    BIG BEAR RUN

I can't top Deb's writeup nor her pics for that matter. But I can describe the ride in three simple words............... EPIC, EPIC, EPIC........ By far THEEEEE most physically demanding thing I've ever attempted in one day. AND I got the coveted plaque. As well as claim to being one of only three riders to 'make it' up the optional hill climb just before checkpoint #2 Video to be released on www.teambadassTV.com July 1st. Thanks Deb, Tracy, and others for the support and volunteer duty.
  2. GPS....?? I could hardly see my own front fender for the first 30+ miles...!! It was great at least starting the ride with you. So sorry we couldn't finish together.
  3. Riding this weeekend and next in preparation for the Big Bear Run. Looking for a couple partners interested in 'going for the plaque.' Tentative ride plan: Saturday, 160-180 mile loop. Big Bear to Holcomb to Deep Creek/White Moutnain down to Lucerne, East to Cougar Buttes, Johnson Valley, The ammers, Landers over to Pioneertown, a taste of Rattlesnake Canyon then back up into Big Bear. Sunday, some "hard way" exploration.................................??? John 619-241-3268
  4. There are 2 ways to connect to the Northern portion of Rattlesnake from 2n02..... There are several if you consider the many trails splitting off from Viscera Rd just East of where Hoss exited 2N02
  5. When the last thing I said to Hoss, while trying to direct him to a good staging/parking area was... "Call if you need any help, I'll come get you guys...." NEVER thought or at least hoped they wouldn't need my services. They're lucky and I'm thankful for that brief window of 'satellite signal' that allowed them to send and us to receive the message. Thanks for getting me out on the trail since I wasn;t able to ride with you guys. Glad everything worked out as relatively 'nice' as it did. Whenever you decide to ride Rattlesnake count me in.
  6. Considering my recent severe back spasms, I need to work on removing some of those X's. I'm all paid up as of Yesterday. Ride registration and beer tix. Can't wait
  7. Don't think I'll be riding Saturday but the South side is open, finally.
  8. I believe KKug and Don Johnson rode to Deep Creek 2 weekes back on DsFox's birthday......?? That would put them 'close' to Devil's Hole.
  9. This week has been ugly, snow, rain, wind, 20's, 30's....................... Cool on Saturday and slight chance of rain Sunday. I'd love to ride but I will heading 'down' the hill to the Renaissance Faire and window shoppojng for a new GPS. (early Father's Day gift)
  10. Last weekend for the Renaissance Faire. I'll be partaaking in all kinds of drunken debochery. ANd bike is going to Xr's Only for some fine tuning before the Big Bear Run. Still looking for a couple 'hard way' riding partners. I'll offer my house up to whoever wants to stay here this weekend but it's in a bit of dis-array as I am packing and moving out end of May. Crusty, thanks for the invite.
  11. Snow forecast thru Thursday.....WTF....???
  12. delayed Spring riding season sucks. Snowed today in Big Bear. Wish I was in Corral or Anza.
  13. That was a huge f-in bear and he was parked right outside the room i was assigned to. awesome trip and the riding well some of the best i have done.............. Deb, we're committing. Make sure that hand is well by then.
  14. Chris, Sign me up for 2 shirts and 2 riders/beer tasters. XXX for me please. (And the shirt also )
  15. 619-241-3268 Call me so we can set something up.
  16. I'm in and looking for some 'hard way' riding partners....!!! Although on most evenings and weekends I ride all the local Big Bear trails (including the hard routes) solo, I wouldn't mind some company on this one. I'm also open to anyone wanting to come and do some pre-rides.
  17. Sooner than you think. How was the ride home??
  18. 27 degrees and snowing. WTF Big Bear Sleeping in my pop up tonight. (in my side yard) Getting prep'd for my upcoming 6 months of 'camping'........I must be crazy.....!!
  19. How were thew last two rock 'drop off's' just before the creek...? They were pretty ugly after last year's snow melt.
  20. As always, excellent ride with the most excellent people. And of course Big Bear didn't disappoint, we ended up with our traditional 'Mother's Day' snow. I awoke to a light dusting this morning. It will struggle to break out of the 30's today. 4 Mother's Days here for me here in BB and it HAS snowed on or after each one. Thanks Captcham for organizing and the campground hospitality.
  21. Maybe we'll have to move Deb's birthday BB-q to your campfire.
  22. SOuth side above the ski slopes, 2N10 and connecting are closed as of yesterday and Monday. Still plenty of superb riding all points North and East.
  23. Jacoby Canyon https://www.facebook.com/?ref=home#!/video/video.php?v=2015440506838
  24. Weather is beautiful John Bull Clear exxcept for several Jeeps. They seemed to think I was crazy. Gold Mt. Clear Van Dusen CLOSED But accessible from other points ie; John Bull and the dump Polique OPEN and clear with some puddles Holcomb Valley via Fawnskin Rim of the World OPEN and clear Jacoby Canyon above the dump or from Cactus Flats clear with a little flowing water Forestry gates on South side are still closed as of today. Signs say .....thru April. Hopefully tomorrow or the first of the workweek Monday East to Pioneertown: still cool temperaturess and the Gunfights are happening every Saturday and Sunday at 2:30 on Mane Street Gonna be a great weekend.
  25. Considering the end of winter weather and what looks like a promising Spring this year, I expect to see the South side forestry gates open this weekend. (2N10, 2N26, 2N54, Sand Canyon, 2N93 and all points connected to Wildhorse Meadow, Seven Oaks and Coon Creek Cabin area) Everything to the East (2N02, 2N03, Jacoby Canyon, to Cactus Flats, Rattlesnake Canyon, Pioneertown) have been clear for a while. In fact I've stumbled across a few (new to me) trails above Erwin Lake and Lake Williams that connect to trails East. I'll check Polique, John Bull, Gold Mountain and the Holcomb area towards Deep Creek this weekend. Should be all clear with some slushy melting snow maybe in some of the North facing shaded corners. Pyro, you still in need of a loaner...??
