Thanks guys. Yes, we are going a different direction. Mostly because my young daughter is not into the boating thing. I do plan on getting a small Valco aluminum boat or something to fit into my TOYHAULER (when I find the right one) You guys are more than welcome to come ride, though the HEAT is a real killer. It was 77 Sunday with a breeze, and I was sweating pretty bad. We may have missed our window! CiD, will you be out for Desert Storm by chance? I think I will be there ready to ride 4/28-5/1.

Hey guys, After riding around a while on the 250, it is obvious to me that I want a 450 to throw around. Does not have to be plated. Ideally, I'm looking to spend $3000 or much less hopefully. Electric start would be really nice, but not necessary. I will be taking it out to Havasu and leaving it in the summer to ride around at night, so I will need a light kit. Will also be licensing it out there. I'm not in a huge hurry to find the right one, but I'm ready to buy when it comes around. This one has caught my attention today. Have you tried the drop down technique?Lower the idle till it almost dies. Then turn in the air/ fuel screw 1/4 turn, repeat if rythum of motor sounds smoother. If the bike idles better with the air screw turned all the way in, most likely needs new slow curcut jet (smaller). Dibs on the 250. Thanks, I'll look into that. I haven't forgot about you on the bike! I'll know for sure by next week.

Pure gold for someone like me stuck in an office today!!! I had a friend that is far more talented come ride Pine Valley Sunday. We switched off between the XR250 and the 450. Friend has a 2001 CR500 two stroke, and said the WR rides similar to the two stroke. Pretty wild. He also said the WR is still a little slower (close) but the 500 is heavier and outdated with suspension. Interesting to see how far the technology has come! I still love the XR, but I'm getting closer and closer to realizing I don't think I will be riding it much longer and am considering putting it up for sale....

Okay bike is GOOD TO GO! Runs good. Still have the cold engine hesitation, but when it warms up it seems to clear out. Ran it up and down the block and wow! Shifts smooth as butter. Love it. Loading up both bikes for riding tomorrow!

I did not pull the needle, but I suppose I will tonight if it needs to be done. New plug will be installed, and I'll throw this in the parts bin for backup. The coolant reservoir was bone dry, but radiator has fluid in it. Might be a leak in the hose or something. Thumper, I may take you up on the 15 min removal challenge on this bike. I have the whole rear subframe, and shock removed to get it out. I'm easily into the removal, valve check, and mild carb clean for 5 hours at this point.

Thanks. I'm seeing jetting around where I am, but no one has what I have. Bike has the free mods done to it, including airbox snorkel removed, gray wire to put it into YZ map pulled, and air injection pump removed. Someone did all the mods I wanted to do. Looks like it's just a slip on pipe. No idea on anything else. Should I start buttoning it up with these jets, or should I change them to something else? Not going to lie, it was a major PAIN to get the carb out. I never want to do this again. In other news, just did the valve clearance spec and I'm pleasantly surprised to report they're all within spec so that is phenomenal.

To be completely honest I'm in over my head on this carburetor. There are several pieces with numbers on them and none of them coincide with what I see online. The center large with hex is a weird star symbol with 162.5. Does anyone know what the should be? Bottom right within plastic is 65. Top middle within plastic is 50

EDIT: Sorry, this ride is definitely in the wrong section. It is UNPROMOTED I was planning on meeting up with a few friends this weekend at Tierra Del Sol, but my wife had other ideas. Anyone going out Saturday morning? Would like to do pine valley, corral canyon, or McCain Valley? I'm flexible! I've been classified as an intermediate rider. Unfortunately, I don't have the experience in any of these areas lately to lead around. Thanks!!

Thanks, good addition. I REALLY want new graphics for it, but I figure I'll be dropping it a few times during my learning curve. The plastics look good from far,but they are pretty scuffed up all over. So maybe I'll order new and start over.
