  1. Welcome Ben and The Enduro Shop! Appreciate your SDAR support! I've heard great things about the new shop here on the forums and purchased a tank thru JustGasTanks.com for my KTM. Look forward to dropping by the shop soon!
  2. I was indeed a no show... Had to work the weekend before leaving on a 4 day MC trip to Green River / Moab, UT. But, the consolation was ripping around the Green River valley and San Rafael Swell in snow, rain and then 65 degree weather! Gonna miss this weekend too. Hope to get out there sometime soon! Will coordinate with others planning on racing when I'm able to make it out. Always fun running the course with riding buddies!
  3. Man, that really sucks... Heal quickly 350Thumper! Kenny, thanks for being there to assist. My guess is your actions along with others strongly influenced the positive(ish) outcome.

Highly recommend this little gem... https://www.bulletproofdesigns.com/products/type/swing-arm-guards/ktm-swingarm-guard.html Protects your chain guard tabs on the swingarm. After seeing all the scratches on mine, I'm sure I would have snapped a tab off if it wasn't installed. Specially given the terrain at CC and McC.

I run the snap / grunt combo as well... Think you'll find some enjoyable (although minor) gains from the mods. I have a FMF megabomb / 4.1 RCT combo for exhaust though. And I did my mods in stages (1st- Megabomb; 2nd- Snap; 3rd- 4.1 muff; 4th- Grunt), so no big gains all at once for me. Definitely gains over stock when all was said and done...
  7. Looks like temps will be moderate for the race... Mid 60's in the am, high of 84. Start hydrating now none-the-less!
  8. Driving out early Sunday am as well.
  9. We're all creaky-knee'd Seniors! Well, I am anyway...
  10. FWIW, my experience is similar to robertaccio's... I switched to Evans in my 2012 350 XCF-W +/- 9 mos ago. Ran the prep and followed all instructions for using the Evans. Refilled the cooling system to KTM O manual spec., ran it a bit and checked the level, made sure it was to spec. (Note: I also replaced all rad hoses with Samcos with a thermostat delete.) On my first ride, the rad cap overflow started dripping almost immediately (but I wasn't sure that was the source at first). I had suffered a pretty bad rad hit before switching to Evans, so thought that might be the source. The Evans exiting the overflow (some running down the frame where the overflow hose connects) and burning on the exhaust header had a very distinct smell (not to mention the noxious steam coming off). When I got it home, I carefully checked all suspected leak spots and determined that the only "leak" was from the overflow at the rad cap running down into the frame (as normal). Each time since where I've topped it off to spec., I have the same experience (similar to robertaccio's). The Evans will "expand" and push out the rad cap overflow until it "self equalizes," then everything appears to be fine. Bike doesn't seem to run noticeably hotter. Just seems to want less Evans. I'm not chemist and have done little additional research on this, but if Evans is more "expansive" that a water / coolant mixture, perhaps the extra expansion is all that is hitting your overflow recovery and slight seepage / leakage on the exhaust causing the smell? Might be too simplistic in approach, but this has been my experience. Thought it might be helpful. With that said, I have worried that I have bigger issues related to the cooling system, so maybe I'm missing something major. But once the cooling system "regulates," everything appears to run / function fine. Hope you get it worked out easily!
  11. Group rallied at 8 a.m. as scheduled, only to find out that our organizer and ride leader extraordinaire, Bikeslut, was not able to join us due to some issues with the house. We were geared up and ready to ride when I believe mtnmnseth pulled up and informed the others that he had blown a bottom end bearing. Two down, but we had to soldier on. . . Roll call included sdhydro, Ken S, Logroller, 1kstep and myself. Weather was pretty nice... about 65 when we got started. The dirt was dirty... No trace of moisture left. But the tighter, semi-rutted turns held up ok and didn't swallow your front tire as they often do. We ran around through a good bit of single track for about 2 hours. Pretty good pace with not too many stops. Found some new-ish to us tight stuff among the manzanita which was a lot of fun. Then found some rocks to play on. Everybody stayed upright (most of the time!). When we were all done, Madman Kenny packed up and headed for the track at 212 to practice his MX after a full morning of single track... Not sure how he does it!! Sdhydro went on his way and Logroller, 1kstep and I stopped for some well earned Mexican food on the way back in to SD proper. A couple of the boys had their cameras on. Maybe there's some good highlights to post... Another great day... Another great ride!
  12. I'm headed to Palm Desert this morning. It's been too nice around here so I'm going to bask in some 99 degree temps for fun! I'm out for tomorrow at McC / Lark.

Congratulations, Ty! Welcome to the 350 club (if there is such a thing...)! Lots of good information here http://www.omraoffroad.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=11373&sid=166785d4fd2df6170f8fa7a2d67048a7 on minor and major mods to the 350 EXC (most equally applicable to the XCF-W). (Same / similar thread here http://ktmtalk.com/showthread.php?t=440785&st=0 on KTM Talk.) This guy goes into great detail on his mods and I found/find them very useful. Also, Dave at http://bestdualsportbikes.com/ has done a lot of work on the 350 EXC. Again, some useful info with regard to the XCF-W. I've had my 350 since 2012. If there's anything you have questions on, I'll do what I can to help answer them.
  14. Rob... I'd say you worked a little magic on the DRZ! Wherever the conga line went, you followed right along without hesitation. We hit a couple pretty steep rock faces and other technical challenges... Fine representation of the DRZ'ers!

    sunday @ lark

I'll get one started later this evening, if someone doesn't beat me to it. As noted above, lost part of the group due to various issues... Final roll call was SDHydro, Logroller, Kenny, 1kstep and myself. Good ride... Just about 2 hours. Weather was decent... dirt was cooperative. There was some vid taken, but none by me. Check the ride reports later...

    sunday @ lark

MMS... Might be too late by now (it's almost noon), but I have a pile of avocado wood that i'll donate. Kinda scraps and such but you are welcome to what you need and it'll be fine for a camp fire. I'm in PB not too far off the 5. I'll PM my cell number.
  17. Thanks for all the input... Has been very helpful and educational! Worked with a buddy and he does not think a rebuild is necessary (for all the reasons given here, basically)... Going to check the valve clearances and go from there. Glad I asked the fine folks on SDAR before I just cracked it open! (Not that I would have done that...)
  18. Thanks Robertaccio... The 350 is fuel injected.

I'm 90% in... Need to rebuild my top end, but can probably put it off another weekend. May bring the roommate too.
  20. Nice job, Kenny! I managed 30 miles at McCain and I'm sore... You sir, are impressive!
  21. Unfortunately, I think I'm gonna have to bow out on this one.... Work week kicked my arse and I had no time to race prep the bike, body or mind. 100 miles in 80-90 degrees is probably not in me. Ken, Darren... Go out there, kick some ass and have a blast! I'll make the next one.
  22. Whoop! (Or should I say WHOOPS!?)
  23. Very nice! When I put it on full screen, it's like I'm riding a Husky instead of a desk! Nice to live vicariously through your weekday rides! Thanks for posting!
