Sorry it’s been a long time since I update this thread. I finally bought a second set of wheels for my R1250GS and fitted them with the schrader pressure sensors. I read in another forum that if you swap the wheels one at a time the computer will relearn the sensor and display the tire pressure without getting confused. You don’t have to go through all the trouble of reprogramming the computer as long as you don’t swap both wheels at the same time.
Well it worked like a champ! It only took about 3 miles on each wheel to relearn the sensor. Pretty happy about that so now I can swap my wheels for different riding condition. I know, it’s an expensive solution but I wanted to have the flexibility to go on long rides on the road without having to listen to that damn howling from my Motoz Tractionator Adventure tires. Which by the way are great in the dirt but suck on the road!

Yes our bike fees are stupidly high and I won’t even tell you how much I pay for my 2015 F350. But what is really ridiculous is that my 2006 F250 has been going up for the last 5 years. I just paid the tags for it again and it was $350! We have some real idiots running this State and no I don’t vote for them.p

Is anyone going out on a ride tomorrow that’s big bike friendly?

I ride Old Julian all the time on my BMW and Harley and personally I think you have to be a little crazy to ride a bike on that road given it mostly has no shoulder so any error is a formula for complete disaster. Plus the way the super bikers ride that road it’s enough to scare the hell out of anyone!

Sounds interesting but a night ride tomorrow is not in cards for me. If the ride doesn’t kill me, my wife surely will for missing a family event! Too bad though as I would have like to get my KTM 500 out for a little exercise.

Any rides scheduled this weekend? Temps should be perfect!

But trips like that usually include a few days here or there seeing family along the way. I'm sure I'll eventually do Alaska just because you kind of have to at some point. But I'd like to have 4 weeks for that and I'm not that free yet.
Alaska is definitely on my bucket list! Just have to retire first! As much as I would love to do a trip similar to Long Way Up I don’t think I want to make that investment plus it’s not something I’d want to do solo. I think I’d rather spend the money on an European adventure as I feel way more connected to there than South America.

Just saw the first episode of Long Way Up. Looks to be a pretty interesting challenge doing this on an electric bike. But of course when you got the kind of money they have to pull this off it’s no where near impressive as those who do this on their own. Besides I’m just watching to see the scenery as I doubt I will ever be able to do a trip like this in my lifetime.

I’m still looking into it and as best as I can tell the older oil cooled models have the ability to hold two pressure settings but the on the newer water cooled ones BMW removed this option. I’ll let you know once I have confirmed it.

I have a 2019 R1250GS and I was thinking about getting a spare set of wheels so I can swap between street and off roading without remounting tires. Obviously the tire pressure settings are quite different between these tires and I was wondering how to manage the sensors without having to go to the dealer and have new settings flashed into the computer. I heard a rumor that the computer can mange two set of settings. Has anyone dealt with this? Any input on this is greatly appreciated!

I’m interested but can you give us a rough idea on the route?

Looks like an awesome trail but not for me! Too damn old. I’ll see hell soon enough, no need to push my rendezvous date!

I rode by there today and the gate was definitely open.

BMW Tire Pressure Sensors

I have not tried changing the tire pressure settings yet. I’m just happy I got the bike to properly detect the sensors. All the old posts in other forums talked about how much of a nightmare it was to get the bike to properly detect the sensors.
