    Tweek tweek

I sucked at drugs... kept using the PLASTIC spoon.
  2. Sweet crap man! I'm glad I saw this before you went and wasted any $$$$. Those tires are damn near new. Whoever is telling you to replace them has more money than sense I tell ya. When you can see the casing; then it's time to start shopping for deals. (or dumpster diving; my method) Ride the slide. Message brought to you by SicVic; a name you can trust

You're sooooo right. I should have thrown down. Was gonna do the heel clicker or the ole front wheel grabber but then I realized those two tricks would reveal my age so I opted out. The tracks are all you get.

Sorry, not understanding the oil question.

    Need a tig weld!

+1 hose clamps. Only thing holding my Huffy together for the past year or so.
  6. Whoa...easy on the feelings here. The new medication my Counselor has me on is causing me to be extra sensitive. They tell me by being different I'm special. I'm special.
  7. In if a group order goes down. No additional axle. Thanks, SV
  8. Completely Rob. You could see the hills and knew there had to be some sweet trails out there but we even got a stern warning about poaching just going through the entrance.
  9. This is an example of one of my favorite things about being part of SDAR. Having such a huge varity in riding styles is super cool and I really enjoy reading about what people like to ride. Stoked you had a good ride and this is in no way taking away from the fun that you had.... This is my thoughts on the place from a ride there with Jon about a week ago. One Mans "thumbs up" is another Mans "thumbs down" Id rather tack my satch to a hardwood floor, then do jumping jacks rather than ride that place again! Again with the disclaimer... I am an Idiot and have no idea what I'm talking about. I never say anything with the intent to hurt feelings. Most times my .02 does not equal face value. End disclaimer. I know there had to be some sweet single track in the nearby hills. We just couldn't find it. Anyways; road tripp'n is always a blast, sweet pics n It's rad you were jazzed!

    1MAR rain day

Thanks fellas. Great information. I always like to learn about this stuff. Its cool to see and hear it in the video but hard to tell exactly what's really going on. What I could tell is that everything was working together very nicely. See you guys out there!

    1MAR rain day

Oh man you have that bike setup really well Rob. Front end tracks nicely in corners, responds well to the rocks and sends good feedback to the rider when she starts to slide. Stoked! Answer me this... I noticed it in another video of yours too.. This is me asking and NOT "bashing". Your bike sounds underpowered at lower RPMs. (This is my question) Spinning gets you no where, but it sounds like it just has enough ooomph to keep you going up to a certain point then it begins to pull. I'm only going off what I hear from the video. Mt thoughts are: Wider range transmission, some version of the Rekluse, It's not a 500, less power is a mild trade for amazing handling, you're just taking it easy as to not show the competition how badass you really are!!!!! Whatever is happening; It's working for ya. Really well ridden run. I only ask cause I know you'll have a solid tech answer.
  12. No joke; I just spent 6 straight hours of sorting through gear between Cycle Gear and REI. And now you drop this on me..... I can't handle any more numbers right now. Thanks for the info. I'll have to bang away at the rates tomorrow and see what I come up with for the additional weight. This is a way out there question but, what are your plans for that gear you brought out for me to check sizing with???? Just wondering...
  13. Just about anything beats out the Dentist chair. Today was awesome even w/o having the rain we had hoped for. Better get it asap; by this weekend it will be back to bone dry again. Bags was the guide today. He pointed the way and I followed.. We rode some of this... ...and some of this... I did not follow him up here. TrailMaster Dave
  14. I'm ready to pull (slow, steady squeeze) the trigger on some gear. Reaching out to those of you who do this type of riding (Adventure/Touring) for a thumbs up or a thumbs down. The big plan is for the TAT (TransAmerican+++ Trail) I've watched about 50 zillion videos and reviews on everything made over the last 10 years. So now I'm confused... Really, this is what I have narrowed it down to. This style of riding is not something I claim to know anything about so my thoughts about what I think I want/need may be way off kilt. System with layers: Reduces the need to bring other clothing. Use the thermal at the camp site and when sleeping if needed. Allows for lighter smaller sleeping bag... Rain liner can be used as a jacket for warmer weather or clubbing out in town. The way I'm thinking of this stuff is that I'll be living in it for about 2 months. Of course, for local stuff as well. So again, thumbs up/ thumbs down and other good ideas. Gore-tex is stupid expensive. "That is all I have to say about that" Don't even mention Klim gear unless you have something in your closet that ur damn near will'n to give away. I will not support them. If you really need a reason... I'll just give you the "blanket" PTSD. http://www.revitusa.com/en-us/#/products/FJT171 http://www.revitusa.com/en-us/#/products/FPT060 This will give ya'll something to do on a rainy day. Thanks tons.

    Narrowing the selection

Heres where I'm at right now. 20 degree bag, pad rated 4.2, Miles Gear Uber Bivy, and the Extreme Reactor Bag Liner. Also have the Thermo liners for riding Jacket and pants to sleep in if required. All that crap weighs only 3.56lbs and in my mind should be about enough protection to go across the US right this second. Right now may be pushing it but mid-summer is what I'm aiming for. Sounds like you have a awesome trip .223. How does this setup look???

Great information Bob! I hope to get a better "feel" for the gear when I check out the store. I don't expect anything to fit quite as well as the Hefty, but I'll try to keep an open mind.

Well I guess you don't know me at all do you...??? I ONLY use Krylon when I repaint my moto. Does that count as being a brand Ho?? Bwaaaaah *No shame to my game* I've even been looking at closeout Womens stuff if the sizes were right! If thats not good enough; used to fish the little left over potato chip pieces of soap bars out from under the wood pallets of the outdoor showers in Kandahar till I had enough to make a bar. If I were a rapper my name would be Clapt-T. (may have went overboard with the stories) You nailed it on the head. This gear is expensive; everything about this sport is expensive. It's hard to skimp on the gear; to buy stuff that is light and small you have to pay out the ears. Pay more for less if you will. CID threw all kinds of dirt into my cylinder head with the sleeping bag post up above. After an extra afternoon of researching and a additional $50. I think I have that sorted. This is exactly why I'm posting though. Gett'n it ironed out now and learning from those who have done it. Cycle Gear: Awesome recommed! I'll be going there first thing Monday. Hands on is way better than the lookie lookie I've been doing here on the Intro-Net. I'll be checking out the Items that you mentioned also. Thanks everyone and keep it coming!

I'll get back to ya. Taking some time to read over all that you just posted. THANKS!

Really!??? That just wrecked the entire plan then. I was thinking Gore-tex bivy. 30 degree bag, 4.5 rated sleeping pad, and wearing the Gore-tex and thermal liner combo if required. I'll freeze with that setup?

    bikeroutetoaster.com online map creater

So this thing does not support a satellite view then? Only gives you known trail/road options?? Am I on track here? If so, what other ways are there to route for Garmins for areas that do not have mapped trails. Example would be if I wanted to make a track of Corral doing the Fire Road but then cut across Ranger. What site provides the functions this one does, but allows you to see those type of trails from above. Anyone understand anything I just wrote????
  23. Not 100% back but I wasn't 100% when I left. All iz good. Took an easy spinner today. Some Rd; some trails, all fun. I gotta get back into Slut stomp'n shape. Not only that; since I'm out tha loop I see a lotta new faces here on the site. I gotta get my weak ars sorted out with names pop'n up like the "B-Town Mangler"! It's cool... I'll have my WarFace engaged soon enough. For now I'm still a weak sauce one legged bastard but after May It's on like the Donky Kongs. (For all you new Metro types that was once a cool saying) I'm going all throw-back. Todays stats... Started out in Santuckey, cruised to the APine and over the grade. Bucky Spring into Corral and around the outer FR loop. Down the Spur; up Kernan and back home. Saw 2 fires burning off in the distance. Also saw 3 either sheriff or BP on patrol at CC riding new KTMS. They were jealous of my sweet rig for sure. That's about the story. I'll be lurking again soon suckas.
