  1. 11th and 12th, sorry, I am going to have to throw away this calendar of mine! alyeska
  2. Randy, will do my taxes later, plan on meeting you sunday around 10 at hwy 78 and grapevine. You could ride over yaqui pass and park at the american legion parking lot, plenty of room and you wont have any hassle that way, and you can hit dirt from there all the way to OW. alyeska
  3. Looking forward to doing the ride on the 26-27 with everyone but cant wait! decided to head out thur 3-10 plan on camping near palo verde then heading back on friday. If you would like to join just meet at the circle in borrego springs at 9am on thursday march 10. Bradshaw trail

The two of us are leaving my house at 9am in the morning, I will check the site at 8am for the last time before leaving. alyeska
  5. I would like to kill all the speculation on this subject because I have heard it before, park rangers who I have worked closely with in my previous occupation and spoke with in person today, strongly recommend you not travel in the opposite direction on pinyon mtn trail due to safety reasons. You are not in violation of any law if you decide to do so, but be warned, as more and more people travel the opposite way up this hill, jeeps and bikes alike, they erode the surface by not being able to reach the top and digging out holes. If this continues we may someday soon find this area CLOSED because it is no longer safe to navigate. Hopefully as a group we no longer even suggest such a ride, maybe this ride will be cancelled, but that is not for me to say, this is my opinion only. alyeska

A letter sent home from a Marine to parents

No matter what branch or what they do, you have to respect our young people who enlist now during these unstable times, my 20 yr old daughter just quit college to enlist and will be leaving in 60 days for training, nothing could make me prouder because she is giving up alot to serve her country. I am bias because I come from a tradition of military and law enforcement. alyeska

    Bradshaw trail

The only thing I remember from nearly 20 yrs ago was an old mine and the bridge, so I am looking forward to doing some exploring, got nothing to do all week so why not ride! wind out here today on my weather station was gusting to 43 mph and I am missing some roofing, so I guess I have a little work tomorrow! alyeska

    My adventure changing tires

The trick is baby powder, it goes way back. I helped change a tube in tombstone this year and he was amazed how easy it aired up and never got near the rim when installing it. Just air the tube until it takes shape, then coat with baby powder, deflate tube then install. The baby powder reduces the friction between the tube, tire, and rim. This has been used since the beginning of time and I have changed over 200 tires in the last 30+ yrs using this process. alyeska
  11. I will be leaving borrego each day (sat-sun) to observe and photograph the spectacle that is the tds desert safari in truckhaven hills. If you would like to join me each day just post up, if I get enough interest I will set a firm time to meet at the circle in borrego sat and sun. This is not really a ride, its more observation than riding, although we will be hitting all the action hot spots. thanks. alyeska
  12. This ride cancelled,(lack of interest) will only be riding sunday at truckhaven and camping sat night (2 miles east of micro tower) with my jeep club. alyeska
  13. Sorry, was staring at the calendar and typing at the same time, too much for me! alyeska
  14. Alzheimers I guess! sorry its 5th and 6th this weekend. alyeska
  15. Wish I could make it, but I have to come into san diego tomorrow to have lunch with my daughter. I missed you last time (ran late), we must have passed somewhere, I ended up riding towards superstition and spent the day in the area. alyeska
  16. I will be probably be one of the people coming the furthest, or at least the twistiest road (borrego springs), I know we have some members way north also, maybe confirm who will come and go with the majority. I will drive further if it will be closer for most others. alyeska
  17. Relaxed pace is good, its been at least 20 yrs since I have been in this area, if anyone needs to borrow any gear just let me know, I have several lightweight tents, half shelters, dry sacks, sleeping bags, etc. I aquired alot of gear on my alaska and previous trips. I am bringing a mini lantern and burner since I will be out a couple extra nights. looking forward to this trip. alyeska
  18. I am in for this ride, are we going to visit the red cloud mine off gasline rd? If you dont mind I probably won't ride back with the group since I want to spend a couple days exploring along the river. alyeska
  19. Great ride, good company, and a nice lunch. Thanks. Alyeska
  20. Dress warm if your coming out here! alyeska
  21. Plan on meeting at the circle 9am (too cold to start earlier) then heading to the calcite mine area, riding to palm wash, then into the truckhaven hills, head north through the hills exiting onto hwy 86 north, ride some pavement then at the top of salton sea ride down the other side to bombay beach, have lunch and beverage at the american legion post in bombay beach ( this is an open post so I wont have to sign you in) foods pretty good and reasonable. After lunch we can explore towards the chocalate mtns, and then head back before dark. This will be a noob friendly ride, some steep hill climbs and a couple of sandy washes are the worst of it. Bring tubes and tools. Parking or camping available at my place in borrego, this ride will be happening unless weather prohibits it, we may have 4x4 support vehicles bringing up the rear. alyeska
  22. Ride is still on, weather is cold and windy, may change route depending on how windy it gets tomorrow. alyeska
  23. Will meet at the designated spot at 0900, if I am late just head out and I will find you,I am leaving borrego at 7am but sometimes it takes a little longer to get through fish creek after a big rain. alyeska
  24. I am going to be coming up fish creek then up diablo towards you, let me know if you are coming that way (where so. carrizo intersects carrizo creek) if you are I will just wait for you at the junction of s. carrizo and carrizo creek, if not I will just meet you at the designated spot at the designated time. If we dont have to climb heart attack hill (pinyon mtn trail) it wouldnt hurt my feelings, but I am along for the ride! alyeska.
  25. In, most of the water is gone, sunny and warm today. alyeska
