  1. Amps kill not volts. Learned all that stuff getting certified for Toyota Hybrids, those batteries will kill you, (230-275 volts depending on model, lots of amps compared to a regular automotive battery.)

I'm not sure if we want to turn this into an electrical theory discussion, but voltage is the "pressure", amperage is the measurement of flow. If there is no difference in voltage between 2 points, no amperage will flow. However, if there is no resistance in a circuit

(like jumper cables between 2 batteries) a lot of current will flow with just a small amount of difference between the 2.

Amperage is what kills, but it takes a pretty large amount of voltage to create enough to kill (OSHA considers anything less than 50 v non-lethal voltage) and AC is considerably more dangerous than DC at any voltage so 12v DC is very unlikely to flow enough amperage through your body for you to even feel it.

That was right from the book..What was that? Page 2 LOL. I was a electrician in another life for Berg Electric.

OSHA considers anything less than 50 v non-lethal voltage??????

A cops stun gun carries 50,000 to 100,000 Volts and its Non-Lethal????

  2. +1

Soooo Honda needed more time to get the tranny right because they had never built one before??

Honda was king...now they aren't....they can be again...but not like this.

Well said. This new CRF just reminds me of why I pushed my Hondas out of the garage. I always got excited for the new product or model year launches and it was always such a blundering disappointment.

Zenosan is right, his bikes are the best dualsports Honda has ever made and they're 30 years old.

  3. The map on the Vholdr website is just an approximation. I didn`t pinpoint it.

Here is another video of Tenaja Truck Trail. Turn the sound down first.

    http://contour.com/s...aja-truck-trail

His map of the location does not match his route. His location mark on the map is the section of the TT that heads up to Wildomar OHV. In fact, his marker locates the trail head to Fishermans Camp.

Follow his map from the marker down to the intersection of Tenaja Road and De Luz TT, then follow that south to the label of the Gourd Farm. This is the section from his video. The concrete slab he crosses near the end is the waterfall.

Fun ride both ways, but the northern section is now all paved...

  4. I am working on this 84 200X. Got most of the parts on EBay. I got the tires on a tire website, I dont remember which one.

    Nice!

Picked up an '82 185S this past week and am working on bringing it back to life. Might have to hit you up for some sources for parts since you seem to know where to find all of this stuff! Want to find the old "butterfly bars", header and exhaust, and maybe tires for starters. Lots of clean up to do, after I get it running!

  5. That is possible, there was enough room for her to drive through with him on the hood.

It also looked like she backed up and hit him again as he was walking up to her.

Is itthe possible that the driver was making a lane change and did not see the bike?

Could have been avoided with a cooler head.

  6. Clutch lever from the dealer for a Husky, $52.00 (hydraulic) Almost 25% of the price for the guards.

I have Highway Dirtbikes guards now, Expensive but strong as hell, plus the mirrors are cool.

I carry a brake and clutch lever for my Kawasakis. I have never broken or bent a lever when I had a KTM, and also no breakage or bending to my Husqvarna levers, so I haven't carried spares for my Euro bikes. I suppose that I have just been lucky with the TE and ought to order some spares. :coolio:

  7. They will check the vin on the frame,it has something to do with it. I found this response on another forum. I dont know if it covers older carbureted bikes.

"If your bike has a Cat, the VIN supplied to California DMV should show it as a 50 state version bike. You may want to go to the California DMV website. It has info that may answer your questions."

    People love plated 2 strokes!

Most of the newer ones are plated in AZ. not really legal here.coolio.gif

Imagine a plated KTM 525 with all the good stuff and 10 pounds lighter, more power, 200.00$ top end!!!

I think it could be done for under 5,000.00$blink.gif

    Craig.

It's the motor and emissions that make it legal or not. I'm pretty sure CARB doesn't think the frame/tires/etc affects the environment. An AZ registered bike is legal here as long as it spends over half it's life annually in AZ. I would assume most have better things to do than run about trying to disprove that.

  8. Wolfman has rain covers available for their products.

    http://www.wolfmanlu...ain_covers.html

They also have some other lines besides the Enduro line that are waterproof.

I too like the Wolfman stuff. I did look at it prior to getting the Giantloop, but I considered mounting and waterproof. Wish I could have seen both side by side before. I tend to pack too much "stuff" need a lesson on what I dont need......

  9. Here is a pic of the broke Ural

    http://i224.photobuc...dash2012002.jpg

    Second page of this post.

4 full dressed riders set up for a day of riding just left my Wifes Starbucks at about 9am in Escondido at the corner of I-15 and Via Rancho Pkwy. My wife asked if they did the Desert Dash. One of the riders mentioned to my wife that his Ural lost a clutch on the dash.

May have been 3 Yamahas and 1 KTM. Who was on the Ural?

  10. I just read this in the rules over at ADV Rider.

"8. No multiple user ID's. Fake n00bs, aka Multiple User IDs, are, except in exceptional circumstances, merged with the originator. Or both IDs may be banned. Try and sign up as a fake n00b while you are banned, and your temporary time-out might become permanent. If you are trying to change your user name, go to the thread in the Ask Baldy, Blame AceRph forum."

The fake n00b didn't last long did it Craig? And that probably just set his mind that he was right in making it perm.
