I think that spelling changes shape based on Geographical location you're from! Rain is good! I rode the snot out of Corral yesterday and I was dreading the thought of what its going to look like after this rain. The corrective work is nice on Kernan but it left a lot of loose deep dry powder that will take time to shape into "dry shallow powder". Till then...no good. Roger that; Not cheap!

The dimmer does make for extra "stuff" but It's nice to have alternative light output as well. Side note** Your photos from the base ride brought back memories. Mid 90s I was stalking Jar Heads with a YZ up behind Mateo. Good times!

Bro, +1 on Brad and Crusty Man. Connect wire (stator), reg/rect (plug/play) and the Squadron LED lights(plug/play) and you're stoked. I'm running a 09 exc and the lights fit into the stock light housing. I also purchased the "manual dimmer" system so that during street riding you can reduce the output of the lights to avoid being "flashed" by oncoming cars. It changes in 10% increments. That's up to you and based on your type of riding. Call 'em, talk to 'em; good people. Local clowns to boot. My $.02 Later

    Weather

I normally don't ride weekends but I'm contemplating Corral tomorrow early. Depends on the weather. One of the last times I was out to McCain I think I was chasing you around DJ. About 5 months ago I'm guessing. Maybe I'll head out there next week....???

    Weather

Ok then. Thanks for letting me know. I had hoped that maybe it got a little during the night. No dice... If it rains today I'll bet there will be nearly 40 thousand people riding out there tomorrow. Thanks for the heads up and have a great day!
  7. First and foremost; a thanks out to John and Daniel. Two great riders to have on your side when tackling the terrain this event had to offer. Props to Crawdaddy for taking the time to set up my GPS and giving me spot on instruction on how to work the thing. I'm sure It's a monumental task to put something like this together but to those who do... You did it well! About 175 miles and a lot of tough lines to conquer. Weather was perfect. Nice breeze and cooler temperatures. As always there was some serious dust to contend with. Most difficult to deal with when the sun was rising. After that.... so so at best. The positive side; a majority of the routes headed straight up rock fields and the speeds dropped to a crawl.... "IF" you were still on the bike at all. Several times I was not! In the end; if you like a challenge and you want to support a great group of folks, this event is highly recommended for next year. One last Thank You, to everyone who helped support me for this adventure. SicVic
  8. Very nice riding and meeting you fellas out there today. Appreciate ya letting me tag along. My air filter was very upset with me when I returned home. It's flat out crazy dusty there. Ranger has this black sandy silt that causes complete blindness at times. At least that's what I saw when my eyes were open! Keep me in mind if more rides are thrown together. I'd like to jump on. Keep on keep'n on.... Yee Haw Brother
  9. Start riding at 7am. Modulate over the fire road to Corral. Out across Ranger; constant pace. Maybe a few other quick connectors then back. Finished early. Goal is to keep the flow with minimal stoppage. Thanks

    Big Bear

Really nice to see you and thanks for spending the day manning the check point. You would be surprised how much of a "pick me upper" it is to see a familiar face out there. I'm sure I'll be seeing you again soon!
  11. Passport and trials tires are all that's required at the Border...
  12. Great ride this morning. Out, round, and back. No medical or personal problems to report at this time... over.
  13. Very cool! You mail me the details when It's sorted and I'll be all over it. Thanks for the invite!
  14. I wouldn't be riding that trail if it wasn't for yours and others hard work. I'll catch ya next time!

I'm in. When and where is meet up?
  17. Hello John, I'm in for a day! I'll call you tomorrow (Tuesday) so you can tell me what the plan is. Talk to you soon. Vic
  18. My first suggestion would be to get the battery/charging issue sorted. Kick starting while all caddy-whompus on a rock sucks.... almost as badly as uphill bump starts....!! Coolant: I use "The Bright Orange colored Coolant" by LIQUID PERFORMANCE. It's pre-mixed already and comes in a 64oz container. Sold at most Moto shops. Stuff for a trail side flat repair... WORD!!!!!!! Whatever tire you end up purchasing; you should change it out yourself, in the hot mid-day sun, while wearing all your gear (helmet and goggles on), with the bike slung from a tree branch in your yard, using only the tools that's with your bike. This way, when things go south on the trail; your stoked! I enjoy tire removal so much that I regularly practice it when I have a little spare time. Pretty good at it..... I can do F/R under 15 minutes using only a plastic spork and a wooden toothpick. Point is? It's better to know before ya go! Great riding with ya; see you out there again soon. Later
  19. Great times out there today! Awesome vibe and great tracks. Looking toward the next one.
  20. It was fun...in a hot masochistic sort of way. Ride report and some pics tomorrow-4 of us rode the full length of Ranger- not to self...do that FIRST next time not last .... and siclurker chuckles under his breath....
  21. Checking to see if anyone's planning rides in preparation for the event. Please let me know if something's going down. Technical riding a plus... I know there has to be some secret squirrel groups out there! I'm not your competition; I just want to complete the thing. "The Hard Way" ONE MONTH COUNTDOWN!!!!!! Thanks in advance.
  22. Have you sorted this ride yet? Day, time, destination..??

    Big Bear Run

That was a great write up! I did do the event last year and was able to finish it. My odo said 202 miles at the end... The rocky climbs were all terrible but the worst was traveling at faster speeds with pods of other riders in the open areas in the first 40 miles or so. The dust brought visibility down to zero and caused several energy sucking mistakes early on. This year I plan on sitting back and pacing myself for the first quarter or so. Let me know if plans come up to do any local/technical rides before the event. Thanks!

    First aid kit help

Surgical gloves came in handy last weekend when we had to pull the air filter off a submerged bike. Better than having filter oil on your hands. They can be used for a variety of things. In my experience, I've used my first aid kit on strangers more than myself, so gloves aren't a bad option. Plus they weigh nothing! Other than that, I think you're good. The Israeli bandages are great to have. This is my list. Maybe it will help. (1) American Flag (1) Tourniquet (1) .45 Cal Round (In case my position becomes overrun) Some say that the American Flag is excessive though.....?? Covers just about every situation!
