    Computer help

Since your computer isn't recognizing the drive, I'd tend to think it's the controller in the enclosure. 90% of the time I've had drive issues, it's been mechanical issues. That video posted above will work for those types of issues. Take the enclosure apart and see if you can get the drive out. Bring the drive itself into Fry's and get a drive enclosure that fits your type of drive (show them the drive and they should be able to sell you the right one - there are various standards/sizes/etc). They cost $10-$20 if you grab a cheap one (usually good enough since you're just going to get your data and not run the thing nonstop). Install the drive and see if you can get your data. Copy your files to your computer if you can brows it. That's the first thing those data recovery places do and charge you mega bucks for it. If that doesn't work, your drive internals are probably fried. If your data is valuable enough there are other ways of getting at the data (again, it's usually the mechanical stuff that dies - motor, bearings, etc) but that involves more work and cost. The recovery places will actually dismantle the drive and install the platters in a working drive to get the data, but I've never tried that. The software solutions won't help if your computer can't see the drive. By the way, thanks.. I just bought a 1tb WD passport, and now I'm concerned about using it for backups!
  3. Come on Randy, that's too much work!!! It's more fun to let someone else do the work for you! kellymac, Hopping on the web and going to Pala's website took 0.69 seconds and netted the following page: Events Schedule| Pala Casino Which says:

    North County Run 8/15

Yeah.. I'll head up to Carl's. That's the start of the GPS track and I'll go there in case any lurkers show up. See you guys at 8am there. I'm just going to head straight up since I'm a few miles west of Escondido.

    North County Run 8/15

It's a mix of pavement and dirt all the way up. The most dirt is to just backtrack, but it depends on time. We can make that call as we go along. I'd pack some snacks and fill the tanks with gas/water. No real place to stop until we drop off the mountain.

It's your ride, sounds like a good route. I'd suggest meeting at Carl's Jr in Fallbrook (GOOGLE MAPS LINK HERE) and hitting the road early (8am worked for us). I'd probably skip Margarita Peak, as well as lunch at Hell's Kitchen(maybe hit it on the way back instead) in the interest of time. Here's the general route in Google maps: LINK HERE GPS File: LINK HERE Let me know if that's what you're thinking about.

    North County Run 8/15

Where are you coming from and what do you want to check out? The other question is how much time to people have? There are really two rides you can do up here in North County. The Ramona Loop: Another Big Bike Ride - Toro Peak and the Fallbrook to Corona Ride that are all-day type rides. Everything else up here is shorter stuff (Nate Harrison - 8 miles long, etc) and has a bit of pavement thrown in. Take a look and see which interests you and we can come up with a meeting place/time and go from there.

I could be talked into a ride this weekend! Let me know what your details are. My little bike is down for a rebuild, so I'll be on the 950 if the route will tolerate a big bike.

    Arai Helmet Care

My XD has removable liners and I've pulled them out and washed them multiple times in the washer. So does my Arai Profile and my Shoei dirt helmet. I think it's pretty much standard now.

  11. Last Sunday I was talking with someone who said they had ridden up Toro Peak recently. I had forgotten how nice the views are from up there and am thinking about heading up there this weekend. Sunday is better for me right now. Rather than ride pavement up there, we could do Bagstr's Ramona loop up to Anza then do the out-and-back to Toro Peak from there. The only disadvantage of this is that it makes for a long day! Since it's a long day, we probably ought to be rolling pretty early. Let's plan on meeting at Packards Coffee Shop (GOOGLE MAPS LINK HERE) in Ramona at 7th and Main and ready to roll by 7:30am. Dirt up to the Hideout, then pavement to Warner Springs, Dirt to Anza, then over to Toro Peak for the dirt road to the top. From there, back to Anza. Pavement to the dirt on the north side of Palomar. Pavement back to the Hideout, and dirt back to Ramona. Long day, but I suppose we could always bail out of the Palomar stuff on the way back and slab it back home or to the trucks. It should be all relatively easy riding and suitable for big bikes. I'll be on the Great Pumpkin (950 Adventure). Not a fast pace, but we need to keep moving to cover the miles. I 'hand drew' a GPS track from the gas station in Ramona and added it to Bagstr's GPS file. Grab the gdb file from : THIS LINK Anyone interested?
  12. Great pictures everyone! Thanks for sharing... I'm ready for another big bike ride! Maybe actually complete the North Main Divide ride into Corona and back!
  13. Yeah.. we were having lunch at the 371 Diner by then. Nice day on the mountain. You could definitely feel it get cooler as you climbed!
  14. Good ride today everyone! Thanks for coming out. It was a little warm, but not too bad while we kept moving. Here's a few pictues: Looking south to Borrego Springs from Toro Peak - Great views up there!

    MotoZ tire question

You just have to mount them backwards on the rim!
  16. B) Funny man! PS - If you're not joking, check the first post - it tells you which one and has a Google maps link (even a street view photo of the place) PPS - 7th and Main if you don't want to scroll back
  17. That place is pretty cool. Last time I was there, it was good, but SLOW... We'll have to see how the pace turns out on the ride. Last time we were there, the old lady running the place pulled out a bunch of photos of her on old motorcycles from when she was a teenager - what a trip down memory lane for her!
  18. There are a couple places to grab some food in Anza. A nice little grill and a Dairy Queen. It all depends on how the time flows.
  19. I'm NOT riding double with you all day Sunday.. Bring a different bike!!!
  20. Depends on rider/passenger. I'd say yes, but skill level plays quite a bit into it. Most of it is relatively level fire-roads. Some (but not too much) sand. Very little steep loose climbs.
  21. Yup.. Same road. You pass by Santa Rosa Mountain on the dirt road up to Toro Peak. HERE'S THE AREA IN GOOGLE TOPO MAPS I just had one 'strong maybe' from a guy here at work and another 'probably' from another. Should be a good ride as long as it doesn't get too hot on us! Anza is a forecasted hight of 84 on Sunday.
  22. My BlackBerry is locked in a cage right now (stupid military rules) so I can't check it. Will it work if you type : http://dualsport-sd.com/forums/ into the browser address bar?

    Happy Rider Photos

No, they're not happy........they're just being very "Ghey" Oh. I think Paul was just happy to finally have his bike down to pavement and a ride 40 miles back to his truck. I was happy to not have to fight with the Great Pumpkin towing a bike on off-camber, slick roads!

    Time Flys.....

Awesome!!! Congratulate Airman Crawford from me! I still remember my "dollar ride" like it was yesterday (if you can call 15 years ago yesterday). C-17's are one of the harder planes to refuel - Since they're so big and blunt nosed, they push off a pretty nasty bow-wave (just like a boat does in the water) and the tanker crews are pretty much working overtime to keep the plane from nosing over as that wave tries to lift the tail - good on him! I hope he put his gloves on the chin rest!
