    Chick-Fil-A Rant

OK so I am not polarized on many issues; but this guy obviously is. And his actions caused him his job. Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bPLNgkP9nzc The Story: Guy goes to Chick-Fil-A to get free water so he could harass the employee at the drive through window. He was far enough "out there" to put it on YouTube. Then he got fired; He was the CFO of Vante of Tucson, AZ. http://azstarnet.com/news/local/tucson-exec-loses-job-over-anti-chick-fil-a-rant/article_f8cefeec-dcf5-11e1-8b88-001a4bcf887a.html The Press Release: http://www.marketwire.com/press-release/-1686870.htm I mean WOW, that dude was out there... and way to hyped up about harassing a poor girl who is likely working at or near minimum wage. Not sure if the guy should have been fired from his job; maybe he upoaded the video from the office? Company Car? Company Phone? Just Wow.

    Street Legal Banshee?

Ahh, that could be it. That is how my WR450 is plated. From a salvage WR450 Frame and did an engine swap.

    Chick-Fil-A Rant

If it needs to go, that is cool with me. I was not trying to stir the pot or even make a political statement. More of a statement about how we should treat people in general.

    Street Legal Banshee?

Wow, I would like to know what insurance company he used. I am not paying anywhere near that much, $38/month.
  8. How about I share another tip then. Setup a GMail (Google EMail) account and set you SPOT up to send messages to that account. The set your GMail auto-forwarding rules to forward your SPOT messages to your support network's email addresses. Back when I got mine in 2007/8 you could only setup one SMS and one EMail. That was my work around and I still use it.

    Street Legal Banshee?

LOL, I have been telling people this for three years and still get treated like I have a horn growing out my forehead.
  10. Paul has hit the nail on the head. Your contacts should be those who are part of your "support network" not on the ride. Furthermore, I don't have my spot tracking for short rides; just on but not tracking. If I were to try to include all the local sheriffs offices on my multiweek trips...well. Not to mention that SPOT has those contacts already and your support network should have the ability to search for that info via Google, Bing, etc. Then again SDAR was able to work together on this and get help rolling and the locals alerted. My main learning point from this exercise is not to use a custom message button for a help message. Then again I have a SPOT1 that does not have a custom message button, but when I get a different device I now know. Lastly, a few years back there was a TV show called "Out of the Wild" (I think) no reward just the adventure of finding your way home from tough terrain with a team of other volunteers. They all carried SPOT1 devices and just to be safe had duct tape over the help and 911 buttons. I do the same thing.
  11. I shall tally your bill publicly: 1 Order of Wings 1 Pitcher of decent beer I am not looking forward to my trip next month when I have to get crap for "my friends and their farkles" AND buy the beer and wings. Seriously, we are all so happy that you are OK and it was just a false alarm; accidents happen. We are all looking forward to the ride report.

    Highwaydirtbike handguards

They do not respond very quick at all. I waited 4 weeks for a response and by then I had already spent my money elsewhere.

$5500 LOL. You can get them plated, but they won't stick.

I haven't been riding but I have been busy

Nice setup! When I was racing SBK I built my setup very much like this except my toolbox was directly across from my side door. You can get extra storage by bolting a shoe "thing" (the one with pouches) the doors. My trailer was black so adding a rooftop A/C was a must. You may want to reconsider the window idea. I think I would prefer the privacy and security of having a swing out that was composed of the materials from the trailer instead of glass. Just cut it out and hinge it! I love the bed/couch, mine was a hinged plank of wood and an air mattress. Seriously, you have really thought it out and it looks really good!
  16. I will buy into the second part, but the first part, no way. To many trucks, buggies, jeeps, etc with nothing more than roll cage and fiberglass which is really nothing more than a UTV / SidexSide. I was thinking about buying a higher end UTV and getting it plated, not anymore.
  17. OK not to totally derail/hijack. But why the OEM seat, handrail, helmet, and feet on the floor provisions? None of these are required for any passenger vehicle that operates in the same areas and usually at much higher speeds.
  18. Great video! The WR450f can be plated in any state except California. But there is a process to get it plated within CARB regulations.
  19. Exactly what I though, that flyer looks looks like a promo for... well... You said it best!
  20. After a series of injuries and events that kept me off the bike I was itching for a ride, and I have a few new neighbors that want to try riding in the dirt. So why not take them to the easiest and emptiest track I know. So we packed up the truck, the wives, and the dog and off we went. Clicking the image will open a new window with a larger version. No post production has been done to these photos. This is Alex, I think I will call him "Waterboy",he moved in to my 'hood a few weeks back and we have really hit it off over the bikes with me planning some road rides for his shop, yes he is stationed at the MCAS. Bob aka Wildwood had posted up about riding Jamul, and after a few minutes of chatting he decided to join us. Here is a pic of his bike; we are a little embarrassed that we do not have a pic of him without his helmet on. There was a dog involved, here she is. Bailey is a Miniature Schnauzer and reminds me of the Dogs I had only a mini version; It makes me miss my Giants. She was much more impressed with the bed of my truck than anything else going on. Alex... I mean Waterboy had a learning curve, but since we were the only ones there for a while I tried to help out as much as my limited off road skills would allow. I think he had a good teacher! This one is pretty funny, I am usually watching the track, but he is watching me try to kill myself! Later in the day we met another guy named Bob, he is the owner of SDSportCycles, real nice guy and riding a really clean 500 2smoker. And it flies! P1 got a little artistic, group shot! Ok, more pictures less words. It is really nice to have your own Photog! Thanks for coming out guys; we have got to do this again sometime!

    Jamul VMX Day

Because a shovel would take about 30 years. The whole track is trashed; but it is fairly fun if you are not pretending to be the next <insert MX rider name here>

Race / Track Bike... Opinions Please

Without sounding confrontational or putting words into Goofy's mouth I think he wants a solid all around bike. We all know that there is no no such thing as a perfect all around bike. However I have learned that buying Green or Red sticker bikes and working within the laws to get them plated tend to be what makes me happy. Suspension is difficult, but since I use the track as a means to work on skills and not a place to go fast a good suspension setup is possible also.

    Jamul VMX Day

Well he sold the the backhoe. A few months back he was grooming it during the day and the track was is fairly good service. However the last two times it has been a hot mess.

You know I have a plated Wr450. If you want to borrow it for some track time let me know.

SPOT HELP ACTIVATED - DSFOX IN CO

I am a little surprised that this happens as often as it does. On the Gen1 SPOT the button has to be depressed for about 3 seconds if my memory serves me correctly. Though I understand how a bungee could press the button long enough, I have to ask why the bungie? Mine is carried either in the top of my Camelback or on my chest and almost always has signal so I may just be missing the point but why put the device in a bungie'd pouch if it is on your body? Is it an armband or something? Seems like poor design on the part of SPOT to me. Either way, it happens and IMO it is awesome we have a group like we do (remember I needed help once) and these tools are available to everyone.
