SAN DIEGO TO VEGAS OFF ROAD
Czechsix replied to weeman's topic in Informal Local Rides & Who's Going Riding!
I'm not much, if any help, but I'm certainly interested in hearing a ride report on this! -
Pre Dash ride in Ural (Squeeze/Drop Off, etc.)
Czechsix replied to eddie's topic in Informal Local Rides & Who's Going Riding!
Yep, but they did imply that the Ural will be doing the DD...and that'd be entertaining to be around. -

Seeing the Ural do that might actually force me to come up with the cash and enter the DD -
I don't think they will...I'd give another dig at the ASO, but I'm restraining myself Yep, his gearbox is out, Svitko is still rolling on his original engine, and it's sounding like crap, according to PAU. If he fails, PAU moves up. GF - I'm getting torrents from Eurosport, myself. Plus following ADV, RaceDezert, etc. Go NED GO!

Wrong Turn Dead End(s)

Great ride report! Wish I could have gone along, looks like plenty fun. -
Well, from what I saw of the Peterhansel incident, he was in the wrong. There are some folks that are saying he hit a rock, and it nudged him over into the bike...hogwash. He had a straight line, no deviation, he didn't need to cut it that close, and he did...and the rider paid. Pretty damned cheap going of him, and yeah, I used to be a fan of his too. Then again, I liked Sainz too, but after his show of sportsmanship last year, he's on my list too. LOL.

Yep, ASO is being a particular bunch of d*cks this year, same with FIA. I like how Peterhansel skates on stuff, Despres more or less skates, folks like RG and Goncalves get boned. This is pretty much what drove JLS out to make his own rally raid series. Been going on for years.

Sun 15 - easy / intermediate ?

Possible. What kind of radio? I'll have to check with the management, might have some things that have been planned for me, without me knowing. -
RIP Marine Died on his Ducati on lower Palomar
Czechsix replied to SCHWINN's topic in 1 to 3 Day Ride Write-Ups, Stories and Photos
I'll bet that curve has claimed more than those two. RIP Marine. -
I'll show up with one for the next Corral ride. Yep, that's Russian Redneck for ya! Good job Boris.

Man, depressing. Getting to the point I don't want to hear any news, or even deal with this stuff any more. That cabin out in the woods is sounding pretty appealing right now.
-
I'll agree with the TANSTAAFL - I deal with diesels, and the usual is that you'll get less MPG, but power and torque are much better. Of course, all that extra power also wears the rest of the system faster...tires, u-joints, clutches, brakes..etc.

Very cool...pun intended. When did they start putting ski's and tracks on 2 smokes? Bizarre idea, guess it would work though
-
Not bad, but I wonder how much of that is due to simple population increase in the proper age range. Likewise, I wonder how many hams have gone sk in that time...
-
Holy crap, haven't seen one of those in years. Completely forgot about them, and I didn't see many of them way back when either. Very cool find, now you need to get it over to that pawn shop that has the TV show and see if they'll identify it as a lamborghini kicka da bika, erzberg edition, and offer you 10K for it.

Nice setup. I could never find inflatable mattresses that were worth it - leaks develop, and there's no insulation to them. I eventually went with a three section yoga/workout foam mat from Costco. Cut them down to fit on some folding side beds that I built in the Callen. No more cold nights. Yay.

Damn, that sucks. Hope he's OK. I'd be interested in hearing the details as to what happened.

Big Bear ride report

Nice report, and great pics. Makes me wanna go up there! -
342 S Twin Oaks Valley Rd #145, the Starbucks kinda across from CSU. 7pm, every Thursday. We started this on ADV, been going about a month now. If anyone's got a chance, come on over and join us.

I'll post up a warning a couple days ahead for this coming week....

I'd look into some of the game cameras that are out there. Not that expensive, can have high res, some do video, and usually good IR capacity. Heck, I think I've even seen them in Walmart.

Might not be an actual skimmer, chances are higher that someone that works there copied it and used it. Skimmers aren't that common, but when they do get placed, yeah that's a big deal. Definitely contact the biz.

Looks like a great ride, I'm gonna have to find the time to make it down to Otay one of these days. -
Sunday ride out to Santiago Peak...
Czechsix posted a topic in 1 to 3 Day Ride Write-Ups, Stories and Photos
Had a nice little ride out there, took the long way out first past the Santa Rosa preserve, then came back through Tenaja Truck Trail. The ride out was completely deserted, didn't see any traffic, and even Wildomar was dead as a doornail. Southern trailhead parking Hopped over to the North Divide side... Dusty trail, but still green! Anyone missing a 650L? And on up to Santiago Peak and the view.... New fairing build worked fine, nothing fell off, and it actually cuts the wind OK. 170 miles total from Fallbrook, past Santa Rosa EP, over Ortega Highway, and then main divide North until five miles past Santiago, plus points in between. Fun ride, I need a better seat than this CEET heheh. Have to do it again within the next few months. As usual the North entry to Tenaja TT was signed "no trespassing" "private property", and it's been long enough that I didn't remember the exact route, so that added a few miles on. Tenaja TT itself is really easy right not, a bit loose but not bad. The waterfall crossing is completely filled in and as easy as pavement, but that'll change with a few rains I'm sure. -

Plans? PLANS? what plans? No idea, I ride when the urge hits. What I do want to get out and do is head back to the mine road area and explore some more. I'll post up when I'm ready to go on that one - getting cooler and that's good. I'd like to head out to Cleveland once a month or so, and get an efficient short and fast route out there, at least to Wildomar.
