    Bullet Proof Designs

Must have been a hard fall as never been able to tweak BPD rad guards on any of my bikes since I discovered them after a few bad moments, great to hear their service is up with the products in case I need to use it.
  2. I was thinking about doing it as Roberto said it should be fun with the bits in the trees at least but now have a trip to east coast that weekend so can't make it.
  3. I have now 3 KTM 2 stroke exhaust pipes that are somewhat cracked, dented and twisted but all repairable so was wondering if anyone can recommend somewhere in SD area that can fix them up at a reasonable price, not in any big rush? Thanks.

    Local 2 stroke pipe repair

Thanks Bill, I'll give them a try instead of sending the pipes off to pacific crest which does sound like a great place.

    Trials Tire Justification

I read somewhere about another AA rider that swapped to trials tire after the first test and picked up a lot of time, certainly seemed like a smart move for those specific conditions. And I agree it's seems wrong to me also to be able to swap wheelsets out at rest checks.

    Goggles and Gloves

For gloves it depends on what and where you ride and what protection (handguards) you use, personally a big fan of fox as they wear great and super comfortable so dirtpaws are great if you don't have roost or have handguards whereas pawtectors etc. give more protection at a price if you need it but look around and you can get some great deals especially on last years models (color differences). For goggles oakleys are great but I have found scott products to be fantastic so generally use them. Many different models and huge number of different lenses, I prefer and find the higher end models are worth the extra being more comfortable foam which is thicker and absorbs sweat better, my favorite is the pro air model but that seems to have been discontinued for some reason. For wet or humid conditions I add on habervision automatic fan to prevent fogging plus roll offs.

Bruised Rib - How long does it linger?

I bruised my ribs and back over a week ago in a slow but hard fall in McCain and it still hurts to sneeze but hoping to ride again sometime this week, last time I thought it was just bruised ribs turned out to be cracked and took 6 weeks before I was OK, and laughing is very painful also.

    Beta 300RR

Totally agree with you guys, I pulled the estart off my 12 300XC as 8 pounds of excesses weight I don't need to haul around

    Sport bike question?

Thanks for the replies, so basically they are that uncomfortable and it's deemed cool, live and learn
  12. I do a reasonable amount driving freeway miles around socal, out to McCain/Corral Canyon riding, up and down to Orange county and LA, maybe 30K per year and have a question about sport bike riding. I don't ride on the street after a lucky escape many years ago and then trying a sport bike of a friend and knowing I can't be trusted, happy to keep my 2 wheel fun off road. In my driving maybe 1 to 3% (guess) of vehicles are bikes, out of that more Harley's/choppers then most others, some DS, odd SM, quite a few cruisers and quite a few sport bikes. Now out of the sport bike riders pretty much 50% ride sitting up with their left hand on their left hip/thigh, why is that, are these bikes so uncomfortable you can't ride with both hands on the bars, do they think they are cool doing this showing they don't need 2 hands to control the bike, to me it always looks negligent that they can't react to a sudden event / obstacle that appears on the road? Just curious for you sport bike riders.

    AIROH Helmets

I really couldn't believe how light these helmets are, amazing, several close friends in UK that race a lot had them but no longer. Yes they have great styles and are amazing light, if you're not bike fit and have to do a long ride/race then a huge advantage so you can keep your head held up and not kill your neck and shoulders. The negatives, well many had problems with getting full sized goggles to fit properly so they would seal on your face so some resorted to kids goggles, maybe just some models and better now as not sure but before buying try your preferred goggles in the helmet. Another friend and former ISDT day rider and now fast 50A guy dropped his Airoh in a field while setting up course for a race and the helmet split in 2, said it was less than a year old and had no major falls or hits, being such a good rider no surprise. Final issue was cost of replacement parts, a new visor costs more than some helmets (but so do Arai for example). Try before you buy and ask questions, personally if I had to do a 6 day ride flat out 6+hrs a day I would use one as an advantage, as I don't and crash more than I should I happen to like the Arai VX pro3 even though it's much heavier I prefer the fit and for what and how often I ride it works great but still over priced in my opinion.
  14. Great guards for sure, I run them on most of my 2 strokes but have always been fortunate to find them in stock with other dealers (like Munn racing @ ktmtalk) so not had the long waits / no response dealing directly.

    lark Monday

I did see your trucks and looked for you guys but didn't see or hear you the whole time, nice conditions though and glad you had a fun ride, I certainly did

How long can your seals last?

Good info, must say how surprised I am how long my WP seals last but I'm not washing my bikes much so guess that helps

    2013 KTM RECALL

That's so funny, guess that Honda riders don't know what an amazing 2 stroke sounds like anymore since they gave up as couldn't make a competive bike But nice to see KTM 4 strokes keeping it wide open to win 250 and 450 SX last night.
  18. Looking hopefully I can make this, may even camp out 1 or 2 nights as great location and fun track.

    Rides not posted

Definitely will ride with you again vic, I also mainly ride during the week but been prefering McCain recently but want to ride both Corral and McCain each week when my hand gets better after last weekend, and for Corral I normally stage at 4 corners and focus on the fun stuff rather the mileage getting in from pine valley but we can sort something out.
  20. Nice pics Brad and the helmet cam is great, that 200 is peaky. Certainly was a fun day, hadn't raced there before but was a great place, nice fun people, challenging but not silly course with little dust and all close to the border and as such able to not wait too long to back across after the race. I didn't ride very well, too many mistakes and a silly crash ended up with dirt inside my left glove which caused a blister that burst and a rather painful hand for last 2 laps but 9th overall for an oldie isn't too bad, although felt bad for Robert as he had me beat until he mangled his shifter and got stuck in 1st gear for a lap and I was finally able to pass him back. Watch out for the next race which they said will be a 6 hour team event at the same location in a few months, great place to camp out and have a fun weekend.
  21. Looks like fun, see you in the morning Rob and others
  22. Are there any helmet cams of last race at same place, or any advise on terrain for tire choice, mainly rocky, sandy, hard pack or better lots of mud and snow?

    Handle Bar purchase advice

If you want strong bars the best are probably renthal twinwalls, only available in 1 1/8 fat bar size and very rugged, lots of different bends and heights and I agree best way is to go to a dealers and see how they feel.

    Helmet opinions please....

If you ride 99.9% dirt then why not get a full moto helmet? I love my Arai VX pro3, great fit and ventilation but not cheap.
