  1. 7am would be better. 11am waisted half a day
  2. Still in the 40"s at that time. Too much gear and I get too hot too fast. Too little I freeze on the way there. I need a rack to stow stuff. Riding from the house. Definite maybe.
  3. I might ride. What are you riding, TE or DR?
  4. No worries. There will be more rides.
  5. My week is filling up fast. I haven't been out to In Ko Pah in a while. How about a ride down the old Mountain Springs Grade. This was one of the routes from the low desert to the high desert wagons took before the new fangled roads were installed. If we are lucky we may see some wildlife on the route. Meet at the large parking area by the gas stations Jacumba Exit I-8. License plates required. Intermediate skill helps but novice with a desire to learn is good. Some sand rocks etc, maybe some freeway who knows. Small bike is a better choice, big bike experienced is doable but difficult. Sunday meet 7am ride by 730. Food gas across the street. 2-4 hours. Many routes from there. Slow to moderate pace. Maybe some new exploring along the route. Do you want to ride???
  6. What a perfect day for riding. Seems to be a pattern on my rides. No one showed and at 730 it was 100' of pavement then hit the dirt. Time to go The trail starts off mild. I remember the first time I found this route. It made the hair on the back of my neck standup. I had been looking for a couple of years for these routes from the mountains to the desert. This one was the birth of what's now interstate 8. You can see all the parked wind generators down in Ocotillo From here we found if you just coast with the bike off chances are better to see some of the wildlife. There is only one spot that requires a short startup then back off. So it get a little rocky the rest of the way, I took my time enjoying the desert There is the freeway below You do need to watch the edges or the trail, lots of cholla The last section before the I-8 Here is where the name is from. Mountain Spring. It is lower than normal not allot of rain. It is still used by the local wildlife. I will upload my video this week and you will see what I mean. Looking back up At this point I was little too warm with the 40 degree gear I had on and chose the freeway back to Boulevard then the border road home. Another great ride.
  7. Only about 30 or so, short ride.
  8. Dave heated grips in the morning would be nice, I might bring the 950, just got it fixed.
  9. I thought I was going solo. I don't mind the big bike. There are some rock steps but you can make it.

    Club Support

Back in 2005 when the club was getting it, I liked the rider oriented discussions and loved the ride reports. We got into a competition to post the most reports for a while. I just backed off. The one thing I still love about OUR site is Comradery and support for the other members. We are a Family, riders with similar likes. All grounded on motorcycles. I am not the fastest or the best rider, I just like riding. I try not to judge or criticize. I do believe that as a member we should support other members and the club that supports you. In your time of need I will do my best to be there for you, will you do the same for your fellow members??? Just saying.

    Beta Gas tanks

I have a 3.1 gl. CID says he will loan me his for a dry fit. Just kinda busy now.
  14. I contacted Clark and Acerbis asking if they would build a larger gas tank for my Beta. Both said there were no intentions. I want more range. Is there a KTM rider with a tank 5gl or better unmounted that I could borrow to dry fit on the Beta.. It has the RFS engine and could be close. Just takes a few minutes.

    Cancer Update

    Awesome.
  16. So I changed the ride to a snow ride. Again everybody was busy in the desert or with family. I haven't been in the snow on a bike since the early 80's. So the usual route to Laguna. Only took a couple of pictures and some video. I don't know why, but it was slick. There were allot of dabs to keep upright. I went to the top then back down. About a hour and half total. Only issue was I lost my rear brake. The last pic you will see why.

    Chain Swap - O-Ring

My chains X/O ring. Wash allow to dry. Spray with WD40 wipe off excess. Don't seem to get kinky. DID 520-VX2BG gold x ring. 90% sand blast does make rubber stick better to metal.

Snow Ride it is. Same meet location, same time new route to Laguna and back. 2-4 hours. Rain, Mud ,Snow. Yeah Baby!!
  20. Last weekend I went for a ride to test some rain gear, and of course ride. Had a couple of issues. Besides forgetting a neck gator and waterproof gloves. Helmet and boots needed attention. With the changes in place. I am going to ride this Sunday the 27th. Same route, Meet at Dewey Place and Hwy 94 7ish. East to McCain and then back. Route is very adjustable. Skill is based on who shows. License plate required. First and last leg is pavement, could be adjusted to mostly dirt. Desert looks like it is going to be dry and packed so??? Any takers??? I forgot to mention, Rain scheduled for Campo Sunday. (Rain Ride) Update:, possible SNOW ride
