  1. Looks great! I'd be into a noob friendly, easy does it, big bike ride. I ride a 2012 Triumph Scrambler. I feel ok mostly on fire roads to SLIGHTLY more challenging terrain. It's a lot of bike to handle but I'm trying to get better at riding dirt with it. I wonder if this ride would've been something I could handle. Was it steep? Loose? Rocky? Be in touch if you're planning another ride. I just got back from a trip through Tecate out hwy 2 through La Rumorosa and down hwy 5 to Pete's camp returing via hwy 3 to Ensenada then hwy 1 into T.J. to S.D.

  2. Hey Paul,

You mentioned Indian Flats in your first post. Do you know anything about the dirt road that shoots up and off to the right as you're entering the gate to the campground? I was out there for my first time last year checking out the campground solo on my Drz and wanted to explore that dirt road but wasn't sure what I'd be in for, like how difficult, how long, and where it comes out? Any info would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Paul

  3. I do believe I'm in on this ride barring torrential downpours. I hope I can find you all. From the directions it seems like the meet up spot is off of but not on McCain Valley Rd. I'll be driving a white Ford econoline conversion with a white and yellow DR-Z on the back. If anyone sees me on the road gimme a holler. Is there an approximate head count at this point? I'll check back Sat night to make sure everything's still on.

    See ya,

    Paul

  4. I think I'm gonna do this. I've been wanting to ride with you all for a while and was bummed I didn't just get up and go on last weeks ride. I may need more detail on where to meet up, I've never ridden there. I know where the Coral Canyon entrance is but not sure about the rest.

    Look forward to it.

    Paul

Oh, I see now where it is. Will have to really motivate myself to make this one.

  5. Was up there Saturday, ran behind schedule getting to the trail head though. Didnt get there till noon, rode anyway. Saw a couple sets of tracks but never caught up. Pretty good, enjoyable, easy riding. Looking forward to doing more exploring on those trails. Thinking about camping at Oak Grove just west of the trail head and getting an earlier start next time.

  6. DirtyRocks, I could be down for this ride. Been wanting to check out the roads around Palomar and this looks to be a good weekend for riding. What would you say your skill level is and how fast do you plan on going? I take it relatively easy and would consider myself a cautious intermediate rider. I'll be riding an '02 Suzuki Dr-z400s. I.M. me your number if you think this'll work out and we'll talk more.

    Thanks,

    Paul

Or just leave a message here. I just realized you may not want to give out your number.

  7. Wake Medic,

Nice meeting you too. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna bite the bullet and order a Trail Tech "Vapor" speedometer. When I do I'll let you know, maybe we could get together and try to install it. I know you'd mentioned having some interest in getting one. If you get it before me let me know. I'd like to get some installation ideas/experience. From what I understand the install can be a little challenging.

    Take it easy,

    Paul

  8. Thanks Mistress & Beemer for hosting on your beautiful property and Kugg for the motivation to organize such an event. Had a great time! Got some good info and the lunch was incredible. Good to meet everyone and check out their respective bike set-ups. Still not sure if we'll be able to make the ride due to timing and budgetary constraints but I'm sure there will be more. Until then, take care everyone.

    Paul

p.s. Definitely want to stay informed about

the super noob trips that may be in the future...

  9. What "guy in El Cajon" is this exactly? I'm about to drop $175.00 for the Tonn Racing Rack made by Michael Tonn back in Ohio I think. It looks to be a great, strong and functional rack but would rather not spend that much dough if I don't have to. Any info on these locally made rear racks? Also, I cant really see the rack in your photo, any chance of getting a better look at it?

    Thanks
