Looking for good San Diego Rides

lark cayon / mc cain valley.. my backyard for 15 years now..live about 5 miles from it as the crow flys.. usally will go out for a after dinner putt during the week..main offroad green sticker area is not a good idea on the weekends only about 10 miles by 5 miles square and mostley blind corners with alot of oncoming traffic... there is a good 20 miles of main road in and dead ends.with nice vistas...will probley tour most of it on my BBQ ride. in a couple of weeks.. but if you wana check out the main green sticker area , we can head out any day after work mon thru thur...after 4;00 . it is a single track heaven with mostley all easy trails. allot like kernan cycle trail. except about 20 miles of it if you go on every trail once...

    Lap top purchase advice

hey mescalero,,saw you post , and i'm not a pc techie,, but my daughter is...she thas tought at couple of differant computer schools , and is now a I.T. for a large troubleshoting firm.. i copy and pasted your post to her, and asked her to e mail me something that i could copy and paste back to you.i have no idea what shes talking about, hope you do... This is kina like where do I go to buy a car type questionMost anything you can buy on the market now has adequate power(3ghz processor 512mb of ram) for the average home user so unless your an avid gamer, home movie maker dont sweat that too much. As far as pricing you'll find that your BestBuys, Frys, CompUSA etc are all very competitive(within $50-$100) of each other and their warranties are okay but buying straight from a manufacturer like Dell gives you a 3 yr warranty with on site tech support which means you call them and they come to you to fix (with that said speaking from personal experience I have spent literally hours on the phone with Dell when something goes wrong)Sounds like he liked the HP from Costco which is fine too ,always take up a friend on their recommendation or from their experience dealing with returned product since Costco doesnt have techs they will take it back and most likely replace it with a new oneAll in all a pretty sweet deal the one thing to consider to what to do with all your data when you play musical computers and the second is that Costco is wising up to how many returned computers they are getting so their policy may change sometime in the future but again all in all a pretty sweet dealto sum up think of it like buying any other electronic or car , you can have a good or bad experience any wheremy personal vote would probably be for Costco

  12. It was a smaller turn out than we expected.... a picture is worth a thousand lies..... Except for me and johns early morning ride, on the border road to tecate, you can mix in the rest of the pictures in with robs story, hummm that gives me an idea ? After getting to tecate we saw this huge mountain with repeaters high atop above tecate, so this was a no brainer, So up we went, this is half way up looking back down to tecate. And this is the top looking west at the otay peak.. On the road into robs we went by this mailbox, and thinking that was pretty cool Untill we got to robs house. I guess he gets more mail.??? We were outa there a little after 10:00 and met up with 2 wheels at the intersection of Lyons Valley and Skyline/Honey Springs. From there it was a short trip on the tarmac to the bottom of the Lawson Peak trail. We were waiting for 2 wheels (who it turned-out had suffered some blinker damage at the hands of the tricky Lawson Peak trail) and carguy who was sweeping the dirt with his bike. (maybe you can spot john in this close up ). After we hit pavement at Japatul Rd. we turned left and started looking for Sycuan Truck Trail. We found it and headed up. heres 2wheels missing 2blinkers... We stopped again to check-out more scenery. Here's Jonny, Tree, Ride-Orange's Ride (it's the empty orange one), carguy, woodys3b, Vince, and 2 wheels. I think I cut-off Kaw'ee, but that's becouse he's taking the picture We were looking at the beautiful view of Barrett from this vantage Point. after hes had one to many beers. It was time to hot foot it for the cold beers at the Ranchito. It was a short 45 mile ride but a really pretty day, clear as a bell and not too hot. Heres where i caught rob making out with the chicken.. then we partyed on the patio till we ran out of beer, and that funny taste'n chicken.. A special thank you to Rad for bringing some silver and red reinforcmenets, just in the nick of time. Kurt, wanted to ride back with me and john on the border road to campo, just to get a little more ride time in for the day. but we had to stop in tecate for a quick splash n go. But then it was time to head for home, ... Kurt went west... .....And I went east... ............ANOTHER GOOD RIDE, YOU SHOULD HAVE WENT.............. ............ANOTHER GREAT DAY, THANKS FOR HOSTIN ROB.............
  13. It's looking like twice as many people as last time, thats a good increase. We could be up to half the members showing up by desert season ??? ..Maybe ride-orange should mention the " free pony rides " out at the ranchita... I'm sure everybody is wellcome to just show up for the morning ride ,even if you cant stay for the BBQ...Especially all you solo riders that joined becouse all your other riding buddys aint got there bike yet, lost instrest, sold there bike, got married.!!!.. Come on out and ride, eat, throw a few back, swim, whatever you can squeeze in.. were all just a bunch of mix n match group of riders. no rules, no attidudes,no age limits, no s--t !!!

  15. use permit ? Not as long as you keep those 2Wheels spin'in..... sorry, cant make the ride..HERES THE INFO ON ADVENTURE PASSES.What is the National Forest Adventure Pass? It's a recreation use pass for visitors using the southern California National Forests (Angeles, Cleveland, Los Padres and San Bernardino.) It is required to be displayed on vehicles parked on these Forests while visitors are participating in recreation activities (picnicking, skiing, hiking, snow-play, hunting, fishing etc.)Who needs to purchase an Adventure Pass? All Forest visitors are required to display the Pass in their vehicles when parked for recreation purposes on these four southern California National Forests You won't need a Pass while parked at places where a site-specific fee is already charged (such as ski resorts or fee campgrounds.) You also don't need a Pass when you are traveling through the Forest but not stopping, when you are parked at your residence or at an organization camp in its permitted area, or are in an area covered by a Special Use Permit.A Pass is not required for people stopping for information at Ranger Stations, Visitor Centers and other Forest Service offices, or for Off-Highway Vehicles (green sticker.) Volunteers and educational institutions are exempt, but require an Administrative Pass issued by a local Forest Service office. How much does a Pass cost, and where may I get mine?• Daily Pass - $5.00• Annual Pass - $30.00 (good for one year from the month of purchase)When you purchase an Annual National Forest Adventure Pass, you may also purchase Passes for up to 3 additional family vehicles for $5.00 each. Additional Passes come either as a Secondary Vehicle Sticker (good for placing on the bumper of your motorcycle, jeep, etc.), or a Secondary Vehicle Hang Tag (to hang from the rearview mirror of an additional vehicle.) Take the vehicle license number for each additional vehicle with you when you go to buy your Annual Pass, and call ahead to make sure that the passes you wish to purchase are available. In order for holders of Golden Age or Golden Access Passports to receive a discount, their Passes must be purchased at a Forest Service office. Independent vendors are not required to give a discount. Proof of age (driver's license or photo I.D.) is required to obtain a Golden Age Passport. Many local sporting goods and backpacking stores sell Adventure passes. Click here for a list of retailers in your area. What will my money be used for?The money generated by this program will be returned to the local Forest to provide services such as more and cleaner restrooms, more frequent trash removal, better-maintained trails, and restoration and protection of the natural environment. Why is the Pass Needed?National Forest lands are used and enjoyed by millions of people each year. As our population grows, so does demand for recreation on the Forests. However, at the same time recreation use has increased, recreation budgets have been drastically reduced. This means fewer dollars and fewer people to maintain facilities such as restrooms, campgrounds and trails at even minimum standards. To address this need, Congress passed legislation in 1996 authorizing a Recreation Fee Pilot Project allowing National Forests to collect fees for recreation use, and invest them locally. In this pilot project, 80% of the funds collected will be returned to the local Forest to be invested in maintaining and improving recreation sites and facilities, and in protecting the Forests resources and habitat, particularly those areas that are heavily used. This legislation is an opportunity for you and the Forest Service to work together to improve the quality of your recreation experience and enhance the protection of the Forests we treasure. How does the Forest Service know where I want my money used?On the Pass, there is a way for you to tell us what Forest area you're planning to visit. Don't forget to complete the stub when you purchase your Pass. The information you provide assists us in determining how to improve services at your favorite Forest location! What about Golden Age, Golden Access and Golden Eagle Passports?Golden Age (for Seniors over 62), and Golden Access Passports (for disabled citizens) entitle you to 50% off the cost of the Adventure Pass. To obtain the discount, however, you must purchase your Pass at Forest Service offices rather than one of the independent vendors.Since this is a recreation use fee, Golden Eagle Passports will not be honored as they are entrance passes. The Adventure Pass is not an entrance pass. For more information about the National Forest Adventure Pass, please call your local Forest Service office.Cleveland National Forest: Supervisor's Office, Rancho Bernardo/San Diego; 619.673.6180Descanso Ranger District, Alpine; 619.445.6235Palomar Ranger District, Ramona; 619.788.0250Trabuco Ranger District, Corona; 909.736.1811

There is no Shame in not trying something you dont fell your ready for... Most of us here are just glad your willing to come out and ride with us.. With all the differant kind of bikes that show up, and different rider skills, of course we all have different limitations.... We'll allways have a different way around, and/or will help you walk or ride your bike through anything you think your not ready for... once again, there is no Shame.!!!! I'm kinda speaking for the rest of us here..but this is what i've learend from the few rides i've been on... .Just another member............Kaw'ee.

Sounds great rob, i still have some of your shrimp in my tool pack, that i stole from johns BBQ . i'll pitch in and bring that..and we ran into those Big Horn sheep on our sat' ride,, so i might also bring some EWE, not fer eat'in , just for some eyecandy.. (copy n pasted from the other post..)

Go to the " whos going riding " section, everybody is wellcome, ,sandiegoland has a ride on saturday that seems like a perfect noob ( new guy) ride,, wish i could make it ,but its my daughters birthday . Wellcome to S.D.A.R. from just another member ... Kaw'ee
  20. Hey 2wheels, I remember your origanal post as well, and you talked about a green klr coming by ,on the oriaflamie trail,,it was that last little nasty rocky section just before the top , before we started heading down again, anyhow that was me.!! .I stoped and asked if you were ok, .....this pic not us, only added for story enhancement...... how cool remembering you there, and now reading this post and having just met you at johns BBQ, I stoped in borrego springs for a big fat burrito, and saw you go by, and then meet you again at that first 20 foot sand hill, just before the roller coster sand gully that punched out in san felipe.. but just blew right by ,becouse you seemed to be ok.!!! it was my first ride with the club , and i rode solo also, but now that i've met a few members, if theres one this year, we should all hook up and camp n ride together... Kaw'ee
  21. quote; ride=orange....Where's the rest of your pics? ..........Sorry, but i've been really busy.............. With all the current pic's and write ups, I figured there was plenty for just a four hour ride.!!! But since you asked for it...heres you proving, some kids never grow up... But if i may be serious for just this once.. ride-orange's son is a emt or medic of some sort, and rob has some trainning if the need arise's , he instantly responded to the guys in the crash, and was actually testing the kid for shock in my picture...and of course he stayed with them the whole time untill the emergency crews showed up...which makes him my new hero..!!! Rob a great guy to have along on a ride , as a friend or as someone that can help if the need arise's... P.S. I sure hope I drown at his BBQ, I just know he'll be there for me with the proper life saving proceduere, ( I'm hoping you have party mints on hand )
