Electric: Maybe they've finally figured it out
simicrintz replied to Ptkatoomer's topic in Open Discussion
I have an old ('86) Club Car golf cart that I dropped two Chevy Volt lithium batteries in; does 30 mph and runs for days. Picked up a couple of eBikes a couple of weeks ago and tweaked the settings to get them up to almost 30 mph as well. I'm not a tree hugger and will never (never?) leave the gasser world, but this electric stuff is pretty fun! And you get used to the quiet -
Great looking bike, Kelly!!

Love that bike!!! -
I know that I am beating a dead horse, but I'll put in my .02 anyway. I never understood why somebody posted up a ride and then instead of keeping it all together had to post a completely separate ride report. You had to go look at the original thread that started the ride to see what was happening and discussed, and then go look at the separate ride report-talk about disjointed and incoherent. I'm not saying that is what diminished the page but it did affect my way of looking at it. Again, just my .02 (to hopefully make the page better). Congrats on getting the funds to keep the page alive!!

Ocotillo Wells - November 2021
simicrintz replied to numpty's topic in 1 to 3 Day Ride Write-Ups, Stories and Photos
Got my sone a XR100 when he was 8 and he progressed from there. He is here in Utah with me currently and we will be heading out to Sand Hollow shortly to rip around for a bit. He'll grab the orange bike and I the red. He's 29 now and we continue to make 2 wheel memories -

Great news, Mimi! And great pic, CID! I agree that interesting content is needed as well (and if I could make a suggestion: it does not matter where it is posted. I always felt that starting a new ride report was silly and detracted from exactly this. Just my .02). Still here and watching; Happy Thanksgiving to you all (sorry to hijack but do not want to start and new Happy Thanksgiving thread!)! -

I agree with the above. I never did get to ride with anyone on here (my fault), but I did get to meet quite a few of the folks here (you know who you are!) and many I have spoken to on the phone. I attended a couple of meetings at Mike's BBQ and went to one tech day at DSM8's place (and just bought a Garmin off of him for my FIL). I checked in then to see what you were all up to, and I still do, always with the hope of riding with so many of you one day (before I bailed out!). Again, the blame was mine for never riding with any of you, and for that I do have some regrets. That said, the attitude that Paul speaks about kept me away to some extent as well (one individual in particular, who almost made me leave the page; they still post occasionally and I just choose not to read the posts) and stopped me from contributing on a regular basis. I cannot commit to contributing currently because of this, but I promise to keep an eye on things and do so if it does appear that things are heading in the right direction. There may be many that feel the same way and have never spoken up. Thank you for posting that, Paul. I have hesitated to say anything, thinking that I was just being a big baby, but now that it has been said I felt it was appropriate to also post. And even being 400 miles away with no chance of riding the old area, I intend to continue to check in and follow all of your exploits. I wish the page all the best; I have spent many hours here and watched a plethora of videos and made a lot of "friendships" with people that I have never met but feel I (somewhat) know! I sincerely look forward to the day that I can contribute and keep the page alive!

FWIW, I check in each morning and evening. Doesn't do me much good from Utah, but I still enjoy seeing what everyone is up to. Will not go looking for the FB page..... I moderate a Jeep page and saw the migration to FB there s well; it is kinda sad to me. I prefer the simplicity and info on a forum and FB is just a jumbled mess to me (I rarely go on it and do not care for it). I stop by the Jeep page every morning and evening as well, but traffic is slow; really hoping this does not happen here. -

I don't see him as complaining, more like stating a fact. I have a great online relationship with a lot of guys on this page, but I never went on a ride while there because I felt the same way. I have my own group that I rode with so it really did not matter, but it would have been nice to have another group that I could hook up with. I love the page (one reason I check in multiple times a day still, even from Utah!). I don't hold the clique aspect in contempt, but his reply is pretty dang accurate! -

You need to get to know thumper and then post -
Well done, Kelly! Teaching my son to ride (at 8 yo) and being able to ride with him still today (he and I bombed around Sand Hollow a few weeks ago) is something that I cherish as well. Congrats to you and your son!!!

I made a couple of these and it is well worth the time. Too far to ride from Hurricane, Utah I am afraid though so I will not be making it

Good on you, Mimi! I'll stay reading from Utah and wish you all the best! I've been fortunate to meet and chat with Mike on a handful of occasions and have always enjoyed those conversations; thank you also, Mike, for all you did, and best wishes as you focus on other things!

California NF Closure Today

It is a bit of a travel and is probably still a little hot, but Ocotillo is always a great spot to teach kids (or anyone). It is wide open, has a diverse landscape (dirt, rocks, sand, etc.) and is patrolled. I have taught lots of kids and even my wife out there.
