I got it; thank you guys for the tips! I cut the tire cut off of the wheel and poured gas on the rim and used a Dremel and a putty knife and she came apart; I am off to the powder coater to drop them off now. Thank you all again; mucho appreciated!!

This year was always my favorite, so when I had a chance to grab this one many years ago I did. Guy said it wouldn't run and half a dozen people looked at it; I brought it home, gave the carb a good clean and she fired right up! Lot's of crap in the tank (I saw that early on and had fuel coming from my gas can) so I didn't do much with it. Dropped the tank off at a buddies shop a couple of weeks ago to have it boiled out and then decided to start working on it. I always loved this version, and the engine was one of the main reasons. Bought a new 185S and a new 250R back in '82 and hated the 250 from day one, eventually trading it for a built 185S that was a blast. This one will most likely be my goof around toy and yard mule when we move to Utah

Thank you guys! It is pliable and looks like RTV, and not hard like JB Weld, so I think I have a fighting chance. One wheel had nothing but the stock O ring and obviously came apart easily, but one has this crap on it and it is stuck tight. I tried running a wood chisel through but am afraid that I may have warped the inner piece a little bit; I am hoping that once I get it apart I can bang it back flush again. I think I will start with gas and see if it works first; sounds easiest! My son saw mine the other day (I have had it for probably a dozen years and have a wild hair to fix it up now all of a sudden) and picked up a clean running '83 for $500 Parts are a bugger to find (very little support, and guys that have parts want more for them than for a complete bike!) and they have not come up in price yet. I think they will one day, but I doubt they will be worth a whole lot. I had a bunch of these when I was young (90, 110, handful of 185S and a 250R) and I liked my '82 185S the best. This is more about nostalgia-and miles and miles of wheelies-than value I will keep you guys posted when I get this thing apart. Thank you again for the suggestions, and if you have any more I am all ears!

I think they look great, Mike. Where are you ordering the EZ-UP from (direct?)? I've ordered a few so if I can help with input I am happy to do so.

In Utah now checking up on what will one day be my new riding areas; where did he buy? -
The only lime I may (or may not) be an expert about is the lime in my Negro Modelo

Front or rear seat, Charlie? And what year Jeep? I may have one (rear-it's Mom's actually) that she'll want a bit more for but less than what you are looking at above. You got my number; text me if it is easier!

Gotta be a great feeling (even with the "challenges") to be back in your own home! Settle in and enjoy your "new" surroundings, and heal quickly!

Good for you, Charlie; congrats!!!

Pot stirrer!!!! I do like the bike as well. Truth is that I still feel more comfortable on my red bike and have a lot of growing into the orange bike to do. I'll always have a soft spot for red!

You needed help getting the bike out or you got hurt? Hope you are okay. -
I dunno. I really did not feel like my 500 was "ready to ride" as it came, and trust me, I do not do it justice. I think most of us have to mess with stuff to get it where we want and out of the box doesn't work.

Thank you for the link, Bags! I have had more than a few things go wonky since upgrading and have not found anything solid to help me through. Thank you!!!

Yessir. Since I usually PM him I will check if my other contact info is still good and then send to you.

Heard back from Clovis; he says $75 for the pair. I'm still fighting the crud and have not gone up to Mom's to see if she has one or not.
-
Very cool of you, Ken! I will check with him and see where he's at with this and PM you if he needs it. Thank you again; very cool!

My nephew just picked up an '07 CRF450 and the pipe gets red hot as it exits the engine very quickly. We are going over some stuff and pulled the muffler cap and do not see any exhaust packing, just the spark arrestor cone. Not sure that has anything to do with the heat issue and can't find anything online so thought I would ask if anyone here has any input. Thanks!

Found 2 in Clovis (Fresno area); waiting to hear what he wants and then I will pass on. I have asked for pics as well. Good guy and I have bought from him before so I can vouch for him. Hope to go up to Mom's today or tomorrow (I'm about 85% today so may take it easy one more day and kick this fully). I'll let you know how I do up there once I go.

There might even be one up at my Mom's. I've been sick in bed for the last three days but I will try get up and look over the weekend if I feel better. If you can shoot me the size I'll look and I'll also post it on the Jeep page and see what responses I get.

I am on an old Jeep page and can ask around if someone has one, if that is an option for you. I see these pop up on there every now and then so it is a possibility. If you want me to check for you, please send me some specs and I am happy to do it!
