Mud Caves..... . in your last pic , turn right, and take the trail just left of the diablo drop off trail. might be "arroyo tapiado" but dont bet a days ride on it..go till theres a sharp right uphill slope and take the sand wash to the left..and start looking for small openings in the cliffs off to the right. or on the left if you turned around and headed back the way you came in because it is a dead end wash . . . . . Carguy exploring in above pic, he had his gps thingy on , so he might still have it ???

Looks like good timing for me, KLR gone . and wanted to go with something even a little more street worthy than the KLR, but also more dirt worthy. was going with the KTM super enduro, or the 950 adventure but this bike looks sweet, I cant buy s**t till my house sells, but buy then we should know if these things perfom as good as they look.

Most all of the newer bikes have adequate front forks, but if you know the klr history, these bikes havent been changed since they first came out. rembember back in the 70's when you needed a fork brace ??? Front Fork flex, (left to right) is the biggest reason I've experienced why you lose steering control in the sand, I see your riding a KLR.... my klr was the worse bike i ever rode in the sand, until i put a fork brace on..now it handles as good as my last dirt bike which had upside down forks,,(KLX 650) ,YES, That much Difference....and Yes i just happen to have one for sale. .

I still think we should get married and split riding all your bikes 50/50 . And of course share the appropriate colored coordinated riding gear for each bike. . You do wear size 12 boots,,, Right ??? .

Juan Bautista de Anza, IN THE YEAR 1774 in this part of the country there were no trails to speak of. True, there were the Indian paths that led nowhere and were to be avoided. And there was one other that he was sure of. On March 10, 1774 the party reached a watering place at the junction of Carrizo Creek and San Felipe Wash. Sebastian recognized the marshy area as the point where the route turned into the mountains. A thankful Anza named it San Sebastian in El Peregrino's honor. (It is now Harper's Well, located a few miles east of Anza-Borrego State Park.) The party then turned west and followed the rocky bed of San Felipe Creek into the broad Borrego Valley. Ahead lay Coyote Creek and the pathway over the mountains promised by Sebastian. . Only a nightmare now were the many dry camps behind them; the wells that turned to salt after the animals drank a little, and the deadliest of all desert stretches over what is now the Anza-Borrego. . Anza sank to his knees. He clasped his hands until his huge knuckles turned white. He lifted his face to the heavens and tilted his grizzled beard to the pale moon. The Anza trail was broken. Father Garces, the adventurer, was off on the greatest adventure of all. Anza wept. He murmured, "Vaya con Dios, amigo." . They had conquered the desert. .
