    Phantom Trail II

Been there done that. Looks like the spot where we stopped all but 1 bike. It went 1/4 mile further down.
  2. The Kit came with main jets only. 1 for air box mods and 1 for air/exhaust mods. The bike runs great, no other adjustments needed. Hopefully you can make the Saturday ride!
  3. Some people seem to be having problems with Daves mods. I went with Dynojet. 160 main with adjustable needle (3rd groove)and heaver spring and drilled slide, De-snorkel & K&N. It is like a different bike, and the parts are guaranteed and free Dyno test. It does cost more. Nothing against Daves mods, I like a company backing the mods on my ride.So are you going to join us this Saturday????

    Barbecue III?

I have tried to start something in the past. Our first regular BBQ. BBQ I Rideorange followed with the help from his lovely wife and family ; BBQ II I just checked, we have 138 registered members. Wowee (Dennis) offered to put on the next one and messed up his leg. On a ride with us I might add! Kawee down Who will step up and have a BBQ for us to top the first two? This is a chance to meet the rest of us. What do ya say? BBQ III will go down in history! Will it be yours?

    what psi should i use?

Yes, 20 psi front and rear for my D-606's. Your bike is heaver and may need more (20-22psi)

    what psi should i use?

Welcome Jay, I am not a KLR rider, but do like and use the Dunlop D-606. I run mine at 20psi. We ride sand, rock, road and all in between. 20psi seems to work for me. Too low can cause tube falure as seen in a past ride. Palomar Ride Lower pressure does work great in the sand, but if you go into rock you could pinch your tube or rip the valve stem off. That is my 2 cents worth, see ya on the next ride!
  9. It was a different ride last Sunday. We met at 79 & S-1. 8 riders . Could not ride from Mason Valley with the gate closed from the Cedar fire damage. ( The area should be rehabilitated by now) Rode to Banner to get to Charrot Canyon to Oriflamme Canyon. It is always a good dirt ride. Went to S-2 and some riders had to break off. It ended up just me & Sandiegoland 10:30 in the morning. We had to explore!! Found lots of gates. Great trails!!!!! Some will need more exploring(future rides!!) We checked our maps. Did some hiking around. (Craig's pics.) And deceided to head for Ocotillo for food. We had a great lunch and headed back up the hill. The temp was suppose to be 94 and was 107. We were prepaired for it. Just another ride. Too bad more riders couldn't continue.
  10. The Adventure is OCTOBERFEST! It is all about the BEER! Well and the... Octoberfest p.s. I plan on a designated driver.
  11. You should always ride with and bring all the gear you think you might need always.Difficulty is measured by each person. Could be difficult for me and easy for you. We are exploring!
  12. Some look like the old Hodaka's. Hodaka page
  13. Ste63, Everyone is welcome to ride with us. I am unsure on the milage as we are exploring. Time wise, we will most likley be all day. You can cut off and ride home at any time during a ride. Riders do all the time. Come out for a few hours or all day. Sometimes I am the one going home early and the rest ride into the night. Sa ya Sunday at 830 S-1 & 79

    Phantom Trail II

Come on GUYS! The ride was an adventure, Will I do it again? The answer isYES! I plan to explore again Sunday, just further north. Same thing, the unknown. That is what makes it appealing to me. If we get stuck, we will draw on our experience from the last adventures. We work as a team and no one is left behind. Bikeslut, Join us!! Let's Ride!!!
  15. I belive we are thinking of the same gate on 79 between Harrison Park & Sunrise. Kev, Bring a extra beer for me. See ya on the trail
  16. I have to apologize for the confusion. I did not know there were 2 Packards in Ramona. So there was Packards 1 & 2. (P-1, P-2)From the Packards 1 stand point. We met at Packards. This Packards by the Circle K. 10 riders showed at this location and we waited for almost an hour for riders before heading out. We took off out from Ramona towards some forest service roads. It was a fun road that headed towards Black Canyon Rd. We neared Black Canyon and gathered our riders to give the plan and continued. we went up to Mesa Grande Rd and went north. A few miles down the road and a rider just stopped. Flat tire, we decieded to ride to the Hideaway at Center Loop and fix it. This is a good time to ask what kind of gear do you carry? Do you have a spare tube and the tools to change it?? What if we were 30 miles deep off road?? Could you make it out??? I offered up my spare tube and some of my gear to change it and we got it changed. You know if the tire pressure is too low you can rip the stem out. We got the tire all fixed up and took off towards Warner Springs to hopfully meet the other group. We topped off and headed down the road to Lost Valley/Indian Flats or something like that. Some good dirt from Warners to Anza. We then asked if anyone wanted to continue North and 5 hands went up. At this point I wanted to ride Palomar and get something to eat. It ended up 2 riders went north the rest went for food. Borritos and Beer. then we headed towards Palomar. We started up the mountain and saw a couple of riders going down and stopped. Craig was talking to them. After a few words we met the Packards 2 group coming down. Our VP, Kevin in this Pic We swapped stories and discussed things for a while. I wanted to ride. So P-1 went up towards Palomar and P-2 went down. We went up to the lookout. Took the Palomar divide down to the highway, had a blast on the way down. Got to the highway and, I am sorry Chief. godda do it. (EOC, SCW, Seabees) This is for the XRL's. You got your fork brace, fork guards, Saharra tank, Stainless header and exhuast, Carb mods, Air box mods & filter, Smog bull gone, Sharfin, HD chain Argh, Argh, Argh, Argh. The Honda Bling! Yes ,I am jealous! BD Skid plate. Priceless!! Cracked side cover from small rock. It could have been worse. A simple tow to a gas station, and a friend on the way with trailer. I rode flat track home via Julian. 11 hours, just shy of 250 miles. Another good ride.
  17. Still riding Sunday. I will wait 15-20min at 79 & S-1 for any takers.
  18. OK, Sunday 830ish Hwy 79 & Sunrise Hwy I checked there is only 1 Sunrise & 79. It will be cooler Sunday and there is a trail that meets Oraflame from 79 I want to check.
  19. This will be an exploration ride and anything goes, Riders MUST be prepared! I should have my replacement tube & stuff by then. The XRL is serviced, Fueled and ready to go! Some of the stuff you are talking about might be on the Desert Dash. I rode some of it last spring.
  20. We can discuss tires in the open forum. How about a little putt in the desert? I wanted to check out a couple of trails, the bottom of Phantom I & II. 32.57.45/116.28.45 Turn south around creek and ridgeline. P-II and The top is 32 deg 46.872 min, 116 deg 15.791 min The bottom is 32 deg 48.555 min, 116 deg 15.315 min P-I Some good info from our eye in the sky. What do ya think?

    Phantom Trail II

It is very interesting how people overanalize information without all the facts. I have said in the past. If you think you could do better, ringup and I will show the way! Lets ride!! P.S. San Diego is not a Country, it is a County!
  22. I have tried this before and timing seems to be an issue. Palomar ride attempt 1 I would like to ride some trails on Palomar. I don't know any, so someone would have to lead us, or we can just wing it if no one that knows can ride. Saturday works better for me, although Sunday could work. We could meet in Ramona at the mini mart just East of Magnolia on the 79 and gasup. Magnolia to Black Canyon up and over to Henshaw, then??? Please excuse the typos.
  23. Well, we will do a writeup, but in the mean time. Did you Know there are 2 Packards in Ramona? Hopefully both groups had a great ride. I apologize for the mixup.
