks all day. Wish I could make it.

Now that the accident is behind me....

PbdB, we have a member here, sorry can't remember the screen name, who was heavily involved in researching the effectiveness of the Leatt (and other brands) neck braces. I talked to him on a ride once about this very subject and he said there is evidence (through testing) that the neck braces offered little protection from compression type incidents. Leatt and other companies are facing numerous law suits from individuals that suffered neck injuries while wearing these types of braces. As far as the helmet, that Bell did it's job no doubt. Based on that damage, consider yourself lucky to not have any type of head injury...wow! There are riders that refuse to wear Snell approved helmets because they believe the helmets, being stronger than DOT helmets, transfer more energy to your melon. The arguments are persuasive IMO. As far as body armor...hum, sometimes I ride with full body armor and sometimes I ride with a exterior chest protector. It depends on the riding I'm doing. As far as protection, having either is better than nothing of course, but the difference between the two is negligible I'm guessing.
  17. Did you ride out from Ramona or trailer out to Pinon?
  18. Just throwing this out there for anyone that might want to come out and ride. We are leaving for OW right now. We'll be there through tomorrow. Tent camping somewhere near the ranger station / Blow Sand area. We'll be in a black Toyota Tundra with a CRF 450 and KTM 530 exc. I'm sure it won't be very busy so we shouldn't be too hard to find. I'll try to post up our final spot once we get there. My brother's bike is not plated so we will be sticking to the SVRA and BLM stuff. The ride pace will be medium to fast pace, minimal stops, extended distances, and as much technical stuff as we can find...so in other words it won't be noob friendly... Sand, rocks, hill climbs, 5th gear sections....oh yeah!...BRAAAAAAAAAP
  19. Good trip overall. We did a pretty fast paced 80 miles on Thursday, with a search and destroy mission for ever technical section we could find. The wind was horrendous. I estimate gusts of 30 to 40 miles per hour. We encountered some pretty bad sand storms between the blu In and Superstition but we dealt with them. On Thursday, I think we saw two other motorcycles the entire day. The weekend should be great for you guys as the wind is supposed to calm down. Have fun!

    RV Repairs and Parts

Good to know. I have some deferred maintenance issues on my coach that I've been wanting to get fixed. I just need to see how bad the Obamanation is going to hit my savings accounts when my tax bill comes due in a couple weeks.
  23. I'm totally bummed, but I'm out because I couldn't get Sunday off. I plan on making one of these in the near future.
